It is difficult to say which software chips Sonevsky and which Android, but their little things are still dark: smart reminders, clever charging, front-flash, discharge forecast messages.

Disadvantages: Traditionally, the compact series is felt heavy machine. Nuclear price tag. Memory and batteries do not happen much, but they have, I believe, both of them. If you forget about the price tag, report the memory card and put up with the battery, which even allows you to skip the charge at night, and do not worry about it the next day, then I personally have nothing to complain about.

For the sake of justice I will join other consumers about the screen bent around the edges and the lack of headphones in the kit. In the past, the device allowed a flat screen to stick the glass on 100% of the area, which is safe and beautiful. And I still love, appreciate and periodically use the complete headphones from the Z1 Compact.

Comment: I walked with Z1 Compact for 4 years, for all the time, only the battery changed after 3 years. I am 100% satisfied, I would go further, but after the XZ2 line was released, it became clear that the following devices would have an indecently high resolution (hi battery), without a headphone jack, plus this scanner on the back panel due to which the case would have a hole . About himself XZ2 generally keep silent. I decided it was not too late to take the XZ1 Compact.

Happy as an elephant. It seems that the old man was quite moving, but the new device is bulleting like a cannon.In the hand is comfortable, the technology is full of stuffing, there are no questions to the appearance, on the example of the previous phone, the expectations for service life are the highest. There is no alternative to a cool device at the junction of power, reliability and compactness.

Not to say that this is a mast of keV, yet the flomaster is different in taste and color: someone interferes with the framework, someone wants the screen more, someone presses the price tag or does not like the Android, but the device is definitely worthy. Its own niche - its deserved crown.

Advantages: I will highlight only what really distinguishes this smartphone from the rest, besides being compact with top-end stuffing.
1) The fingerprint scanner, built into the side power button, is super-convenient. As for the phone do not take it, with any grip, you can unlock the device.
2) Good autonomy. With moderate use, the battery lasts two days.
3) The side shutter button, through which it is much easier and faster to take pictures.

Disadvantages: Internal memory is not enough.

Comment: Looking for a replacement for the old man Z2, choosing between compact versions XZ1 and XZ2. Won side scanner.

Advantages: + Compact case with a truly flagship filling (Snapdragon 835 and 4 GB of RAM). In its class, competitors simply do not exist.
+ Traditional separate camera button on the side - thanks, Sony!
+ Wonderful camera.
+ Elegant sound speakers in stereo mode.
+ It is extremely pleasant to hold it in your hands - no glass on the back panel, in combination with a compact body, the phone can not be dropped by accident!
+ Commendable autonomy - a phone with high loads (gps. 4g, web surfing, sometimes heavy games) will live to the end of the day.
+ It pleases both the Type-C connector and the 3.5 mm headphone input (Hi HTC and Xiaomi)
+ I didn’t expect it, but I’m absolutely delighted with the fingerprint scanner! Surprisingly comfortable and very quickly get used to.
+ Corporate design - yes, for an amateur, but still original and stand out from the competition.

Disadvantages: - A little confused by the strong heating of the device under heavy loads - not critical, but still there.
- Oddly enough, the quality of music in the headphones did not suit a bit (all the settings were shuffled).
- Metal ends (they are the same antennas) cause inconvenience when talking.
- Super slow motion video works great, but for a nice picture without “noise” you need a lot of light!
- I would put up with such a small screen in such a long case, but the control buttons (back, home and list of applications) in the screen itself, and not separately, which spoils the impression.
“Maybe I’m picking on it, but it was worth putting something besides charging into the flagship, albeit compact ... At least the same headset or case ...

Comment: I come back to Sony after several experiments, and so far I am completely satisfied with it. Not to say that I am delighted with this expensive device, but I still don’t think to look for a replacement, and there are simply no alternatives to it. Many people complain about the HD screen instead of FullHD, but in reality these are empty quibbles - everything is perfectly and clearly visible on this screen, plus, due to the extra pixels, you would have to sacrifice significantly autonomy. Those who want a compact device that can be safely used in one hand, and even with a rabid filling, a good camera and good sound in the seasoning with a great brand - definitely take it!

Advantages: Perfect size. Taking advantage of, no inconvenience arises, which is very pleasing.
The fingerprint scanner is built into the power button, I find a very convenient solution.
The camera shoots 4k, full hd, hd (for hd, you can set 120 frames per second for all videos and then slow down as you like; or you can make super slow 3 seconds - 960 frames per second, it looks bombarded, but you need good lighting).
Front mounted stereo speakers play even better than expected. By the way, there are also two microphones (above and below).
3.5 jack, NFC, USB type C and fast charging + moisture protection.
I believe that the diagonal 4.6 + hd resolution is 1280x720 = good autonomy (for such a diagonal full hd or 4k is meaningless (there is practically no difference) and the charge will be higher). Good Trinuminos IPS display color from Sony.
Pleasant thickness of the device, i.e. and not too fat and not thin, but right what we need.
The design is also very liked, no frills, neat and strict.

Disadvantages: It is not even a fault, but rather a personal wish.
I have enough battery power for 1.5-2 days, with the Internet constantly turned on, i.e. not complaining. But I always want more and I sincerely don’t understand why not put a more capacious battery. Perhaps the size does not allow. I'm not an expert here.
Camera noises in the dark are present and there is no getting away from them, but 19 megapixels, I do not understand this maximalism (I immediately remember the difference between sony a7s and a7r).

