Just not irreplaceable focal, on universality there are no equal. I rode the floor of Asia with me, shot both night and day, and in the rain, and in the heat and cold, rented weddings and landscapes. This is my favorite glass!

There is a whole set of L fixes except the 14th and 200th. 50 is the most beautiful in the picture and this is his main feature, the closest to him is 85 in the picture, which is sharper, but not so colorful in the open, not so contrasting especially in backlit and slower and heavier. It is very short-sighted to compare lenses only in sharpness, in all other parameters it is one of the best fixes. When shooting female portraits of 50 and 85, there are no equal, a sigma that 50 that 85 does not give and close such a picture and the blur of a sigma with identical apertures is somehow weaker, there is no such volume. This 50 1.2 in the picture is not much worse than 50 1.0 which is very expensive.

Comment: I bought it yesterday and already want to share my impressions. Despite the fact that autofocus is slow and sometimes so on, it’s just Magic Glass! I walk and enjoy like a child. - Very slow autofocus. By itself, I use the lens only on a wide aperture. Autofocus is slow and often fails altogether. I shoot in difficult conditions, in the studio there are no problems with this, of course. As a result of the transition to an almost complete manual focus, a slight gap appeared at the focus ring (approx. 0.5mm)

Comment: The lens is unique, after it completely dissatisfies everything darker than 2.8 and really do not want to buy zooms at all.

Advantages: It’s strange to hear from an adult man, but I just fell in love with this lens! Amazing picture, beautiful and deep bokeh, high sharpness, good autofocus work. The lens is made of high quality, beautiful and solid looks on the camera (much better than all sorts of zooms, wide-angle and telephoto), unpretentious and versatile. For professional portraits is not suitable, but at the amateur level, portraits are excellent. Depth of field on the open aperture and on FF is surprising. True, this greatly hinders video filming. The lens is equipped with a lens of uranium "emerald" ... A very nice lens, which is strangely ignored by most photographers, is increasingly using zooms. If I had to use only one lens, I would choose only this one and no other.

Disadvantages: Slightly changes the focal length with polar values ​​of sharpness, sharpness drops slightly at the open aperture along the edge (slightly). Dear.

Comment: Absolutely awesome lens! It's amazing that I used to use vario / lenses and nothing more. In addition, I still have 24-70 / 2.8 and 85 / 1.2. The latter is a separate song, but it does not have universality. Another thing - fifty dollars. Now I take it on all business trips. You can shoot almost everything, except perhaps fast moving objects. The first time I went and "clicked" everything, then the euphoria passed, but the most positive feelings remained. It is not cheap, but it is better to take an uncompromising fix than a zoom at the same price - the quality of the pictures is incomparable. But if the main objects for filming are running children and dogs, it is better to take a low-range zoom - 24-70 / 2.8, for example.
