The purpose of this device is to eliminate wrinkles and bruising of clothes before going out. It is not a substitute for iron. Do not expect that you can iron things with this device (buy powerful expensive steamers for this). This is sharpened only to improve (and not full ironing) the appearance of crumpled things. It copes well with its task.
Water splashes can be, but they are insignificant. The design is quite successful and the water practically does not get on things. When it is especially critical that not a single drop has slipped and formed from powerful steam, gauze can be used as a barrier.
In addition to smoothing wrinkles on old things, it improves the appearance of greasy and shiny surfaces. Grease stains near pockets, shiny sleeves, etc. - all this looks much better after steaming the device.
Pants or skirt can be fastened with clothespins to a metal hanger and vertically steamed outside and inside. A shirt or blouse can be steamed simply on a hanger. The stock of water for the indicated purposes of the device is sufficient. Cleaning takes about three minutes. Thus, a couple of minutes for boiling and three or four minutes for steaming, and yesterday's bruising of things fixed.
The device itself is descaled by conventional means to remove plaque from electric kettles.
