The best acoustic and classical guitars
The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments, which is not surprising: it is simple in basic training, and a whole layer of culture is tied to this instrument. Even having mastered all three chords, you will no longer have difficulty in the question “what would you sing?”. As the skill grows, a lot of techniques and styles of performance will open, revealing more and more new features of a simple, at first glance, guitar.
But for this and the tool you need to select the appropriate. For low-quality acoustics among guitarists, the term “bobrovka” has long been saved - alas, products of furniture and musical instruments factory (yes, that’s so!) From the city of Bobrov have become so famous for their disgusting quality of production and sound that they have become a common name. So it’s worth to immediately find out which company’s guitars are the best, whose production a guitar can be bought with confidence, and only then choose the instrument you like and which is affordable for money from the model range.
Which guitar is better - acoustic or classical?
Brand brand, but you choose a specific tool for yourself. To begin with we will be defined with a design:
- Classic guitars - the best choice for beginners. Wide and thin necks are convenient for working out the fingering, on narrower acoustic necks and, even more so, electric fingers will interfere with each other and the strings for much longer. Soft nylon strings, which are used on the "classics", do not cause pain in the fingers before the production of corns, are easily clamped and pulled up with bands. But later it will not be possible to switch to steel - the strength for strings with high tension is low, not every classical guitar can withstand steel strings, so it is better not to experiment.
- Acoustic guitars due to hard springs (a set of wooden rails amplifiers) under the top deck and the presence of an anchor in the neck can use steel strings, therefore richer in sounding and louder, especially dreadnoughts (western guitars). Steel strings make it easy to use pickups, so many models of acoustic guitars are initially equipped with them, possibly with a built-in equalizer-preamp, which is more convenient for performances than picking up sound by a microphone.
The best manufacturers of acoustic and classical guitars
Composing the rating of the best manufacturers of acoustic and classical guitars, we faced a clear difficulty: many companies produce a wide range of instruments of the most diverse class. Therefore, we specifically had to create a category for "universals" - these are the brands in the assortment of which there are instruments for musicians of any level, and at the same time all these instruments can be bought from us in the country. The rest of the categories were also filled based on the guitars of these companies that are most common in our sales.

Fender
13 300 (FENDER CD-60, dreadnought)
The name of this company has already become a business card in itself, and the Stratocaster created by it is one of the most legendary electric guitars, whose forms have become the de facto standard. But, in addition to a huge selection of electric and bass guitars, the company does not forget about acoustics: there is plenty to choose from in its assortment, and the sound of even low-cost acoustic guitars, which are produced at the company's factories in Asia, does not disgrace its name.
So what can we offer? Classical guitars of the Nylon series are the best choice for beginning guitarists (one full-size model and two “three-quarter”). You can choose an agatis top, an exotic sapele body and a nato (a mahogany) neck, or an agatis top and a spruce top and a mahogany neck. In any case, the sound will be more than worthy for instruments of this level. There is much more choice for steel strings: Travel travel guitars with a 23.5 ”menor, compact Parlor, for nostalgia for the sixties - Jumbo with a cut-out deck on the last frets and the famous Stratoxter neck, the professional musicians are meant for professional musicians. (for nylon) and acoustic (for steel strings) guitars from different materials and in different versions. Add to this the Triple-0 series with their characteristic shape and, of course, the dreadnoughts of the Dreadnought line of the same name, distinguished by the richness of sound on the bass strings and so beloved by the bluesmen of the whole world. Takamine
28 400 (TAKAMINE G-SERIES CLASSICAL GC3CE-BLK, classical electroacoustics)
Even if you’ve never heard of this company, you’ve probably heard one of its guitars — it was Takamine’s guitar that Glenn Frey from Eagles was “armed with” while recording Hotel California.
This song was the impetus for the development of a previously unknown company based in post-war Japan. The use of built-in preamps in their electroacoustic guitars soon became the hallmark of the brand, and it later became a pioneer in the development of DSP (digital signal processors). Manufacturability is generally one of the main Takamine “chips”: if American conservatives rely on the maximum use of manual labor in their advertisements, the Japanese, by contrast, make extensive use of computer-aided design and numerical control machines. And it does not harm the sound of an iota - you will be confirmed by both Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. However, for traditionalists, Takamine also offers Pro-Series - guitars, completely made by the masters. The company has plenty to choose from: in the more budgetary G-Series line you can find everything from three-quarter guitars and ukuleles to full-length concert dreadnoughts and acoustic bass. It is simply impossible to list all the models in our article: look in the Takamine catalog and see for yourself. No less choice in the Pro-Series - Takamine will satisfy any request and novice guitarist, and famous musician. Main advantages:

