Reviews of Philips 55PFS8109

Evaluation 4
Advantages: The TV itself is thin, but there is a crawled part at the bottom. There are three options for the front frame - metal, white and black, as well as two versions of the legs - on the sides and the stand in the middle (models 8109, 8159 and 8209 differ only in this). Downloading is the scourge of many smart TVs - fast enough, and it starts to load when plugged in. After 20 seconds a red light appears - and it is ready to be turned on. Samsung smart TV, for example, turns on faster, but then for some time it slows down the menu until it progrupts. If the network is not disconnected, then subsequent times turns on very quickly. Behind two speakers and one in the middle, it looks like a small sub, the sound is bearable, even there are its settings.
Disadvantages: The menu is the usual hierarchical, convenient, it leaves with animation, goes from left to right, on the left all submenus are added, where you went. For digital channels there is a picture-in-picture function (i.e. there are 2 tuners in it). But, you cannot replace the image from the 2nd tuner with YouTube. There is a camera that leaves the bottom when you turn on Skype or control gestures. Push back with your hand. Gesture control sucks, play a few times and score. A lot of inputs and outputs, while the TV set determines what is connected to it and in the source selection menu replaces the input image with, for example, a picture of an audio system or player / set-top box, which subsequently makes it easier to choose and does not force all 4 hdmi inputs to search for ( There is a menu for selecting a source, and not iterating over them in order). There are also two full CI + inputs for satellite channel cards, but, according to forum messages, when you turn on NVT + and Tricolor, it can be buggy at the same time.
Remote from a convenient plastic soft-touch. Many "quick" buttons to adjust the backlight, 3D, screen format, etc. The player control keys. On the back of the remote is a keyboard for smart TV. In the remote position sensor, the back part is always not working. Therein lies the drawback - when you lie on the couch, it turns out that you don’t always keep the remote control horizontal and the keyboard doesn’t work.
Comment: Ambilight
The backlight works fine, again - there are about 10 modes of its operation plus additional settings - all the same color, brightness, and so on. There is a dynamic mode, when the backlight often changes colors and brightness by sector, there is a more calm and smooth. It can work in a static mode and produce any color selected through the application for the phone, including in the off state. The backlight is declared as 4-sided, however you will not find lamps around the perimeter behind them, they have a strange configuration - one row at the top plus in the right and left upper corners stand in a group of several diodes. As a result, it all works (whether the top row shines up and down, or a group of corner diodes work in different directions), and did not understand, but the result is really a comprehensive backlight. The only thing is that it works not quite according to the principle of top, bottom, left, right, and rather - top, top right / left, bottom right / left + bottom, so it seemed to me, maybe, the TV is not able to shine down only, along with the bottom are highlighted and right / left corners, even if everything is dark on the screen, and the white object is from the bottom in the middle. Since there are many diodes and they overlap each other, you can hang them on the wall through thick enough fasteners (you do not need to take the recommended thin one, which costs about 15 tr.), While there will be no annoying shadows, but you need to move the TV away from the wall for greater illumination.
Android works in 720p, also in android applications, when you click on any input line for some reason, the notification panel for 3 seconds pops out for 3 seconds, while you cannot print on the keyboard that appears. Why such a curvature is made - it is not clear. It is necessary EVERY TIME to wait for these same three seconds while the panel leaves to start typing, which is annoying. Well, either use the keyboard on the back of the remote (no need to wait with it), but in the dark it is not very convenient.

Advantages: Ambilight, android, backlight
Disadvantages: Flaws in the software, but the developer eliminates them, buying TV should not be lazy and download the update and everything will be ok
Comment: Like all Philips TVs, this model pleases with a very clear picture, were delighted with the backlight function, it is convenient to watch TV without additional lighting. The software slows down a bit, but since updates are constantly coming out for it, this is not a problem. Large diagonal, suitable rather for large rooms.

Advantages: Good black color, picture as a whole, aluminum body, remote control, 4-way ambilight
Disadvantages: If you do not find fault, they are not
Comment: I bought it from 2 times, the first one turned out to be 4 black pixels. I liked the remote, unlike the Koreans, he is one and carries the same functionality. They write that a bad sound, for me it is on the top five for TV. The menu works quickly, does not hang.

Advantages: Great Philps-ovsky picture, amazing contrast, great black. Dynamic scenes telly fulfills 5+. HD broadcast is fascinating, especially if filmed in the original under HD. Ambilight is a thing. exceptional viewing experience in the dark!
Connects to android devices with a bang!
Disadvantages: Rawish software, but the manufacturer constantly "finishes" and updates, eliminating bugs, for which he thanks!
Comment: The picture quality is probably the best TV set on the market. Koreans - rest. 4k of course compete on equal terms, but there are no sources for 4k yet, and the price for them is premium.

Advantages: Excellent image, build quality, connectors are located on the sidewall, which allows you to hang close to the wall, android + 4x core processor. The speed of work pleases, reads many video formats, sees NTFS. Through the optics on the receiver is a full-fledged Dolby digital 5.1.
Disadvantages: Raw Android) all the same, it is not up to sawing to mind ... But this is a matter of time, support promptly releases updates, for which a special thank you to them. The sound is certainly not very much for 2.1 systems, but for a TV with a thickness of less than 1 cm, I think there is no need to demand more
Comment: If you do not chase 4K, then the telly is excellent for this price. 4K needs to be considered at least 65 "is the time, and the lack of content is -2! So consider whether you need to overpay for this trend feature now!

Advantages: - Awesome picture and freaky Ambilight!
- Many settings and proprietary video signal processing algorithms, workmanship and design, operational support from the manufacturer.
- Perhaps the best 3D-mode of all the TV in this price range!
- Android!
Disadvantages: - Some flaws in the software part.
- Due to the 4-sided Ambilight TV can not be hung close to the wall.
- Disgusting sound if you do not use external speakers.
- Uneven illumination of the screen in dark scenes
Comment: There were problems in 3D mode, phoned Phillips and a week later a new firmware was released, where everything is fixed, cool! Suddenly I discovered that you can turn on embilayt as a backlight without switching on the TV, for sex just right;) Decent machine, but the price is too high.
