Having your own farm, it is difficult to do without mechanical “helpers” - even a low-powered walk-up tractor can ease a lot of work, and in a very unusual way: for example, by installing a pump on a power take-off shaft, you can quickly pump water from a well or, on the contrary, drain ditches or caissons. It is not surprising that in the villages one can often see the craziest constructions, which, following the example of the Warhamer orcs, gather literally from what was superfluous at hand.
However, today we will not understand how to assemble a walk-behind tractor, but what can and should be bought in stores in 2019.
How was the ranking of the best motoblocks
First of all, we note that we do not pursue advertising goals. All units proposed for your consideration were selected impartially, according to the principle - “as for myself”.
Criterias of choice:
- Opinion of the owners devices was taken into account in the first place. We felt that this was the surest way to get an answer to the question: “What a good walker, and which one is better to pass by in the store?”. Faith practitioners are more than salespeople. But there is another side of the coin - according to the owners, only the fairly common and popular petrol and diesel tillers had a chance to get into the top rankings, and high-quality new products could go unnoticed. How did we do? See next item.
- Study of technical specifications allowed to identify the monoblocks, already available on the market of agricultural machinery in Russia, but which are still little used by citizens. In such cases, we monitored similar products of the company, for which there are already reviews and extrapolated the result to the described model. For easy classification, tillers can be divided into the following groups:
- Light tillers have motors with a capacity of no more than 4-5 horsepower, most often a motor transmission and at the same time coupling them is a V-belt transmission. The main purpose is to work with cutters, the additional linkage is connected with the second belt, if there are several streams on the drive pulley. They will not pull a large load in the form of a plow even with weighting compounds, they will overheat on heavy soil. Such a walk-behind tractor is a good choice for a small farm where a serious cultivator is needed, but hard work in large quantities is not expected.
- Medium tillers already more powerful and heavier. In this class, you can find not only models with a multi-stage transmission and reverse, but also diesel models, which are even more expensive, but with frequent use it is more profitable in terms of fuel consumption. Motor transmission is often direct - and this makes it possible to connect an active linkage to the power take-off shaft.
- Heavy tillers fully justify their name - their weight exceeds 150 kilograms (and even rolls over 3 centners, like the Profi PR 1040E and his classmates), so they can pull a plow without additional weighting, transport loaded carts - and 10-13 liters motors. with.do an excellent job with this load. Given the size and weight of such devices, a differential appears in the transmission - it will no longer be possible to deploy such equipment on one wheel like light tillers. According to the Soviet tradition, this series of motoblocks has been produced in the form of appendage at a defense enterprise - Leningrad “Red October” since 1984. Although the engines of the American brand are assembled in China, there are no complaints about their quality - this is confirmed by the owners and the resource tests of specialized publications: for 250 hours of work under nominal load, the motor showed no trace of wear, maintaining power and torque without loss. The MultiAGRO transmission installed on the walk-behind tractor is a three-stage transmission with reverse gear. In addition, in a motor transmission both pulleys are two-legged, so that the gear ratios in all gears can be varied by a motor transmission. Therefore, it can be safely used with mills on soils of varying severity, having precisely set the necessary turns, to transport the cart without problems with maneuvering - the walk-behind tractor was affordable and versatile, all you need to do is to install “differentials” (split freewheels) on the axis, if you intend to work with frequent reversals. And, of course, you can put the drive belt of the front active linkage on the two-pulley pulley, the manufacturer provided for the benefit and the mountings, and the accessories themselves. If it were not for the average build quality, which the Chinese "Champions" have long known, this walk-behind tractor could claim big score points. It was conceived as it should - a longitudinal nine-power G270HK engine, which, moreover, can easily reach the valves and spark plugs, dry clutch, rear power take-off shaft, durable crankcase box and gearbox. The weight of the tiller is 147 kg. This is exactly where the “ponizhayka” wouldn't hurt - turn on and hook the plow, but, alas, the usual gearbox is “two forward, one backward”. The motor is well-designed, it even has an oil wiper cap on the intake valve - a rare thing for engines of this class, especially Chinese ones. It is convenient to regulate the valve; we do not have any special complaints regarding the CPG resource - it is quite average. And even the drain plug - lo and behold! - located where it is convenient to bring the tank to drain the mining. All is well? Then let's add a fly in the ointment. The quality of fasteners is expectedly low - wherever possible (but not always necessary), they put cheap syromyatin. Keep this in mind and do not be zealous with tightening. Spiral-bevel gears in the gearbox from the factory are often poorly adjusted - not without reason, even in the operating instructions there is a separate section describing the procedure for adjusting the gap. And it is configured with shims, which still try to find. Let's start with the fact that the gearbox has not changed - all the same "2 +1". How to choose the best walk-behind tractor?
Start with engine - if you choose gasoline tiller, then the priority will be branded nizhnevalnye motors (Honda GX, Briggs & Stratton, Subaru-Robin), Subaru upper motors are also not bad, but more difficult to maintain; cheap, but quite reliable Chinese clones - Lifan, Kipor. If the issue of price is acute, then you will have to choose from a complete Chinese “nouneym”, which either has no marking at all, or is already marked by an assembly company under its own name.
Diesel walking tractor it is better to choose if there is a large amount of hard work to be done, since they have higher torque, longer life and lower fuel consumption. The overwhelming majority of models available in our market are equipped with “purely Chinese” engines, but Japanese “roots” are again evident in the engines Lifan and Kipor.
As for motor transmission the choice is only in the middle class: light tillers except for a few rare models have a belt drive, while the heavy ones only have a straight with a disc clutch. For an average motoblock, the best choice would be a direct one, but there are also many successful models using straps of common sizes: if there is no fundamental need to install a rear linkage on the power take-off shaft, then this motoblock will be more advantageous in price.
As for gearbox, there are three options:
- Chain- the cheapest and easiest, but the chain will stretch over time and will require replacement, and for this you will have to disassemble the "leg" of the motor-block. On cheap Chinese motorblocks, it is better to replace it with a domestic counterpart right away.
- Worm the gearbox is durable and compact, but its main drawback is that in the absence of a free wheel, such a walker can not be rolled, when squeezing the clutch, the wheels immediately “get a stake”. It is possible to use tillers with such gears only for plowing; it is simply dangerous to transport goods on a cart on the roads.
- Gear wheel the gearbox is the most expensive, because in its “leg” there is a whole set of gears, and in the case for them there are exactly bored seats. But in its operation it is sufficient to maintain the desired level of gear oil.
Some tillers use combined circuits, for example, gear-chain gearboxes (the chain is stretched along the body to do without expensive gear set, but ends with a downward gear pair that unloads the chain and reduces its wear) or a combination of gear wheel drive and worm gear - a separate exit to the milling cutters . But it is rather exotic, common models are based on traditional kinematics.
Tip: if there is an opportunity, before purchase, inspect the main components of the tiller, visually assess the quality of the assembly and coating. Sometimes an unfinished bolt will help to learn more about the reliability of the device than a pile of studied literature.