Yamaha
12 990 (Yamaha F370 Black, Dreadnought)
The assortment of the Japanese concern, whose musical roots still provide tuning forks on the emblem, a huge number of guitars - from student to professional. Having gained recognition in the 1960s with the FG series, which proved that high-level guitar can be quite affordable, by the time the Japanese company has become one of the world leaders. Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins, Scott Holiday from Rival Sons - only two musicians from a huge list of those on whose acoustic guitars you can see the Yamaha label.
Do you need maximum quality and manual assembly? For you created a series L. Powerful and clear sound with a wealth of bottoms? Pay attention to the CPX guitars.Choice for a novice musician? You will be interested in very good and inexpensive acoustic guitars of the F and FX series. No less rich is the choice of classical guitars, especially interesting for learning, and from an early age: there are not only three-quarter guitars in the line, but also 1/2 size instruments. But the professional who prefers the classic sound of nylon strings will find the right instrument among the hand-made GCX series. Main advantages:

Ibanez
13 900 (Ibanez PF15-BK, Dreadnought)
The brand's history began with acoustic guitars: it was under it that in 1929, the Japanese company Hoshino Gakki began importing instruments from a small Spanish company Salvador Ibáñez. So the debate about how to properly read this name is easily resolvable: the original Spanish master Salvador Ibáñez created guitars.
After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, the Japanese began to produce their own guitars, buying the trademark rights from Salvador Ibáñez. Although now the company is known primarily for extreme seven- and eight-string electric guitars for lovers of “meat” and instruments for shredders capable of playing “The Flight of the Bumblebee” three times faster than the original, nobody forgot about acoustic guitars. In its mass, classical and acoustic Ibanez guitars are instruments of a primary and intermediate level that will become a good choice for a musician who is just starting to play or perform in small clubs. There are, nevertheless, more expensive series of high-class tools. The company also offers subscription series of famous musicians - JSA (Joe Satriani) and EP (Steve Vai), which are the most famous Ibanez endorsers. Ibanez guitars will appeal to lovers of “non-standard” - for example, the Talman series of instruments on the outlines of a soundboard is more like a Fender Jaguar than an acoustic guitar. EWP and AEW guitars will interest those who often play on the last frets. The artificially aged Artwood Vintage Thermo Aged guitars, although they do not compare in sound with the age instruments that withstood the “natural” drying, are very interesting with their powerful resonance and good sustain. The best manufacturers of high-end guitars
Gibson
144 000 (Rosewood Antique Natural Gibson J-29, acoustic guitar)
Having said “Fender”, it’s impossible not to say “Gibson” - the second pillar of American guitar engineering is no less well-known and became the subject of an eternal dispute “which is better, Fender or Gibson?”. Acoustic and classical guitars of this company are instruments of extremely high quality of sound and decoration, but their price corresponds to the volume of the name. The fact is that if Fender doesn’t shy away from giving its name to enough budget models, producing only frank low-level under the Squier by Fender brand, then Gibson has middle-grade and primary-class tools under the subsidiary brand Epiphone, retaining only the highest quality ... and six-digit ruble price tags.
What interesting things can a company offer? If you are looking for the best classical guitar for nylon strings and can afford to spend 450 thousand, then pay attention to the 1932 L-00 Vintage Acoustic Guitar 30's: this elegant guitar with the exception of the red spruce top is completely made of mahogany, famous for its crystal clear treble sound and deep bass. The Songwriter studio guitar series is perfect for a quick play, and their dreadnought body provides a powerful and at the same time picky sound in nuances.Let's not forget about the Hummingbird - the line of guitars chosen by many famous musicians since 1960, you will hear exactly one of them, for example, in Rolling Stones in “Sympathy for the Devil”. Martin
34 000 (Martin Guitars LX1, 3/4 Acoustic Guitar)
The name of the oldest American guitar manufacturer is not as popular as the upstarts from the 20th century, but the fact that Martin has been manufacturing musical instruments since 1833 is worthy of respect and attention. This will be confirmed by such musicians as Ed Sheeran (he is not known for his role in the “Game of Thrones”), Sturgill Simpson (Grammy nominee-2015), Del McCori, who plays bluegrass and country music since 1967 and has become the numerous winner of various awards . It was Martin who in the 1920s created the “dreadnought” type corpus, for the juicy and powerful sound that was beloved first by jazzmen, and then by blues performers, and now, in fact, has become the standard choice for a concert game. The same company came up with the X-shaped arrangement of the springs under the top deck, which allowed the classical guitar to be transformed into modern acoustics, avoiding distortion under the influence of the tension of steel strings.
Martin guitars can attract attention with a very good combination of price and quality, especially given the presence of this brand and the "student" series of entry-level, which, however, for a long time will not cause the desire to change the instrument. The prices they have at the same time, alas, are appropriate. Retaining classic forms, Martin doesn’t shy away from modern technologies: for example, the Aura VT & Matrix VT Enhance proprietary know-how “directs” the sound to the cutout, making it easier to record with a microphone and enriching the sound. And, of course, the company has its own Custom Shop, which will allow you to make your guitar an individual, up to the manual aging of individual parts. Main advantages:

