What is the attitude of firefighters to stretch ceilings (when installed in an enterprise, in administrative premises)?

Especially at the enterprises it is worth paying attention to fire danger. Firefighters, when tested, may find fault with the fact that the finishing material is highly flammable. Let us examine the materials from which make the tension flows, as well as their resistance to high temperatures. This information may be a useful argument in a dispute with the fire inspectorate.

The main material for suspended ceilings is PVC film or polyester fabric. The essence of the first material is that the tension and the ultimate strength of the material strongly depend on the temperature difference. Stretch ceilings are not frost resistant. When the temperature drops below zero, the PVC film becomes fragile and tough, and at minus 40 degrees it collapses. For this reason, installing stretch ceilings in unheated industrial premises is not worth it, because this is the first thing for which questions from the fire inspectorate will be required. In addition, the PVC film, even at room temperature, is elastic, and at a temperature of 65 degrees it can stretch like a thin layer of rubber. For this reason, the temperature in the room where stretch ceilings are installed should not be increased, and the use of high-power fixtures that are built into the ceiling is prohibited. If all these requirements are met, the use of stretch ceilings made of PVC film will not be a reason for sealing the administrative premises or enterprises fire.

Stretch ceilings made of polyester fabric are frost resistant. They are more stable and less elastic. But we are interested in fire resistance of these stretch ceilings. There are special models of stretch ceilings made of fabric with refractory impregnation. Usually, firefighters do not have questions to stretch ceilings "Renolit B1". It is also worth mentioning the fire resistance classes of suspended ceilings. According to the European classification, the material can be class M3, M2 and M1. The most fireproof ones are stretch ceilings of class M1. They should be chosen for enterprises and administrative premises so that firefighters do not have unnecessary questions or any complaints about stretch ceilings. Stretch ceilings, which are marked with M1, are one of the most fire resistant materials. Paint, cork and ceiling plate - all this is inferior in refractoriness to these stretch ceilings.

In order for firefighters to be sure of the fire resistance of stretch ceilings, it is worth keeping all the necessary documentation, where the fireproof material class is clearly prescribed. Also, firefighters can be alerted by the incorrect installation of stretch ceilings. To prevent this from happening, for installation it is worth contacting specialized companies that have certification for performing these types of work. In addition, the specialists of such companies will be able to resolve all issues regarding fire safety, as well as provide necessary advice for the operation of stretch ceilings so that the room is minimally subject to accidental ignition of the material. As a result, the fireman will have nothing to complain about when checking.
