Fujifilm X70 Reviews

Evaluation 4
Advantages: Classic appearance
Good matrix processor
Familiar Fuji color scheme
the device feels expensive in the hand
all specifications match the description
Disadvantages: unpleasant strap - rub your neck
it may seem that noisy focuses
Comment: overall impressions pleased, took in addition to the d7100 SLR to take on trips and on short walks
Murzakov Vadim November 28, 2017
Evaluation 5
Advantages: Manual settings
It is possible to switch to the electronic shutter (timelaps, hyperlaps, silent mode)
Interesting colors (film profiles)
High-speed sync with a built-in flash (useful when you need to highlight the shadow when photographing in bright sunshine)
Inclined, touch-sensitive display (the ability to select the focus point with one touch, convenient when shooting from the hip or from the ground, when you do not want to go to the belly in the dirt)
Dimensions
Conveniently in the hand
Weight
He took the black (does not attract attention)))))
Disadvantages: 28mm (a bit wide for me, but it's subjective)
Sometimes skips the focus mode switch
There is no possibility to use a digital teleconverter when shooting in raf (sometimes there is such a desire)
Not included in the battery charging kit directly from the network (I have two batteries and it is impossible to charge the second one during the shooting)
Autofocus is not hasty (sometimes I miss interesting shots when shooting playing, running children) ((((there would be several interesting shots more in the family archive
Comment: An excellent, compact camera (conditionally pocket), always with you, the lens would not be f 2.8 but f 1.8, then there would be no price for it))). I also noticed a strange feature, shooting footage with Fuji on x70 and parallel to nikon d7100 for some reason is darker, with absolutely identical settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO), I don’t understand what this is connected with (maybe different manufacturers have their own photosensitivity standards) )). I like that with this camera I am almost like a ninja (silent and imperceptible)))), compared to a DSLR, when photographing which, the people around are obviously tense and begin to behave unnaturally.
When, finally, the camera manufacturers deceived the physicist and pushed a full frame and optics f 1.4 into this case)))))))

Evaluation 4
Advantages: Compact, good image quality in the dark at high ISO, bright, vivid colors, fairly sharp images
Disadvantages: The lack of an optical viewfinder, in the bright sun is difficult to use the display, it is not visible, short battery life, the inability to turn off the display when using an external optical viewfinder, no stabilizer, inconvenient control, constantly touch the control wheel of exposure compensation, you need to follow
Comment: Good model, but not great

Evaluation 5
Advantages: compact size
silent shutter
APC matrix - high-quality image
Fujifilm excellent brand colors
USB charging
stylish appearance
Flash sync over the entire shutter speed range of a mechanical shutter
Disadvantages: no separate battery charger included
loud diaphragm closure
no blend
Comment: More detailed impressions about the camera told in a blog.
http://photomax78.blogspot.ru/2017/01/fujifilm-x70.html
The camera is compact, it fits easily into a small bag. And also completely in hand - you can take pictures of the street unnoticed.
When the shutter is triggered, the camera is almost inaudible. The greatest noise from the diaphragm drive (the shutter is central), but on the street this is almost unheard of. By the way, when I got the camera out, I thought that the electronic shutter was turned on by default - so quiet and the mechanical one works. And you can not only turn off the sound, but also choose three options for the sound of the shutter release: D
In short. Of course there is no perfect camera. Face detection works worse than Micro 4/3 camera cameras.
The screen brightness can be adjusted quite strongly. There were no problems in the sun.
Unlike the X-T1, the settings do not accidentally go astray when you pull out or remove the camera.
Since this camera is not the main one and you don’t walk with it especially for a photo session, the battery was always enough for a day - it was never fully discharged. So for a tourist who has a socket in the room, it will do. In addition, you can recharge in the car. And in St. Petersburg now there are generally stops with USB at which you can recharge the phone, well, and this camera;)

