Reviews of Nikon 18.5mm f / 1.8 Nikkor 1

Evaluation 5
Advantages: Aperture, compactness, distortion less than a zoom lens, the price is acceptable
Disadvantages: Optical sharpness below, no zoom :)
Comment: The lens absolutely meets expectations. Quality corresponds to the price.

Rescues in low light conditions in situations where the flash does not help or ruin the frame. But there are no miracles in the world, and you will pay for the wide open aperture by lowering the optical resolution.

For portraits fits perfectly, bokeh is present, if you like it.

Perfect lens for the above tasks. Every day IMHO more comfortable whale. Zoom is needed. And if you want a sharp shot, then the diaphragm will have to be covered, and with a closed diaphragm, the advantages of this lens will disappear.

Advantages: Aperture, compactness, picture quality, price
Disadvantages: the focus ring wouldn't hurt
Comment: I've been shooting for more than half a year on Nikon1 J2. I bought it in December in addition to the whale 11-27.5, when it became absolutely impossible to live with the St. Petersburg lack of normal light. Immediately became a favorite. I rented portraits in a room without a flash; flowers and even landscapes work well.

Recommend for Nikon1? Moreover, the choice is small :)

Advantages: Aperture Probably the price (although it is difficult to compete with Canon 50 / 1.8)
Light - lighter than 10mm (or the metal is easier or the glass is smaller, but it alerted me)
Disadvantages: It focuses more slowly than 10mm, for me the dimensions of 18.5mm are already large after 10mm, in conjunction with the V1 this situation will not worsen much, but it will not climb into the expensive corporate case under V1 + 10mm.
Comment: After half a year of use, the Nikon 1 V1 took as the second to the whale 10mm, for concerts and parties.
Baptism took place in the New Year in the forest without a flash, by the light of a fire, candles and diode flashlights. While I am delighted with his shooting opportunities with a lack of lighting.
It did not seem to me particularly sharp, at least compared to 10mm.
My favorite remains 10mm, but also 18.5mm performs its "portrait" functions adequately, and there are no other options.

Advantages: price, aperture, compactness
Disadvantages: barrel
Comment: Today I bought this lens, the photos at the output are very beautiful. Only discovered the presence of barrels. I think it makes no sense to change, because I looked through a lot of photos taken on this lens and realized that this was normal for him. I think it will be a staffer on my nikon 1 J3 =)

Advantages: Aperture, constructive. Quick focus. Compact.
Disadvantages: Very good "catches hares".
Comment: The absence of a lens folding mechanism (like at 10-30 and 30-110) is a big plus. A very unreliable construction turned out - by 10–30 it had already become loose and under some conditions it turned on the camera without my participation. There is simply no such possibility.
The lens is very light. He became a regular on J1 instead of whale 10-30.The hood is suitable from 30-110, but it is wound tight, the problem is "for". There is no stabilizer, but with such luminosity it is not very necessary.

Advantages: Cheap enough.
Light.
Without the unlock button, unlike the regular zoom.
As much as possible a pleasant blurry background.
At 1.8 quite sharp .. pleasantly surprised me.
Disadvantages: "Barrel" is.
Found a speck of dust between the glass .. sometimes made in China however.
It is difficult to find on sale hood.
Comment: Small, light. After normal lenses in the hands of a toy. Cheated ring on the lens. At first I thought it was for manual focusing, but it turned out to be a dummy.
It can become a regular lens if there are no big claims to the "barrel".
It is very convenient that there is no lock button as in zoom))
The cover is removed and you can immediately remove.
Quickly focuses.
Took for shooting "Subjects" for online stores such as hand-made. And this is quite the optimal angle for landscapes, people, architecture (whom annoying distortions will be taken by a decent technique)
Lens for all occasions. Take not regret it. And there is simply no choice.

Advantages: Aperture, compactness, build quality, speed AF
Disadvantages: they are not for that kind of money
Comment: bought yesterday and immediately try ..
the first shots - the evening, the poor home lighting, incandescent lamps - with such a lens - you can forget about the flash
there where with my whale pancake 10mm 2.8 the automatic machine set ISO3200, here it does on ISO 800 - 900 (which are for workers Nikon V1)
