Reviews the Nikon 70-200mm f / 4G ED VR AF-S Nikkor

Evaluation 4
Advantages: + Excellent sharpness over the entire range of focal lengths. Both on croquet and on FF.
+ In general, a good construct
+ For the TV, it is quite compact
+ Fast Focus
Disadvantages: - Unstable quality: out of three (!!!) lens instances, only one worked fine.
- For that kind of money, you can put a tripod ring in the kit. Instead, the manufacturer sells this ring for crazy money separately.
In the end, all the same, everyone who needs this little ring is bought by inexpensive Chinese counterparts.
Comment: The lens is certainly beautiful, but the quality variation is great. I chose from three copies of the lens. One gum was covered with white bloom and the lens looked very bad: you don’t expect such a thing from a thing that costs more than fifty thousand rubles! The second copy confirmed the focus without focusing. The third option fortunately turned out to be normal.
In my opinion, the situation is unacceptable for such an expensive thing.
Analog from canon is cheaper, but has a not so pleasant bokeh.

Advantages: sharp throughout the entire zoom range, starting at f / 4 in full frame across the entire field of the frame (Use on Nikon D700)
-chain fast silent autofocus
- internal zoom and focus
- HAA are minimal
- quite decent bokeh
- small weight, compact, reliable construct despite plastic
-excellent stabilizer, at 1/25, 1/30 exposures can be removed without smearing hands 200mm
- small vignetting on F / 4, for portraits it is even a plus
-coat included
Disadvantages: - the price in my opinion is too high
-the lack of a tripod foot in the kit, although the lens is not heavy and you can do without it.
- small distortions, but this is easily treated in Lightroom with the help of a native lens profile
- there is a cover in the kit, but for this money you could put something more decently
Comment: I chose the store considering that the lens could be tested. The first copy suited me completely. So I recommend to check the optics before buying on your carcass, so that you will not be disappointed in the future. Quality lenses from any manufacturer can float.

Advantages: AF-S NIKKOR 70–200mm f / 4G ED VR. became the first lens in which the new Nikon vibration reduction system is applied, which allows you to extend shutter speed up to 5 steps.
Compact dimensions and low lens weight are an advantage over similar models.
Silent ultrasonic motor (SWM) ensures quiet and accurate autofocus operation.
The zoom ring rotates smoothly and the lens does not increase in length when zooming.
Lenses with a nanocrystalline coating that significantly reduces glare.
Disadvantages: The lack of a kit leg. However, due to the relatively small weight of the lens, the tripod can be attached directly to the camera.
Comment: I replaced my AF-S NIKKOR 70–200mm f / 2.8G ED VR. this, which allowed us to obtain higher quality images with a significantly lower lens weight.
70–200mm f / 4G outperforms the former objects:
image sharpness;
quicker on sharpness;
stabilizer works better;
almost 2 times easier.
I use about six months, very satisfied. I consider it a very suitable lens for shooting nature, traveling, reporting and sporting events.
Showed excellent results both on full-format and on the crooked .. camera.

Advantages: 1) Small weight and size;
2) Very, very good stabilizer;
3) Fine image;
Disadvantages: 1) The price is however too big;
2) There is no fixing platform included;
3) And the case is good for the price the same is not enough;
Comment: The impression of the lens is the most and the most beautiful. The weight and dimensions are impressive, not such a "fool" as 70-200 / 2.8, it does not fit into ordinary bags, of course, but almost. But in contrast to 70-200 / 2.8, the stabilizer is simply beautiful, while sitting I managed to stably shoot at a shutter speed of 1/40, with a focal length of 200! In this regard, the mounting platform is obtained especially and is not needed, the lens is light enough to weigh on the camera, and not vice versa.
The picture quality is excellent on the D800 and the D7000, no matter what anyone says, and at the expense of quality across the field of the frame, the question seems bloated, it is very good even on the D800, for the D700 it will be perfect.
But a good case would not hurt, well, the price is the same so-so ...

Advantages: 1. Sharpness.
2. Weight.
3. Constant size when changing focal lengths.
4. Stabilizer.
Disadvantages: 1. Price.
2. Plastic case.
Comment: The lens is very convenient to use, nothing slides out, no backlash, focus rings and focal changes rotate smoothly and adequately, relatively light. Significantly sharper in comparison with the Nikon 70-300 or 28-300, which is very pleased. The stabilizer is great. Of course, the plastic construction is embarrassing (especially for such a price), but this does not affect the quality of the photos or the usability.

Advantages: The new lens, which is made on the most modern optical technology. It has f / 4 aperture across the entire range. Compared with the older brother, 70-200 f / 2.8, the VR II loses in luminosity, but it has relatively low weight, and is therefore ideal for the quality photographer-traveler.

I was struck by the MTF graphics, which promise almost perfect quality for crop cameras. The sharpness and minimum of chromatic aberrations will be throughout the frame - the graphics are almost flat! especially on the body.
Disadvantages: But I would not take it to a full-format camera - there will be confusion and vacillation around the edges. And such a drop in quality that will have to cut the frame.
Comment: Amazing model. As far as the lens is ideal on a crop camera, it is just as useless on a full-size matrix. Therefore, the Internet will be observed completely different comments from the owners of different cameras.

Nikon's policy is discouraging. If this model were positioned as DX - it would not have the price. And in the FX segment it is better to add money and buy 70-200 f2 / 8 VR, at least
