Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II Reviews

Evaluation 4
Advantages: Canon.
Quickly scans.
Photo scanning quality is good.
Disadvantages: After about a year of operation, when scanning a medium format film, light appears in the middle of the frame.
The film itself is also a little brighter, calibration does not help. Especially noticeable with slides, the negatives are almost not noticeable. (I compare with Noritsu and Nikons, which are used in photo labs)
He is still a dust collector, I wipe a couple of minutes before each scan.
Comment: In general, satisfied, before it was epson 2580 it seems. He was very simple. This is more interesting, but it costs an order of magnitude more expensive. Basically, I scan film, photographs less often, so sometimes I remain dissatisfied. But for now, I'm not going to change.

Advantages: I support all the advantages mentioned above.
Disadvantages: 1. There is only one frame for the film in the kit, but you need at least one more to charge the next batch in advance, and also as a backup in case of a breakdown (which is even possible). 2. I could not determine with what razr.spos. slides are scanned. In the file properties, the numbers are 1000-1200 (??). It is not clear whether the permissions for films and slides can be adjusted and how. 3. Not very high-quality shots, incomplete, superimposed, and others. Nevosponimayut or kadrirovat wrong. You have to resort to various tricks, up to single-piece cutting into fragments and lining additional flaps.
Comment: I can reply to u-tehno @ ya / ru. I can share something else.

Advantages: Scan quality, speed, price (before rate increase), plate included for scanning films for 12 frames, autotuning for scanning (conditionally).
Disadvantages: Automatic scan settings / no manual scan mode for stock software, device dimensions (conditionally).
Comment: A wonderful scanner, for its money, of course, was very surprised by the scanning speed, even when setting maximum values. It is worth making a reservation that this scanner replaced Epson V370 (it was 4870 before), so the comparison will be mainly with them. So, scanning photos is 5 times faster in “hard” modes from 400 dpi, while scanning film for a slide at a resolution of 2400 dpi is 1 minute - 1 frame, at 4800 dpi - 1.5 minutes, i.e. very quickly, and since the whole process is automatic, all that is required of you is to lay the film in a plate and "just press the button", as they say in one advertisement, the scanner will do the rest on its own. There is one point - independent scan of color and contrast makes the scanner very good, and what is not corrected is easily corrected in Photoshop, but the fight against "small debris" is not his path, apparently the scanner gives sharpness and everything gets out, therefore for an ideal film scanning is suitable for medium-sized ones, but if you just need to digitize your home archive, or you can bring photos into the photo editor to your mind, that's it. The basic software is very relative - like a two-sided medal: full automation is good: it saves time and effort, but when spot adjustment is needed, automation is powerless and the result is disgusting, on the other hand nobody canceled the third-party software, and occasionally you can use it.
Summing up, we can say the following: for home use - ideal: low cost, relatively more features and functions relative to Epson models for equal cost, high ruble / quality, work speed. But you should remember this is not a professional scanner and you should not expect miracles from it, in any case not for such money, you want an absolute result - look at the Epson V750 Pro, but its price is 40-45 thousand more (at the current rate), therefore all the discontent of the people - cavils, no more, because you need to accurately match the cost with the result. A scanner - I recommend.

Advantages: 1) Low price for acceptable quality.
2) Good quality scanning of negatives negatives
3) Beautiful design
4) Quick scan of documents
5) Scan the image on a format larger than the A4 format with the possibility of gluing it using the supplied software
7) Power adapter built into the scanner
8) Quick on and off scanner
Disadvantages: I don’t see yet, if only to consider the glossy black surface of the lid on which fingerprints remain, but dust is visible as a defect.
Comment: I bought a scanner to scan the films of the family archive. Before that, I scanned the films on the Epson Perfection V370 Photo scanner for six months, so there is something to compare. Immediately caught my eye - a very small noise receiving matrix from Canon: compared with Epson - it is almost there. Epson has a very big noise: at first I took it for silver halides in a film emulsion, but in vain. Yes, I also could not find information on the optical density of the CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner even on my own website, but still this figure D = 3.0 slipped on a foreign website. And this figure is quite possible to believe, compared with a slightly overestimated D = 3.2 for Epson Perfection V370. The performance of scanning one frame of film in a resolution of 4800 dpi is about the same for both scanners in about 2-3 minutes, and the noise of the carriage is about the same. It is possible to scan the film with a resolution of 9600 dpi, however, the time taken to scan one frame of a film's CD to 10–12 minutes increases, the “weight” of one frame increases to 240 megabytes (in TIFF format), with a slight image improvement. I tried to scan color films in FARE 3 mode, but it turned out to be practically useless: it eliminates defects slightly and introduces noticeable distortions in the picture. Otherwise I am satisfied with the purchase.

P.S. Yes, very poor software on the disk, but this is enough for normal operation. I read somewhere that the bundled disc includes a program for scanning Silverfast in a truncated version, but I didn’t have it on the disc: it must be included in the software for bourgeois users.

