Sony Alpha SLT-A65 Kit Reviews

Evaluation 5
Advantages: + An ideal camera for beginners + Fast autofocus + Live photos (subjectively: without any improvements, a little cold, plus a good idea to add a little saturation) + Good build + Rate of fire + Excellent video
Disadvantages: -Not enough buttons for quick access to camera functions-There is not enough aperture when shooting indoors with a whale 18135, the photo is not so detailed and bright -Auto focus happens to be missed in a darkened room Lens as a vacuum cleaner collects dust + Disadvantages are not significant, I think that the rest of the cameras are about the same.
Comment: Bought the first SLR camera. They chose Sony, because we needed him to take good photos and videos. They chose between Sony a65 and a58, judging by the reviews, the difference between them is not great. Sony a65 of the buns has video quality and viewfinder. But we thought to save and take a58. When both cameras were compared in a store, they saw that the a65 viewfinder is fundamentally better, the world through it looks brighter and more interesting. Plus, the manufacturer made the LCD monitor better in a65 and the captured photo looks bright and alive. As a result, they acquired a65 with a whale 18135, becausethe portrait photo was more interesting, approximately at a distance of 70-85, which did not allow the 1855 lens to carry out. With a flash card, they “flew” a little, purchased an SD Sony, a good read speed of 40 mb and a write speed of only 10. When shooting in RAW or JPEG + RAW, the recording speed is clearly not enough and the camera slows down. It is necessary to acquire apparently a card with a write speed of 40 mbs. The photo on the monitor of the camera looks better, but on a regular computer monitor you can see that the pictures are different. Some lack brightness, others saturation, heat, etc. Therefore, the finalization of the photo in the lightroom was simply necessary. Very satisfied with the purchase, the quality of photos and videos is alive.

Advantages: After the ultrazoom, this device is very good :) Details in the comments.
Disadvantages: In the comments.
Comment: So. Almost a year used and learned to take a picture on the Sony DSC-HX200. By the end very good photos for a soap tray already began to turn out.
Hands stuffed, fotik stopped for me to take a picture.
It was decided to buy a DSLR.
Like many, choosing between Canon and Nikon. At the time of the first purchase chose Nikon D3200. By fotkal week. Photos are not very liked. Noises even on small ISO.
I decided to change this device to the usual Sony. I had to add 7.5 thousand to change my camera.
Well, I bought it, charged it, and began to take a picture, first by car, then slowly in 1 evening I switched to manual mode.
Photos really like.
----------------------------
Of the minuses: with a flash, the maximum shutter speed is only 1/160. Sometimes it may not be enough.
Flash charging speed is not very high, it could be done more brightly.
The write speed to the memory card with the RAW + JPEG shooting mode is not very high. After making 3 photos in a row, you need to wait 5-7 seconds for all files to be recorded.
If you just shoot in JPEG, then you hardly have to wait. While taking a new photo, the old has already been recorded.
---------------------------
It remains to buy him a high-aperture lens, external puff, and you can do quite professional-quality photos.
---------------------------
At the moment I use the built-in flash. To him also attached a reflector, which so far saves.

Advantages: rate of fire, really nothing escapes, just a machine gun
Disadvantages: 1. The luminosity due to the translucent mirror is small, in the dark, sometimes it is simply not able to focus if the subject is dark.
2. For those who need to quickly change all the settings - not very good. comfortable, not enough buttons to control all the parameters
Comment: Great video with a very fast autofocus, the number of megapixels does matter, here is an example: http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/ivan-zhidenko/view/909018/?page=2
And although it is written that the capacity is battery. 500 photos, but apparently this is when everything is with a flash, because I did both 1800 at a time and would have done more, but the map was clogged.

Evaluation 5
Advantages: Excellent device, convenient screen, perfect control. Price list.
Disadvantages: autofocus noise when shooting video - I had to buy an external microphone.
Comment: The smart device for the fan. Video filming with a standard lens on top. Out of the bus dropped on asphalt from a height of about 1.70. Not a single scratch, the lens saved the filter, the filter itself is in smithereens. Further operation of the device did not reveal any deviations in the work after a strong impact. Hesitated for a long time when buying (before this was the alpha 230), I watched another 650D. Definitely more pleasant body and durovian matrix - if you are not a pro, then definitely 65 is your choice.

