The question “what is better is a drill or screwdriver?” I asked myself a long time ago, and made certain conclusions during this time. Two of the same type of work of the machine are somewhat different from each other resource values. We will conduct a brief analysis of the characteristics of both instruments.
Among the advantages of cordless screwdrivers, I would like to mention the following:
1. Less weight. Most models of professional drills weigh more than screwdrivers. If this is important, for example, when working at a height with drywall, where high power is useless, and the weight of the tool determines the long-term performance of the task, the screwdriver here will be more practical.
2. Endurance. Brand models from manufacturers such as Bosch, Makita, Metabo, Hilti and other similar professional tool brands can work all day on one battery without additional charge. Powerful and durable - lithium batteries.
3. Lack of a loop. The cordless screwdriver does not need wires at all, unlike a drill. This may be a decisive factor in favor of this tool, as you may have to work without a network.
Of the shortcomings of battery machines in the first place is exactly charging. If you do not prepare for work in time and do not recharge the elements, you can be left without a tool. Spontaneous charging, like “set for 10 minutes, even if it works for an hour,” leads to inevitable damage to the batteries, rapid deterioration and the search for new ones for replacement. Well, if they can still be found, and your machine can be brought back to life. But there are cases when the manufacturer removes some models from production, and changes the shape of the new battery case. In such a situation will have to acquire a new tool.

I would like to mention one more important disadvantage - low engine power. In relation to the drills, whose power is on average 0.65-1kW, the screwdrivers of course lose. For a long time with a battery-powered machine you cannot dig even a relatively soft breed, for example wood. There is nothing to say about metal - here a screwdriver can only be an auxiliary tool, in case the drill breaks, and even then not for long. The self-locking cartridge also wears off over time, it can only be replaced with a new one.
For myself, I chose both a screwdriver and a drill, because I like the tool to be convenient, reliable and relevant in a particular job. I chose branded cars, ordering from authorized dealers on the Internet, not trusting the local traders of Chinese "happiness." My tool makes me happy, extremely rarely breaking or falling into disrepair. Of course, periodic preventive maintenance of the running gear and the electrical part is also important. These tasks are better to trust proven electricians.
