Advantages: Very sharp with an open, smart, dust and moisture protection (checked!), Comfortable weight
Disadvantages: attracts attention when not necessary, but when it is necessary +
Comment: Long thought: Do I need him? . Well that thought up to a sharp rise in price. I will say right away - I use it together with 6D, everything is super, exactly what I expected. I have in stock and 135L and 85 1.8, but I wanted glass "for the lazy", i.e. zoom In Travel exactly what you need, because the focal points on FF are very comfortable, the weight is excellent, he took with him another shirik - and here it is happiness. Diaphragm 4 is very enough, because Sharpness with an open well, very happy. Another question is artistry, if traveling backboarding is stupid, then at weddings, of course you want 2.8, but !!! dragging 1.5 kg is a bit too much. Separately, about dust and moisture protection - really super, it was in the Sahara (desert), there was sand like pollen, it was packed everywhere, so that it could not unscrew the hood. When I detached the lens from the bayonet, I saw a bunch of sand around the sealing gum, really saved. And the zoom ring and focusing - nothing hammered, everything is smoothly spinning! Conclusion: one must take P.S. stub really works, but buzzes)

Advantages: Picture. Bokeh. Optical quality - fixed astigmatism, coma, vignette, aberration. High resolution center-edge. Stub really working (pleasantly rustling) Motor tenacious and accurate. Constructive. Good work with the converter 1.4, with almost no loss of quality
Disadvantages: Manual focus in an upright position may not work even for a new one (99th issue) Check before you buy
Comment: I put 4 only for such a possible joint - glass is still Japanese. PROF. and the price of 40,000 thousand. Only 2.8 is inferior 2 usm. Who for the genre lacks f-2.8 or something else ... then smile wider, in this series of 5 types, and do not drive that something is wrong with you.

Disadvantages: - The hood is worn very tightly at first and creaking.
Comment: I have a main workhorse. A smart portrait portrait at all focal lengths, both on the crope and on the full frame. True, the diaphragm 4.0 often requires working with an additional light (flash on the rack, with synchronization over the air), or raising the ISO. But the portraits are sharp, without distortion and with soft, airy and voluminous bokeh. After him on the focal length of 50 mm and a hole 1.4, it already seems more boring. Of all the lenses that I have (17-40 / 4 L and Sigma 50 1.4), it is the only one that does not require autofocus adjustment in the carcass. Works out its price by 100%. Steeper than it is only 2.8 IS USM.

Advantages: Canon's best zoom. Better only 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM II, but this is different money and a different weight and size.Sharp as a razor on all focal points and on all apertures, and according to these indicators it hits not only other zooms, but also many L-fixes. Those who do not believe - on the sites Digital-Piccheri.kom, Fotozonu.De, etc .. Durable constructive, dust, moisture protection, internal focusing, hood, cover, etc. etc. - a full set of L-boon.
Gives amazingly beautiful pictures, including portraits (fluorite lens works like this?))). Stabilizer is worth your money.

Disadvantages: For two years of operation not identified. But ... there is no attachment for a tripod, although it seems to exist in nature. Required when working with teleconverter on macro photography.
Comment: Higly recommended! Together with the teleconverter 1.4x, it turns into a zoom macro lens for shooting flower insects with a stabilizer with picture quality no worse or maybe better than the Canon 100 mm L macro lens.

Advantages: 70-200 / 4LIS is one of the best “zooms” of “Canon” - everyone has already read about it.
Disadvantages: for a backpack traveler, maybe a little long.
Comment: There was a great temptation to take without a "stub" - almost 2 times cheaper - the same fluorite, a high-quality construct, in some ways, not worse. 2.8 for myself excluded for myself immediately. I am not ready to carry such trips, hotels with me ... I still advise you to wait, save up, but buy with a “stub”. The ability to shoot without a tripod on long exposures is expensive, and a cheap 70-200 runs the risk of dust in your cherished photo cabinet due to its limited use. By the way, the picture from 70-200 / 4LIS, really impressive is much stronger than from 24-105.