Advantages: 1) crop 1.5 (for Canon - 1.6); 24MP matrix resolution + low noise level = high detail and the possibility of digital cropping (cropping = scaling) without degrading quality.There is a huge stock for printing, and especially for a computer screen or TV.
2) high accuracy in determining exposure and white balance;
3) a high rate of fire of 10 frames / s and a very fast turning on of the camera (braking corrected by firmware) and instant shutter release (twice as good as competitors).
4) excellent focusing speed as a photo, and video (also out of competition).
5) built-in image stabilizer in the body (no competitors have), a “screwdriver” for lenses without a built-in motor, and a fairly powerful flash.
6) excellent always working Lifeview mode without brakes (Sony chip).
7) swivel display (not on Nikon).
8) a super-high-definition electronic superfinder, in which you can always see what should happen + electronic magnifying glass + highlighting of the image contours in the area of sharpness SUPER !!! (the color of the contours is determined by the photographer) - all this helps to focus correctly and determine the depth of field in any shooting conditions (the competitors have excellent HVI, but they are not informative and under conditions of insufficient illumination the visibility is poor, the depth of field is very difficult to control).
9) the built-in electronic level (gyroscope) helps to control the horizontal position of the camera and its inclination (no competitors have).
10) high-quality large and lightweight body with a more comfortable grip than the competition (subjectively).
11) a large shutter resource (up to 150 thousand actuations) and noiseless operation (Sony does not have a slamming mirror).
12) Sony and Minolta high quality native lenses (Sony + CarlZeiss is super quality).
13) price is also not the last factor (1.5 times lower than competitors);
14) perfectly glues panoramas;
15) perfectly fit lenses from Zenith through the adapter;
16) convenient menu, remembers the last position.
Disadvantages: 1) there is no autofocus illumination, as many other cameras have. (flash illumination is nonsense) - a serious flaw;
The rest as someone, but I think not significant:
2) Not dustproof, waterproof housing;
3) There are not enough programmable buttons (I really want at least 2-3 more pieces) and the second wheel of settings;
4) plastic shoe for external flash;
5) bad noise, there is no complete shutdown of it;
6) not enough focus points;
7) tracking autofocus is poorly implemented;
8) no iso 50;
9) no shutter speed 1/8000;
10) shortest shutter speed with 1/160 flash;
11) there is no original external battery compartment with controls;
12) relatively short series of images at high rate of fire.
Comment: For beginners and lovers, this is not a camera, but a dream. Choose between Canon D60 and Nikon D7000. Sony A65 almost in all respects beats the competitors I selected.
Now a direct competitor - Nikon D5200. This is a great camera.
But the advantages of Sony Alpha 65 in the rate of fire, the illumination of the contours in the area of sharpness, in the stabilizer embedded in the carcass, a greater resource of the shutter, the electronic level in the viewfinder, the electronic magnifier, screwdriver make Sony a winner.
If you remove the flaws, you get Sony Alpha 77 (almost perfect today camera from KROP).

Advantages: High resolution matrices. High quality images. High-quality video. Great viewfinder. Good functionality. High speed shooting.
Disadvantages: High resolution matrix. Quite frequent autofocus misses on the open diaphragm. A small number of focus points. The lack of autofocus adjustment for a specific lens.
Comment: Good camera. After Minolta D7D, she seems a little toy. But the build quality and materials are good. High resolution matrix has both pros and cons. On the one hand, you can get very high detail images, get more freedom when cropping. But this is all with good optics and good shooting conditions. Due to the higher pixel density, the camera is somewhat noisier than the younger model, but if you bring the pictures to the same resolution, then there will be no difference.All this gives a little more freedom for creativity. I think the electronic viewfinder is a huge plus for the camera. 100% frame coverage plus see the picture as it will be in the picture. You can display a large amount of auxiliary information, there is an electronic level. There is a small lag in poor lighting, but still the advantages overlap the disadvantages. A little annoying is the fact that, compared to the A77, the 65th has no autofocus adjustment, which eliminates the possibility of using lenses with front and back focus. The number of autofocus points is significantly less than that of the 77th, so that misses often occur. Video quality is very good, although if you shoot immediately with compression in mp4, then artifacts are visible. It is better to shoot in AVCHD and process it in a separate program. Focusing while shooting works very well, but using it requires a silent lens, since the sound of the motor and especially the “screwdriver” is very loud.