Godin
52 720 (Godin 5th Avenue, arktop)
The story of Godin is an example of what a first-class master can achieve in a short time. Canadian master Robert Godin, who founded the company named after himself in 1972, quickly gained recognition from professional musicians. Although the firm focuses on electric guitars, it also has interesting instruments in the acoustic field.
The guitars of the Multiac Nylon (classic) and Multiac Steel (acoustic) families are interesting by an unconventional solution - instead of the usual round hole in the deck under the fingerboard, several small-sized holes of small diameter surround the controls of the built-in preamp above the fingerboard. This provides the guitars with a characteristic “taste” at resonance, which should be assessed by oneself. The Godin A11 eleven-string guitars and the A8 eight-string guitars are completely free from holes in the top ... However, the A11 is a fretless guitar! So Godin guitars will be of interest to experimenters from the world of music: if the sound of a classical guitar or an American dreadnought seems bored and boring to you, Robert Godin knows what to offer. The best manufacturers of acoustic and classical middle class guitars
Strunal (former Cremona)
12 400 (Strunal 4671, classical guitar)
Cremona guitars from Czechoslovakia were the dream of a Soviet guitar player who had to play the Leningrad instrument at best, and the Witcher at best (if it wasn’t mentioned by night). After the collapse of Czechoslovakia, the company changed its name to Strunal, but you can still find out the characteristic sound of “Cremona” in their guitars.
If your budget is limited, but the idea to buy an Indonesian or Chinese guitar is not attractive, Strunal will be an excellent choice. Strunal guitars are not similar to either classic Spanish or American dreadnoughts - keyed fingerboard and “fan” under the deck give their own nostalgic tone, but new fingerboards from mahogany are much more reliable than beech from the times of the social camp. In the family of classic guitars, Strunal offers both models with a laminated deck, and made from solid cedar and spruce. The use of cedar is also one of the characteristic features of the brand. If you prefer metal strings, then there are plenty to choose from in the acoustics family - western dreadnoughts and jumbo, 9- and 12-string models. It is exactly nine-string can be heard on the early albums of the “Aquarium” - Strunal Mod.J797 and Mod.J997 will allow repeating this sound. Main advantages:

Top entry-level guitar makers
Epiphone
9 850 (Epiphone DR-100 Vintage Sunburst, Dreadnought)
Greek violin maker Anastasios Statopoulos never engaged in the release of guitars. Created by him after emigration to the United States, Epiphone (from the diminutive name of his son) mastered the new tool after the death of the founder and the First World War, successfully competing with Fender and Gibson. However, the popularity was short-lived - in 1957, Gibson acquired a company that suffered losses, retaining the already prestigious brand: so John Lennon played on the Epiphone guitars.
Over time, Epiphone increasingly became the Gibson budget unit - production, initially concentrated in America, first moved to Japan, which in 1970 was one of the main suppliers of budget musical instruments to the world market, then to South Korea and, finally, in 2002 China. Prices were falling, but the quality was falling: modern Epiphone acoustic guitars have nothing to do with The Beatles instruments. Epiphone three-quarter and full-size acoustic guitars can be confidently advised to an amateur musician: despite their Asian background, they undergo a close enough quality control so that they can be bought safely. A characteristic feature of the brand is the absence of classical guitars in the assortment (not counting only one ukulele for it), but country and rockabilly performers will be interested in a good choice of electro-acoustic arctopes - from the completely traditional Epiphone Masterbilt Zenith to the mandolin MM-40L: these tools send more to the models of “independent” 30s and are distinguished by high build quality, good sound and brand fittings (in particular, Grover supplies pegs). Unfortunately, these guitars are rare in Russia - that is why, in our realities, Epiphone is essentially an entry-level guitar brand. Main advantages:

Hohner
6 770 (Hohner Classical HC03, classical размера guitar)
Founded in 1857 by the German company Hohner Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co. KG is known primarily for its lip harmonics. Nevertheless, it also produces quite good guitars with quite affordable and in post-crisis time prices. In the assortment you can find both classics (including reduced models 3/4 and 1/2), and western guitars for steel strings.
Cheap Hohner acoustic guitars are a good choice if you are on a budget. The sound here is quite at the level, and you can only find fault with the quality of workmanship compared to more expensive instruments. Sign of the company - the use of spruce tops on all models, the choice of body materials is wider: sapele, catalpa, mahogany. Vultures on classical guitars are made exclusively from mahogany, acoustic ones can be bought with maple. Main advantages:

How to choose a guitar?
If you are a beginner guitar player, then you should take a more experienced comrade with you to the store: without a good playing technique and a Gibson you will sound “not very”, while an experienced musician will easily distinguish different instruments by sound. In budget models, you need to carefully inspect the neck - whether there is an excessive sagging on it, a “screw”, how smooth the frets are and how well their frets are fixed.
As for the material of the deck and top, it is difficult to give advice here - a lot depends on the quality of the original wood and its drying, it’s not necessary to think that a guitar with a mahogany top would definitely be better than spruce. Here again, you need to carefully listen to a particular instrument.
