Any aquarium, even the smallest, needs aeration. First of all, aquarists care about 3 properties of compressors: power, noiselessness and durability. Cost may be less important, although not everyone can afford the best equipment.
If the aquarium is in the bedroom, it is better to choose the quietest device. Power is relevant for large volumes: even with the stated excellent performance, not every compressor can “pierce” a high column of water.