Comment: Glass is just awesome !!!!!)
I tried on all 70-200 for a long time, from the simplest to 2.8 with a stub .. I decided to stop at this ... tried ... and just realized that this is the best lens from the existing ones (17-40, 50 f1.8) ...
The picture quality is just awesome, the stub works 100% - just super. For reportage photography, the very thing ... I don’t know how to shoot in cloudy weather for the same without a stub ?! Hands should be ... well, very strong)
Portraits turn out just gorgeous, very sharp ... a picture of what is called live.
Spent money is not a pity after seeing the result! THING! Now my "favorite")))
I recommend to everyone!!!
P.S. Six months of my own possession have passed) with this glass .... I can say that this is a very good Canon lens for my money !!!
Here are some pictures taken with this lens.

Comment: I consider it one of the best reportage lenses from this manufacturer. Perfect sharpness across the entire field of the frame on cameras with Kf = 1.6.
When the need arose and matured, telezum was at a loss for the proposed options. But after they gave the store a chance to try out three 70-200 lenses (4, 4IS, 2.8), including allowing them to shoot outside (in clear weather), I stopped my choice on version 4 IS. The spring mood helped “strangle the toad” and now I am happy with the pictures made in my opinion by one of the most remarkable reportage lenses from Canon.
Already at home, with a flash and on a tripod, I took several portrait shots of my wife with this lens. After looking at the pictures before processing, my second half, not particularly versed in the photo, scolded me for too high detail of its "imperfections". With a soft filter, the result is better, but it still demanded improvement. For myself, I concluded: I will use telezum for a portrait, but at fr close to 100 and with mandatory post-processing. Good luck to all!

Advantages: Take with a stub. Without a stub, so as not to write is not an option. In the evening, do not take off normally. The glass itself is decent, the light is compensated by a stub. It is lighter than the big brother 2.8 ... compact ... It is very convenient to use a stub when shooting video on the 550D. Decent TV for a long time ...
Disadvantages: It makes no sense to write about luminosity ... There are simply no other shortcomings.
Comment: If the choice is for video filming, then not to say it, but the light plays a role .. But the elder brother will not correct this! Do not flatter yourself. We need fixes here! Or as an alternative to fixes from Zenith. I was pleasantly surprised, through the adapter gives a decent result when shooting video ... But of course the original ones are better, but they cost several times more, and the 1.4 doesn’t improve the particular case, especially on a crop. Gelius gives a picture of a standard when video filming is not worse .... and you can forgive him for all the sins for his price ... But if you need a wagon (for photos and videos), then this is beyond competition ... As a TV camera is very good ... The stub is very smart and you can really see the difference .... You can shoot with a certain skill and certain scenes from the hands without a shag ... There is no camera shake ... and easy ... Hands are not taken away ... I am very pleased. I have a bunch of 17-40, too, 4L ... For video filming, a large hanging light helps a lot .... And for a photo flash from Kenon (of course). I have never failed to glitch ... I advise (but do not skimp on the stub ...).

Advantages: I will start with a constructive: it is fabulous, you can only find fault with white, but this does not cause unpleasant emotions in me. Easy enough to wear all day, aperture constant, dust, moisture protection. Sharpness - to talk about it - to repeat what has already been said many times, but not to say about it is to curse your heart !! Immediately after the purchase, I checked on different modes: everything is fantastic sharply !!
Disadvantages: Subjectively there is one: I need a tripod heel! It is for sale, but it is necessary to look for what to put in the kit ....
Comment: I already wrote about optics with a relative aperture of F = 4; I see no point in repeating, it makes sense to say that Canon, having released a series of Pro-optics with F = 4, made a competent marketing move !! ALL would be so !!

Advantages: Sharpness! Excellent color rendition. Certainly stabilizer. 1/15 with almost no lubrication. Constructive - no sliding parts, dust and moisture protection. Another very convenient manual focus ring. Small weight and size (for telephoto with constant f / 4). Price, but I think it’s worth the money.
Disadvantages: Very high resolution optics, wants a full-frame carcass, or mark ... although this is probably not a drawback.
Comment: I almost do not regret that I purchased. And I recommend it to everyone.
