On shooting in the studio for a catalog of women's clothing, I tried to shoot shutter speeds in Tv priority mode, set the shutter speed to 1/60 with two pulse sources and ..... O Miracle !! The camera with this lens opened up and bloomed in Tv mode.
Photos turned out sharp and juicy. You can cropped photos while processing almost to a point.
Now in the winter, I walk down the street and the camera is always in the priority exposure mode, he himself sets the required aperture, as a rule, 2.8-3.5 and the required ISO.
I breathed a little. I expect that in summer traveling and traveling this lens will open up even more.
Who knows, maybe this is from the very recipe for the 24-70mm 2.8 USM ii that everyone is looking for? )

Advantages: A great lens for advanced amateurs and professionals. A new generation of lens with a very high resolution.

Disadvantages: The absence of a stabilizer, although this is not the main thing for the pros.

Comment: I have been using it for several years, I can judge by the experience gained in exploitation. There are different opinions here, sometimes the most controversial. In my opinion, in order to give a relatively adequate assessment of this lens, you need to work a decent amount of time with it! The lens is not for reportage due to the lack of a stabilizer. The rule is that the shutter speed should be no longer than the focal length - it does not work here. For example: a focal length of 24 mm and a shutter speed of 1/30 second are lubricated. And 1/160 seconds - the same blur. Why? Resolution! For clarity: 1 square inch has a very large number of pixels and this number is much more sensitive to shake (hand shake) than other older lenses. You can open the aperture and at 1/500 and a shorter shutter speeds to get a decent result, and then for certain conditions of shooting and illumination. STAFF - THIS IS IT! Here he is great. Then it can be argued that it will surpass many fiks of the L series, but again not in all cases. When shooting where you need aperture - it will be worse. Conclusion: the lens (even the most expensive) does not work wonders. A person without a deep immersion in the subject of a photo does not need it, roll off the money and be disappointed. In my opinion, it’s enough with a whale lens with a stubs.24-105 L for a full frame and 15-85 for a crop . Again, study the post-processing programs and shoot in the PAB when you feel the need to do this. All shots on profysayt improved many times in Photoshop!

Advantages: Clear picture. Universal focal lengths. Made well. It feels like a thing.

Disadvantages: Value for money / picture.

Comment: I was looking for a magic lens that makes "those same photos." Unfortunately, it is this little bit of magic that this lens lacks.

Magic photos are on lenses 70-200, 135th, and here the photo is as it is. High quality. There is nothing to complain about, because this is one of the best lenses in the world. And there is no particular alternative at these focal lengths.

If you are an amateur and are looking for that very picture, then try the 135th, 70-200 first, and then this lens.

Disadvantages: For me, no cons. Is that the lack of a good stabilizer

Comment: Together with canon 1dxii, this is a great lens. ISO 25600 workers, and enough in 95% of situations. Autofocus is fast and accurate. For my tasks, two DSLRs and two lenses 24-70 f2.8 II and 70-200 f2.8 is II are enough, and if you take one, then only 24-70 f2.8 II.

Rather controversial moments when everyone decides on his own:
-plastic mounting of filters, certainly not like metal in version 1, but now it is easier to remove polarization filters (on version 1, the filter was stuck and removed with great difficulty)
- many complain about plastic in the case, but thanks to plastic it was possible to reduce the weight, which is a plus. For me personally, the tactile sensations in comparison with the 1st version have not changed. The lens is still felt tightly-knocked down.
- 82mm filter diameter, for me, too, did not become a problem - from Sigma 24-70 f / 2.8 IF EX DG HSM there was a complete set of corresponding filters.
- The lack of a stabilizer is not a problem for me, but rather an inconvenience that forces you to carry a tripod to capture the landscape in the evening / night. People even with a stub in low light conditions is problematic to shoot.
-price. March 2016: new - 118.5k for Eurotest; 142.9k for the PCT.
- not the best price-quality ratio. With an eye on the price, you can give preference to the 1st version, which has long been discontinued and is limited in the flea markets at a price of 45-47k for used \ y.