Advantages: All that is in this camera is low-noise matrix, quiet operation, high ISO, rate of fire, menu convenience, COLOR! - advantages
Disadvantages: I can not find, detect
Comment: The 13th month I shoot this camera A65. I can not find an impossible task for her. No, of course, tasks must be set wisely too. Without a flash at night, she will not shoot well with it. I read a lot of criticism at the Sony Club about this camera in comparison with its older sister A77, and yet I see no reason to be dissatisfied with it. Some people write about the downed autofocus - is that - so I was lucky? I get into focus, as a rule, on the first attempt. Or do gentlemen perfectionists want for a fairly modest price to have an apparatus that is impossible to find fault with? Yes, the camera has a plastic case, not a metal one, like the A77 and other professional cameras, well, let's try not to drop it on the asphalt and stone floor; the camera does not oppose the pouring rain and drowning, like the A77, but on the case for it there is this protection. Yes, with the promised GPS in Russian shipments, the navigator is disabled by software. The video shoots amazingly with servo autofocus. I've been in love with her for more than a year now, like a boy. Recently put the lens Sony 16-105 / 3,5-5,6 - a hurricane! Recently bought a Sony SLT-A77 - this is something! But the main thing that he wrote remains! Cool camera! But the A77 is even cooler.

Advantages: many useful features, a convenient algorithm, excellent shots with excellent color reproduction, the ability to use old optics, a wide range of exposures, good grip.
Disadvantages: Whale 18-55 NO! 16-105 BETTER, class Jupiter37A! Noises above 1600, mediocre user manual, small diopter, not to find an external mic. On sale, optics are more expensive and small choice.
Comment: He started with Smena, Sharp-sighted, Fed, Zenith 3pcs., Sony H2, Nikon D50, Sony A33-2goda, it was thought to change the system to learn in comparison. I tested the Canon 650 and Nikon D90 - I liked the latter more by its natural color, but conclude that they are not looking for good from the good. I took the A65 with no regrets, now in search of decent optics.

Evaluation 5
Advantages: 1. Conveniently in the hand lies (for my hand the most comfortable grip).
2. The quality of the photo is not inferior to the senior amateur apparatuses of Nikon and Canon (600 D, 5100).
3. According to chromaticity, for my perception, much more natural, bright and warm colors compared to Canon and Nikon.
4. Video on the head is higher compared to the Canon and Nikon of the same level.
5. Permanent autofocus in video is VERY CONVENIENT.
6. Phase autofocus in LV. There is no difference (in speed) to shoot through the viewfinder or to sight on the screen.
7. The speed of the camera as a whole is simply stupid.
8. Panorama modes are very high quality.
Disadvantages: 1. The electronic viewfinder is weak in the dark.
2. There is a lack of a full-fledged sound of the "CLICK" shutter. He is electronically controlled here.
3. Replaceable optics are more expensive than competitors.

More has not yet revealed, maybe with time ...
Comment: Shot while only whale 18-55. I took a set of 18-55 / 55-200 for 36 kilorubles - the only thing that was available in the city for reasonable money. Delivered courier to friends. They have Canon 550D. Immediately zateteli high ISO, general images and video. Nowhere is Sonya losing. When I chose her, the tests for ISO above 800 were frightening. In reality, I found NO DIFFERENCE with 550D, except that Sony has a better color on whale in all modes, including 1600-3200, which are brighter and fuller than Canon.

Taking into account the price of 30 kilorubles for a whale of 18-55 (Canon 600D - 26, Nikon 5100 - 28 kilorubles for the same whales) justifies the money invested. The only development park optics slightly more expensive than the competition.

I took Sony 50 / 1.4 bu - these glasses CAN resolve such a matrix !!! There was a second wave of desire to not let the camera out of hand, and shoot everything. Kit is no longer wearing.