Evaluation 5
Advantages: High-speed sync built-in flash
Manual shooting
Focusing speed
Burst speed
It’s not strange, film imitation modes
28mm focal for me turned out to be even better than 35 mm on photo walks.
Swivel screen.
Minimum size with APC-C matrix
Disadvantages: 1. There is no protective film on the screen in the kit, it is for this camera that you need it (we carry it in your pocket in your bag).
2. An uncomfortable focus selection lever (c / s / m) is very small and slips.
3. Electronic multifunctional ring on the lens - quite unpleasant to use it.
4. No charging from the network included
Comment: I took it as a second camera, now the camera is always with me in my pocket.
Chose between her and x100t.
x100t did not suit the size and weight.

At the moment, this is the best compact for me (Quality / Size / Control).

Evaluation 5
Advantages: size, functionality, image quality
Disadvantages: lens cap, touchscreen functionality not improved
Comment: after feedback on super-noisy focusing, I already thought it was a real problem
in fact, the focus is audible, but no more; the only drawback here can be a cumbersome macro photography of sleeping people - if someone suddenly has such a need

The controls are very well thought out - each key setting is on its own wheel, including one that allows you to set the machine if you don’t want to play with this setting
plus 7 programmable buttons for settings that lacked wheels - white balance, ISO and others

Wifi transmission in general is a song - the application is very thoughtful: it works quickly, returns to the connection point itself; there is no way to compare with cameras - but with wifi-controlled toys there is a significant difference

due to lack - the touch screen is very poorly used when compared with shooting with the same phone; static digital zoom - 1x, 2x, 3x
no smooth approach with your fingers; in the photo view mode, flipping as if broken from under the fingers, because of what it looks not very nice; Zoom is also not the same as used to phones; theoretically this can be fixed in future firmware

Also, traditional for most cameras, the problem with the cover is
it is not clear why you can not make it magnetic or tied, or even self-opening
plus for microfiber inside the lid, minus for the method of fastening in which she constantly strives to fall out of the hands

Advantages: - Exceptional compactness (climbed into the cover of the Canon-soap dish)
- Excellent lens design (it’s not about the fact that it blurs the background very much - it’s not so - but about the quality of the bokeh itself, harmony, and the shape of the highlights)
The lens has excellent sharpness if you get into focus.
- Rotary touch screen (including selfie-position)
- Keeps high ISO values quite well (2000 and even 3200 quite working)
- The color rendition is interesting with proprietary versions of film imitation (much better than modern Sony and Nikon, but Canon is out of competition for shooting people of skin tone)
- Ability to shoot macro (short focusing distance of the lens, although it is better to switch to manual mode here)
Disadvantages: - Terrifying autofocus (loud, slow, with occasional misses - frames have to be checked)
- The curvature of the image field (this is not a curse, but a technical term - at the edges of the frame, objects that are closer to the shooting than the center of the frame that breaks off when trying to shoot something flat) get into focus
- Curved menu (inconvenient, illogical - I do not understand what prevents the company from doing normal)
- A small number of touch functions completes the curvature of the menu (even hoping for a new firmware - there are so many places where you can use the sensor, but alas)
- Low battery life
Comment: Fuji has a kind of control. Someone likes, some do not. After a week of shooting, I got used to such a system, but it didn’t become a reference for me. The touch screen was in the subject, even in such a truncated form (only the choice of the focus point and the shutter release).

Fuji was the owner of the X-E1 and X-T10 - the general impressions of the shooting are the same.

The main problem X70 - unpredictable autofocus, coupled with the curvature of the image field. You can get used to its features, but stress is present. Many shots went to the garbage, because the plot significant objects were not as sharp as we would like. Interestingly, when shooting a landscape, this happens more often than in close-up photos.

As it is not sad, it is better if Samsung released such a camera, the Koreans would pull up the autofocus, make a sane menu. In pursuit of the hipstership, Fuji persists in delusions.