Comment: Finally, they made a small blend, the old one (on the 1st version) constantly occupied the floor of the backpack.
The best zoom (for me) at the focal 24-70mm, if the aperture of 2.8 is important.
Comparing with used analogues:
- with the 1st version - the 2nd one has faster and more accurate focus, sharper picture, higher contrast.
- with Sigma 35 and 50mm Art fixes, I will say that they will benefit in sharpness and, possibly, colors. But not for the convenience and accuracy of the focus.
- I don’t see any sense in comparing with 85L / 1.2, as well as with 70-200 / 2.8 IS :) you can never get a wide angle :) And if the range of focal 70-200 is in demand, then this is another story )
PS and the ball is ruled by 70-200 / 2.8 IS :)

Advantages: The best zoom on these focal points, in my opinion and in the opinion of many reviewers. Awesome sharpness, elegant color rendering, aperture. The assembly is cool, I have never seen the owners of this subject carry it in the alignment, like other glasses. I also did not need adjustment, although I passed it, just in case :)

Disadvantages: Price (although you have to pay for quality and pleasure); There is a slight 24mm distortion, which is corrected programmatically.

Comment: Those who compare it with the first model and scold about the plastic case, do not forget that the plastic allowed to reduce weight, and I'm not going to hammer nails on them and drop it on the floor. If the case were made of metal, then the subject would be heavier than the first model, because He has more lenses. I agree with one of the commentators that, in sharpness, this lens is on a par with budget fixes, perhaps even not only with budget fixes. From 30 mm to 70 mm is very good, I take pictures with pleasure, you get great photos.
For something they did in the lens fixer - the assembly is excellent, the trunk does not leave.
The hood is only a name, a stub, I left it in the box.
I do not agree about the sabbiness of the sabzh- in my sabzh when shaking, there is a strange sound, but the service said that in this model it should be so, adjustment is not required. So far, everything works fine. This glass will be an excellent long-term investment!

Disadvantages: Sharpness is not very plastic case, some complain of loose rubber, the trunk sometimes leaves itself under weight, a great price

Comment: You should not expect that this lens will replace your wide-angle and portrait fixes at the same time ... this is something in between, that is, a reporter. It is very convenient where it is inconvenient to constantly change the glass and you need to change the magnification all the time - travel, banquets, reports. Perfectly conveys color, not afraid of backlight, almost no chromate, hares almost never catches. But as a portrait painter is very weak, I personally do not like the clarity with the increase. I conducted a small test, the results on my photos. The diaphragm 2.8 has very dull eyes, 3.5 is better, 5.6-8.0 is the clearest, but here it is already slightly blurred by the side.
On the diaphragm 13-18, it is already dark and you need to unscrew the ISO, a graininess appears. Blurs the background is very beautiful in portraits, sometimes not very beautiful blurs the foliage. I do not know, like the others, who say that it is sharp on all the diaphragms, I only have on average. In general, it is worth thinking many times whether you need it. Portraitists and filmmakers in the studio will not like it, but for running around on events and nature, it will be just right.

Disadvantages: The absence of a stabilizer. I personally did not like the picture at the focal length of 24-35 mm and the f3.5-f8 aperture. I can not agree with the lens yet. Perhaps this is not my lens.

Comment: I bought a lens in Pixel24. Revised several copies. Chose. The result - I do not like the lens.

After a trip on vacation, I decided to make an adjustment. A bunch of camera Canon 5DMark III and lens Canon EF 24-70mm f / 2.8L II USM. Adjustment is free for warranty card.

With the lens, we managed to make friends 100%. Frames are very sharp at all focal lengths. It turns out great when shooting in a home studio with two light sources. (two flashes of Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT + two umbrellas against the light).

Advantages: 1. Sharpness over the entire focal length range.
2. Beautiful, one might say, artistic boke.
3. Universal, although someone like.

Disadvantages: For six months of use, the gum of the zoom ring has come off! And this is for all users, unfortunately ...

Comment: For me - a great staff member for Canon 5D Mark III. The only thing - it is very expensive for the lens, in which the gum falls off. There were very cheap lenses in my use, but there was no such incident even with active use under various adverse conditions.