It is better to take bodykit and tamron 17-50 or 28-75 /2.8 - for universal filming and some kind of fix 35 or 50 1.4. Then 24 MP is felt, colors and volume appear in the picture.

Advantages: - Matrix 24MP: excellent picture even on the whale glass; when scaling to the same size with a 16mp matrix, the advantages of the 24mp matrix can be seen with the naked eye
- Continuous Phase AF in video mode
- The same shooting speed when sighting through the VI and LiveView
- High-quality electronic OLED viewfinder
- Awesome rate of fire up to 10 fps.
- The presence of a "screwdriver" drive (at the moment in the entire SLT range!) And therefore the ability to fully use Minolta AF lenses since 1985. Great advantage!
- SteadyShot Stabilizer
- Foldable display with two degrees of freedom and very high quality color reproduction. Ideal for photomacro and photo / video shooting with arms extended upwards. For example, from the crowd at a concert
- Ability to quickly and easily embellish pictures using DRO and Auto HDR options
- The “twilight with hands” scene mode allows you to take high-quality images of static objects in the evening and at night, even without a tripod at high ISO (6400).
- Intra chamber panorama function (normal and 3D)
- Record FullHD AVCHD 2.0 video with stereo sound at least no worse than a mid-level video camera
- Auto and Auto + modes for beginners give excellent results with a one-click shooting. No need to be a photographer to take good pictures with this camera
- Electronic level
- Simultaneous saving in RAW and JPEG
- Let the plastic but very high quality housing, good finish
- Compactness, relative lightness. Comfortable grip for __ small palms, and, it seems to me, ideal for girls
Disadvantages: - Minoltovsky shoe for flash and related inconveniences
- Marketing restrictions in the minimum shutter speed of 1/4000 and fixed ISO values in the manual
- Significant noise is already at medium ISO, and the result at ISO 1600 without additional post-processing is often unsatisfactory, a lot of noise.
- Weak ability to reassign button functions
- Some functions do not work in shooting modes with preservation of RAW, RAW + JPEG, you have to go into the menu and switch back and forth between regular JPG and RAW
- Lack of AF adjustment
- The tracking autofocus mode is very weak, in real conditions, it seems inefficient
- Low coefficient of real resolution in video mode
- Poor quality of whale glass (being new, I already had problems with contact - "camera error")
- High prices and low range of branded optics, especially in Ukraine
- Sony branded accessories are very expensive
Comment: I chose this camera, the first DSLR due to the general advantages of the SLT technology: constant phase AF in video mode, increased rate of fire, simplified camera design due to the lack of slamming mechanics (in theory a longer service life), EVI (although for some it is a disadvantage) , using VI and LiveView is the same in speed.

As for the noise of 24MP matrix, here, too, everything is somewhat exaggerated.Yes, there are noises and a lot of them at high ISO. Yes, the noise level kills the detail of the 24mp matrix. Who says that you need to take a picture only at dusk? And do not need to consider 100% Crop. And on the 24MP matrix, the source can be reduced, adjusted so that in the end the result will be the same as with the 16MP matrix, or even better.

Full video shooting: stabilization in the carcass, the capabilities of a DSLR with interchangeable optics, control of the depth of field as well as individual lens designs raise the quality bar much higher than the average video camera.

I read a lot of negativity about the front and especially bekfokusa. With my copy I was lucky.

This camera will be ideal for beginners "as is" even with whale optics. But when you want a better glass, be prepared for the fact that Sony optics are expensive, and its choice is less than that of competitors and local sellers still overcharge it. In addition, judging by the reviews and tests, the high cost does not mean quality .. Therefore, to save newcomers I would recommend simpler models if they are much cheaper in your region - A57 or A37 that was cut down. A65 is a model for more demanding novice photographers who do not mind overpaying for 24MP matrix and high-quality OLED-EVI and a good LCD display.

I highly recommend buying the old Minolta optics. For the same money that you buy only weak Sony lenses from a budget, you can get Minolta glass windows that are still in good condition. Among them are real masterpieces.
Accessories cheaper you can take third-party manufacturers - China, Hong Kong
