Frightened by the reports about “cheap is 1.5-cotton fakes, real 5-8 quilted jackets are expensive” went to check the Tsaritsyn market.
They measured with different antennas - one figure, which is about 4-5 watts.
Which indirectly confirms both the information on the forums about "the Chinese have finally made a good home antenna", and the messages about "all bao-82 are the same, sellers' stories about" fakes, low power, etc. "competitors have nothing more than" a divorce "to justify their inflated price.

On the radio I like to listen to the radio. If the Chinese Kenwood caught without interference only in one room, on the window, strictly in one position, then Baofeng was very pleased - the quality of the reception is much better, you can even wander around the apartment. Apparently, again the merit of an improved antenna.

Battery. Declared 2800 mAh. The battery is tiny and weighs 80 grams. For comparison, 1200 mAh battery brand Vertex is much healthier and weighs 180 grams. It seems that the messages on the forums about the "real" capacity of the battery within 1400 mAh completely correspond to the truth.
Charging. The power supply plugged into the socket shines brightly with a bright red (typically “Chinese”) LED. And the empty charging glass flashes red-green - purely a police chandelier. On a fig like to do - it is not clear.
A glass weighs 40 grams (the old Chinese has 80 grams). The power supply is almost weightless - the same 40 grams (the old one has 200). In general, in this area, the Chinese have learned to save a lot in a couple of years.

For work ... It works. Where the vertex with Kenwood “interferes”, (city, a few km of rare buildings) there is also interference from Bao. I think the tests on the Internet are true. Measurements "on this can be disassembled 2 words more at a distance of 20 steps further" was not engaged.

Ps. Usually sellers withdraw the headset that comes with the radio and sell separately. Keep in mind. Separate plus zonagsm - do not indulge.

After testing this unit, I found out that in conditions of fairly dense mixed forest, in dry cloudy weather, the distance of confident reception is about 1.8-2.0 km.
In the wet forest about 30% less.
Communication after these limits somehow ends immediately, without even going into hindrances and crashes.

In the open area further than 7 km. it was not possible to retire, but the connection was quite confident and stable.

Advantages: All the good things have already been told: it lies well in the hand, and the double tangent, and the connection is acceptable, and there are many functions, and so on. I will add on trifles:
1. Finally, they removed the hated channel / frequency switching button, which in the UV-5R is always pressed in the pocket.
2. Moved the reception indicator to the end of the radio.
3. The battery latch is metallic.
4. Made a more familiar keyboard, as in the phone.

Disadvantages: The main joint is the same as in the predecessor - the radio does not know how to simultaneously listen to one channel and scan another.

Comment: The rest is the same UV-5R, with a new feature and old sores.

Comment: He took to fly on a paraglider. We start from the start a little higher than LPD. From the station delighted and not only me. The other day I saw people have a couple more of the same units.

Particularly pleased with the range. From one end of the St. Petersburg dam to the other, the connection breaks into Ur. From the 17th floor, it was possible to establish communication with the field (according to maps, this is 33 km of almost direct visibility, and the speech was picky and the noise level was 2K.

The unit is powerful and heaped up!
Very pleased with the 2 buttons PTT. It can be configured to work at different frequencies, and to work at the same frequency, but with different power.

Advantages: Price-quality build. For someone plus a double PTT rocker. For me personally, not a plus.

Disadvantages: As usual, the inflated readings of the battery on the battery itself, in reality about 1700-1800 mAh. "Empty" power supply and memory, but miraculously working nonetheless. That's how long this question is. Not enough frequency / channel mode switch button

Comment: Well coordinated, of course there is no water or dust protection at all, all those who indicate this apparently either do not understand what it is or trade in these stations. All the same RDA chip, but in a more anatomically convenient package. For your money quite fit. I think there’s no point in demanding more from the direct conversion receiver. The good news is that every year the Chinese VHF slayers are falling more and more in price. Although sometimes to the detriment of the components in them :-)

Advantages: Splash protection, very convenient body shape and balancing even with long rods, dual PTT key (for transferring and switching between two channels), full numeric keypad, two-line display, suitable antenna included (did not notice a difference in the 400 MHz range from 771 Nagoya, it is a pity that it is not sold separately), quite flexible settings, ease of firmware and availability of headsets and wires for firmware with the K-plug ("Kenwood"), support for CHIRP, good power and sensitivity, good voice quality, good di volume Amica. Decent quality plastic. Dual band. If you take "at home", then almost no alternative balance of characteristics and cost.

Disadvantages: There may be few channels. An alternative battery / battery box / cigarette lighter box or covers will someday appear (the platform is already widely used by different manufacturers), but so far there is nothing like that. An inconvenient grip with the attached "clothespin", the absence of an ear under the cord on the case, an uncomfortable cover of the headset connector (protruding from the inserted headset). Channel scanning speed is low.
Certain defect assembly. Check! They may not twist the locking rings under the antenna / volume control, the volume control itself may not work well.

Comment: The station can be seen as a replacement for the UV-5R: everything is almost the same and even for the same price, only slightly better: the flashlight became a flashlight, not an LED sticking out of the case, the volume control received side protection (body tide) and more Strong performance, splash protection appeared, the body became comfortable anatomically shaped, better communication, better speaker, better VOX, better microphone, increased power, the antenna does not need to be thrown out, range is slightly extended. Unfortunately - while there are no special accessories (batteries, covers, etc.), of which there is a lot of UV-5R, but I hope - they will, but for now we are buying up extra batteries in the kit. For flaws in the assembly, I remove one star from "workmanship", but for the combination of properties and price, five stars in general.
Yes: the 89 / 82L version is exactly the same, only more expensive (marketing!). There is a variant of UV-8 - no screen and no numeric keypad. Pofung is the same BaoFeng. Acc is not 3000 mAh, as on a battery, but 1800, as here in Yandex.
The original Nagoya-771 is not fully tightened - you need to put the puck.

UPDATED. No splash protection, only rezinochka on the battery, around the contact. And everything, and the body itself flows through the cracks. Alas. I recently untwisted ... But this does not negate the other advantages, and the radio is not positioned as an "SUV".