Advantages: Chic weighty camera body. What alloy was made in official sources I did not find the information, but in my hand I feel very nice. And in general, in terms of assembly, there is absolutely nothing to complain about.

Compact size. Compact is nowhere, honestly. A flat lens is beautiful and comfortable. Can be put in the pocket of outerwear.

Control wheels on the body - shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation. Everything can be translated into automatic mode both together and separately. On the lens ring, you can bring the ISO control. Almost any button can assign its own function. Management is incredibly convenient and flexible.

The matrix is very good. I don’t expect any miracles after the D700, of course, it doesn’t take pictures in the dark. But in sufficient light, the picture taken in the RAF is absolutely predictable and does not cause any complaints. JPGs were surprisingly high quality. Sometimes even beautiful. They even began to appear thoughts shoot in them, as on the film :)

Functions. I will say simply - there is everything. Sound, flash, mechanical shutter, autofocus lights - are disabled in any combination. There is a bracketing of almost everything, anything. In general, I did not come up with such a setting I needed, which the camera did not have.

Lens - considering the cost of the camera and the size of the lens itself, you can rate it as "very good." Of course, in the picture it loses to lenses for a full frame from 1.4. But I am not sure that it was technically possible to place a noticeably greater luminosity and sharpness in such a size. Sharpness is very good, bokeh as it should be at 2.8. Focuses close enough to the subject, so it turns out almost macro. Well, with a stretch, like about smartphones. To the credit of the lens, I would say that the FUJINON XF18mm F2 had a focus range of approximately 2 times longer (considered as an alternative to FUJINON XF18mm F2 R + X-T10).

The sloping screen was one of the most important criteria - with this, the X70 is also fine. It is more convenient for me to frame it than with the viewfinder.
Disadvantages: The most serious drawback is slow focusing. Just go slowly lens in the lens. Compared to the D700 and J2, it was somehow unexpected. In justification of X70 I will say that the D700 and J2 are very fast cameras. The Nikon 1 series, in terms of the speed of the electronics and the electro-mechanical part, is almost the fastest mirrorless cameras on the market. And the autofocus on the X70 also sometimes misses.

But this stuff, for my taste. In any case, when working, it does not cause discomfort.

In addition, there is no stabilizer in the camera. I do not know what caused it - the place of the model in the line, or the technical inability to fit it in the desired size. This, however, is also not a mandatory option, but it would be nice.

And now the real file of engineers - the application and communication with the camera. Not only does the application look like a student project in 2009, it still does not work :) Anyway, I tried to use it twelve times. It turned out about three. Or did not connect, or the connection was immediately torn. When the connection is broken, the camera has to be turned off and on. Perhaps you can wait longer until he comes to himself, but who will have time for this?

In general, the respected representation of Fujifilm, tell your managers that you need to somehow solve this problem. About the non-working application for all camera models did not write just lazy. As Igor Mann says in such cases, “The point of contact sucks.”
Comment: More than half a year ago I was puzzled by the choice of a compact camera instead of the untimely dead Nikon J2. I used it as a "camera for every day." Besides him, there is a Nikon D700 for more serious filming.
The selection criteria were: a large matrix, good optics, an inclined screen, always a compact size, taking into account the lens. Plus, I wanted to try to control the exposure parameters in the form of wheels on the case.
I considered the Olympus OM-D, Sony Alpha 5100-6000, Nikon J5, Fujifilm A2, M1, E2 and ... did not buy anything. Everything turned out quite expensive and not so compact for the money. After all, it would be necessary to immediately buy a lens instead of a whale, to buy an APS-C and 3.5-5.6 has no reason. Since photography is not my main activity, I didn’t see the point of spending ~ 100 thousand rubles for a toy that doesn’t fit in every bag.
Since all this time, Instagram required creative implementation, in April 2016 I returned to the need for a compact camera and accidentally saw the X70 model on the Market. I studied the characteristics, looked at the appearance, looked at a couple of foreign video reviews and realized that this is very similar to what I need.
I drove into the store, twirled it in my hands, took it off, compared it with the X-T10 + 18: 2, asked the consultant a few questions from the series “can it ...?”. Surprisingly, the camera was able to. Everything that can be configured is configured in the menu. Arguments "contra" I have ended, I realized that we must take. And took :)