Advantages: The ability to scan 12 frames of 35 mm film at a time, 3 frames of 120 film, as well as 4 slides in a frame. Excellent scan quality, huge resolution, user-friendly software.
Disadvantages: Extremely quickly, the top cover was scratched, the working glass was scratched slowly (perhaps due to inaccuracy in operation)
It is necessary to cut the film as the cover of the scanner and the frame for the film solved the possibility of pulling the film (hands can not finish)
Comment: The scanner fully met all hopes placed on it. Mostly I scanned the film and after the Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F where it was necessary to install a special translucent lid for each frame and wait about 2-3 minutes CanoScan 9000F Mark II seemed like paradise to me! Had 2 films on 6 shots and go about your business.
I digitized on it about 15,000 frames of film and 5000 pages / photos.

Advantages: great scanner
Disadvantages: don't see yet
Comment: How good that read reviews on this scanner. Excellent scans slides. And it works very fast. Good interface, very convenient tweaks. Excellent image correction at the scanning stage, comparable with photoshop settings. I have had an Epson Perfection 1250 scanner with a slide adapter since 2003. The scanner is very good, but with slides it’s just no way (it was bought for the home archive). I tormented myself like that, I scanned 12 slides, too, like that - and forgot forever.
Canon for the evening I brought a mountain of pleasure in the form of 50 slides. (if you consider that while trying different settings). I will not write anything about speed - everything is exactly in the previous reviews. I am very glad that these reviews were true.

Advantages: Scan speed, accuracy of colors and shades.
Disadvantages: Weight
Comment: The previous 2 authors in my detail painted the main advantages of this scanner. I fully share their point of view. He also took to digitize all that was on paper. The scanner is beautiful, at least for fans for sure. Fully satisfied with the purchase.
If you have a large number of slides or photos, this scanner will be an excellent choice because first of all you have a CCD reading element, which, unlike the CIS element, will have the following advantages -
The best sensitivity to shades. CCD scanners distinguish shades with an accuracy of ± 20%, while CIS scanners - ± 40%. Accordingly, the transfer of parts from CCD scanners will be much better.
- Better depth of field. Depth of field of CIS scanners is ± 0.3 mm, whereas for scanners with CCD it is ± 3 mm. This means that three-dimensional objects located at a distance of 3 mm from the general level will be normally scanned with a CCD scanner, and the image obtained by the CIS scanner will be blurred and blurred. In practice, such items are often deployed thick books.
P / S:
Epson scanner line has a sufficient number of scanners with CCD element, and more budget, but scanning speed is not comparable with this model. The real competitor is the model Epson Perfection V550 Photo, but if you look at the scanning speed at 300 dpi A4 in the specs of the device, you will see a figure of 15 seconds in contrast to 7 seconds for Canon.

Advantages: Very fast - 7sec per pass A4 at 300dpi, without waiting for warming up!
Excellent software included - convenient, functional, intuitive. You can quickly set up everything you need and scan on the machine by pressing a button on the scanner.
The quality of the resulting image is excellent, the colors are on the original.
Disadvantages: If you are ready for its price and dimensions, then there seems to be no flaws :)
Comment: As in the next review I took it to digitize old family photos. When I started doing this on another quite decent scanner for 3 tr, I realized that this process would take a month of time and nerves from me. With all the manipulations it took up to several minutes of pure time for one pass before getting the desired result!
-
Forked up on this machine. And effortlessly digitized for the floor a bunch of albums and photos. Once set the desired parameters and just press the button, but change the pictures. 7 seconds per pass A4! The scanner will clearly find everything, sprinkle around the edges and save it to the given daddy. Even if you put a few photos, he will understand this and save them as separate files.
There are really working functions for removing dust, correcting the fading of photos (if there is no desire to have them even then photoshop), etc ... The films are also quite bright scans, and they, in comparison with the faded prints of the 80s, are much better preserved.
-
In general, the expectations are not exactly justified, but surpassed. Recommend.

Advantages: 1) The most important thing is HIGH SPEED!
Scanning an A4 300dpi page is no more than 7 seconds, and a very quick return of the scanning element (about a second). No warm-up required. Fast enough scans film.
2) the presence of infrared mode to remove dust from photographic films;
3) high quality scan;
4) convenient russified software;
5) the presence of a Russian-language electronic manual;
6) the function of scanning source documents that are larger than the working surface (Combination of images);
7) the function of eliminating the shadow of the binding of books;
8) high quality of recognition of the Russian text, the text can transfer to * .txt, or save to PDF with a recognized text layer;
9) it is possible to integrate with online data storage services;
10) convenient customizable buttons on the cover;
Disadvantages: No USB 3.0 (no competitors either)
The scanner thickness is more than 5 mm (you can’t put it in the briefcase). However, this is not surprising (such thin scanners have not yet been created).
Comment: Great scanner.
Took to digitize the family archive. Digitized film with a resolution of 9600x9600dpi. This resolution is redundant, especially if they were obtained with a film soap box. Now I am sure that I pulled everything out of the films, and I will not have to return to them anymore.
When scanning books, you have to pause for 4 seconds, otherwise you don’t have time to turn the pages.
