Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II Reviews

Evaluation 4
Advantages: quality-dimensions-price ratio. shooting without flash almost everywhere - ISO up to 4000 is more than working. ergonomics imputed.
Disadvantages: There was no super-sharpness of the pictures to please. autofocus is not perfect. battery dwarf, extra insanely expensive, but the Chinese somehow (still?) did not catch on. flimsy (even compared to Mark l).
Comment: previous cameras: Zenit, further film, and then digital top Pentax, i.e. It is my first compact. So, THIS IS NOT A MIRROR, I told myself the first 2 months, cursing. I'm used to it. paradoxically, but on the mirrors, I noticeably less used the purely manual mode, but here I constantly have to think out, especially for autofocus. with such small dimensions and lack of wheels is not easy.
bought a viewfinder ($ 300 !!!), could, it turns out, get along - mount-shoot it here and there confusion. maybe only in very bright sun will be useful ...

Conclusion: see dignity ;-)

Evaluation 1
Advantages: It’s hard to talk about virtues when the disadvantages outweigh everything. However, the color for the camera of this class is quite good.
Disadvantages: With such a declared camera matrix, the quality of images is an order of magnitude worse than that of its “brother” Canon G16 (under absolutely identical shooting conditions and in different modes). The frame is “soapy” and not sharp, there is a lot of noise in the resulting frame. To get a more or less decent shot, you always have to shoot in RAWe, and therefore you can forget about the serial shooting.
Comment: The camera is released by Canon solely for marketing purposes - a lot of meaningless "bells and whistles". A decent photo can be obtained only under excellent lighting conditions. It may be useful to someone when traveling to take pictures of landscapes and architecture, because of a wide-angle lens and when there is no desire to carry with them a huge camera with interchangeable optics.

Advantages: Excellent shooting in low light conditions without flash. And the system of intellectual image stabilization really great compensates for camera shake. This is especially appreciated when you shoot while driving in a car at high speed, on a rough road and in low light. And in order for the camera to instantly understand what to focus on, it is enough to poke a finger on the touch screen. I did not study all the possibilities, the automatic mode was enough.
Disadvantages: If you shoot intensively all day, in the evening the battery can sit down completely. So for long shots, it is better to buy a second one or recharge the first one in time.

Evaluation 4
Advantages: matrix, video quality, touch screen, smartphone connection.
Disadvantages: sometimes very smart, the original battery is VERY expensive, and there are no analogues.
Comment: The camera is good, but certainly not perfect. The main disadvantage is an expensive battery.

Advantages: Paints, air, Made in Japan
Disadvantages: 1. Soap on Real Size.
2. Sharpness contour in anime style (including with RAW) with:
- any apertures
- IS on-off.
- focus bracketing
- macro and nemacro
...
3. With an increase in ISO soap increases significantly.
4. Clumsy clamshell screen.
Comment: Clean colorful "air" soap.

Evaluation 5
Advantages: A set of qualities from the predecessor G1x. This is both a lens and a matrix, and of course, the output image.
Disadvantages: Battery. You don't notice how fast time flies with Canon.
Comment: From the very beginning, I distributed the cameras into classes and stumbled upon it, I thought it was not clear what class I should refer to. Like and compacts, but in fact it is with mirrors. I was pleasantly surprised to buy and get acquainted closer.

Evaluation 5
Advantages: Convenient, for its quality, perhaps the smallest, excellent optics, the wheels on the lens are configured for different functions
Disadvantages: It would be desirable in all modes to set the functions of the coelseek, as well as in the auto manual autofocus with the wheel left.
Comment: Camera for those who do not want to buy a DSLR, like a SLR and messing with interchangeable optics. Considered all the shortcomings of the G1. And compared to the G11 that was before him at me, just a huge step forward. At the beginning, I thought that this type of tilting of the screen is worse than tilting, but if they made a swivel, it would have made it difficult to grip with my left hand when photographing when the screen is pointing up, and with this method it is very convenient, and for a 180-degree turn its location on top and not with the side does not matter.
I recommend those who are not yet ready to carry a large bag with photo bibs, but the quality of the soap cases is no longer satisfactory, but I also want to set the parameters with pens and there the background in the portrait is blurred and the other good stuff. He, too, will not be disappointed by lovers of the full automaton, but in my opinion it is expensive for only an automaton.

Advantages: Made in Japan (for those who understand this says it all).
"Analogs" of other firms are not Japanese.
In all reviews they write that it is heavy and at the same time “forget” about the photo + video filming (including FullHD) in the corresponding BB mode (including the number “underwater”) in the original box (the box is also Made in Japan) .
And for boxing, Canon usually offers weights.
Therefore, this camera is not just so heavy ...
Boxing, by the way, allows you to shoot not only under water, but in any extreme: rain + mud + wind + snow + ...
I have such a set of G7 + boxing has been serving more than 7 years.
G12 + boxing and G15 + boxing also serve without complaints, since this whole Canon = Made in Japan.
In fact, this pair (fotik + box) is unparalleled in terms of features and quality.
And now Canon G can fully work (including in boxing) also remotely (contactlessly) with WiFi control.
Competitors, ay ...
Disadvantages: They are meaningless to search, because there are no real competitors.
Therefore, even the presence of deficiencies will not turn away the target buyer from the purchase. Cameras Canon Made in Japan - this is primarily for the target buyer, and only then for the mass (often at the end of sales).
Comment: Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II (as well as Canon EOS 5DMIII, including those with L-kami-fixes) do not represent WOW values at the level of intracameral JPEG.
These fotiki for RAW and their subsequent processing (including creative and professional).
I think this is done specifically for at least two reasons:
1.Profi can promptly send an in-camera JPEG over any communication channel (including unprotected) to the customer, and if the frame (plot) is commercially interesting, then he will receive money for providing a high-quality RAW image stored by the author.
2. It is necessary to discourage the money housewives (and others like them) to do something different with their purpose in order to get a masterpiece, not having to do this either in the head or in the heart.
Automatic modes and use of a stabilizer in a fotik mainly for non-professional use, or for use in extreme (including boxing), and not for the production of masterpieces by housewives.

Advantages: just great shots. G1 X Mark II is a modification of the G1x model: they left an excellent matrix from the previous model, excellent optics, removed the viewfinder (and I don’t need it personally, really need it, it is purchased separately) as a result the device became smaller, the new rotary touch screen is more convenient ( click on the screen to select the focus as on the cell) + a lot of technological changes,
but most importantly, it makes great shots and videos
Disadvantages: a bit heavy, but you can get used to it
Comment: I really wanted to buy this model, because I was always impressed with the photographs that the previous G1X model made. Here they left the same matrix, which for me is an obvious plus, they added a lot of technical innovations .... but I repeat, the main thing is beautiful pictures. Of course, I read reviews on the Internet from respected professionals and amateur photographers, but gentlemen, if you like Sony and Nikon products so much, use it for health, and I, as a consumer, like the quality of this canon and this camera pleases!