A few days of shooting - I am very pleased. The picture is obtained at the level of a Nikon \ Canon SLR camera with APS-C and a lens with aperture ratio not less than 1.8. Only this all lies in the pocket !!! Adobe Camera RAW understands camera from version 9.4. Lens correction is sewn into the camera and automatically applied to the RAF file. In terms of noise and lens soap, NEFs with the X70 are closer to the D700 from 24-85 2.8-4 than to the baby J2.

In general, ladies and gentlemen, if you know exactly what you want, then this camera is for you!

Advantages: Feedback from the second user in Russia Fujifilm X70;) I can just say I can compare (if I may say so) only with the Canon 70D (and that 24-70 / 4L lens) - I have no more cameras and have not.
Advantages:
- the size
- image quality
- assembly
- appearance
- functional
Disadvantages: Long battery life - about 4.5 hours
The menu, in comparison with the Canon stumpy - you need to get used to
The screen, although touch-sensitive, doesn’t have many functions available through touch control - mainly zoom when viewing and focusing when shooting.
Comment: I rented on M - and if you do everything right, then the picture gives excellent.
The pocket of the jacket fits easily. There is a lace around the neck, but it’s not convenient to take pictures with it - it often gets in the way.

Video - you can safely shoot - quality decent.

Vobchem found exactly what I was looking for - not to take a camera with me every day, and no-no, no, something to click / somebody.

Advantages: Compact size
Good ergonomics and grip (for this size)
All settings are duplicated by mechanical wheels.
The optimum focal length of 28mm is all included and not yet rounded.
Large APSC matrix (matrix like in big amateur reflex cameras)
Excellent photo quality and color reproduction. In most cases, it makes no sense to even bother processing in LIGHTROOM. wide options of manual settings or built-in film imitations and filts will allow you to get your plans without post processing.
Build quality and appearance.
A folding screen allows you to take a selfie.
An adequate number of megapixels, a larger number will only give problems.
Disadvantages: The size and weight is still slightly larger than the main competitor RICOH GR and the price is 40% more expensive than the NIKON COOLPIX A, although there is something to overpay compared to NIKKON. RICOH more palpable easier and more comfortable to carry in your pocket.

The price is high, but this is our current exchange rate. Abroad it is even more expensive.
Comment: It looks like I'm the first user of this camera in the Russian Federation and therefore I just had to write this review.
I travel a lot around the world, travel through several countries, where I ride a motorcycle, where I walk a lot, climb into the mountains. All this can be done only on the lung, there is no place for huge mirror cameras around the neck with a set of lenses in the bag. There are also many places and countries where you should not attract the attention of a huge camera.
The compact size and flip screen will make it easier to take pictures where it is for some reason impossible.
In general, I even carry out object shooting during business trips when I need to photograph various products.
The convenience of manual settings compared with the SONY NEX \ A6000 is much better. I like the quality of the photo more than on the A6000.
This camera has a fixed focal length of the lens - for those who do not know what it is - it is impossible to zoom in / out (ZOOM only with their feet :)
This is done in order to install a compact high-aperture lens and in the end get the best image quality, especially in poor lighting conditions.
There is no built-in viewfinder, which means that in bright sunshine it becomes more difficult to photograph because the dash is not visible on the screen. But you can install external.
About the video I will not say anything, I do not shoot.
In fact, in X70 we have in a very compact package the functionality and image quality as in a good mirror device without the possibility of changing lenses and ZOOM. The rival of this device is only 1 - RICOH GR.