Comment: Android 8.0. Performance is superb, no hitches and hangs. Assembled tightly, nowhere creaks no backlash. Multi-color on-site notification indicator.
Wifi works as it should, checked on two frequencies. 4G is also a normal flight.
The screen brightness is sufficient with a large margin.
Well, that is not frameless, I like it more.
In general, a wonderful smartphone. Very pleased with the acquisition.

Advantages: It does not slow down, a good camera, a sturdy case (already dropped a couple of times - without consequences). It is convenient (in my opinion) that the fingerprint is read from the power button of the screen - just press the button with the right finger and the screen is already unlocked.

Disadvantages: Enough somewhere for a day and a half of use. Since it can not be charged in the middle of the day, you have to charge almost every day.
For some reason, the Wi-Fi at home does not work well (it periodically stops downloading), although on other devices everything is fine.

Comment: I use about three weeks. Moved from Sony Xperia Z1. Overall, satisfied. All the same, only more convenient and faster + new features (like the already mentioned fingerprint scanner)

Advantages: - Compact
- Fast
- Good sound
- Bright screen, color reproduction and picture quality are no complaints
- Keeps charge well *
- High-quality video shooting
- Convenient button layout, including a power button with a fingerprint scanner
- The phone is almost not littered with unnecessary software and rarely bothers with notifications from pre-installed progs (compare with your previous Sony Z3 Compact - heaven and earth!)
- Design (this is of course pure flavors, but it is this design that seems stylish and beautiful to me - a strict rectangle. I don’t like rounded corners, and too thin smartphones seem uncomfortable to use, like frameless ones).

Disadvantages: - The poor quality of photos taken in low light in auto mode ** (for more details see comments)
- Connector for charging USB Type C. This is certainly not a disadvantage, for sure the future behind this connector. You just need to be mentally prepared, that for charging your phone, everything from other non-iPhones and cameras will no longer fit. But the symmetric connector is very convenient.

Comment: * About the battery. I use the gadget freely all day and charge it only once a day, while at the end of the day the phone is not completely dead, leaving at least 15-20% of the charge. True, I almost do not play it in games, except in simple puzzles. But quite a lot of time I spend on watching movies, videos from YouTube, the Internet. In the previous Sony Z3 Compact, I often turned off Wi-Fi and geolocation in order to save power. On this phone, there has never been a need to disable some functions in order to extend the life of the battery.
** The camera. At first she disappointed me. I took some pictures in auto mode at a concert (low light), and I was horrified - everything was blurred, the detail was bad, not just noises, but some terrible artifacts climb. But then I read the advice to photograph in manual mode - and yes, it worked! In the mode of M in the dark, the pictures are many times better, clearer and better.And with good lighting and auto-mode copes. So not everything turned out so terribly.
P. S. Funny detail: for some reason, many friends believe that the back cover of my phone is made of metal. Even when I say no, comrades, this is just plastic, I hear in response that plastic cannot look like this, I probably confuse something. "You were deceived. You were given a much better fur"))) Apparently, this is an invoice + blue body color give such a combo.

Advantages: 1) The screen is bright, saturated
2) Camera - great shots and videos. True, until I tried to shoot at night
3) Performance - everything is installed and opened instantly - the top processor is felt
4) Battery. While with quite active use, it holds more than 2 days
5) Design. This is subjective. Just like these bricks)
6) Ergonomics. Very conveniently located fingerprint scanner on the side, the phone is taken on his hands and instantly unlocked.

Disadvantages: Price. Expensive, of course ...
And there are several blots that can hardly be attributed to serious shortcomings:
1) The advertised 3D constructor does not work very clearly and only with very good lighting. But this is essentially a toy for a few days, so it’s not so important.
2) I was surprised when in the default settings when installing wallpaper I did not find the option of live wallpaper in the form of a slideshow of selected photos. Perhaps this is a cant not a phone, but an unfinished shell for a new 8th android. I had to download a third-party application to install live wallpaper to solve the problem.
3) Sony was greedy and on the Compact put 32 GB of internal memory, they could have done 64, like the "big brother". But I think there will be enough memory anyway.

Comment: Overall, a great model. For shovel-haters - the most it. Flagship iron, will last for several years. Considering that top phones with screens smaller than 5 inches are now only made by Sony, they now occupy a good niche in the market.

Disadvantages: - Nowhere to attach the necklace;
- Inconvenient (strange) SIM-card slot;
- Excess software.

Comment: First of all, the power button with the finger scanner is very convenient. Then, something has changed in the conservatory and now it is not necessary to limit the device to GSM networks and turn off Wi-Fi to save the charge. And now it is in the fashion to cut out all the indications: from the laptops the hard drive operation indicator and other useful light bulbs have been torn out. But in this device the status indicator (as usual Sony has a multi-color one) is and therefore, for example, you should not touch the phone to check the charge. The buttons are extremely convenient - no false positives. Yes, you will have to get used to the power button, but it is done correctly, and therefore is not accidentally pressed. I can confuse the size of the volume rocker, but everything is convenient.
Cherry on the cake - the speed of work.

I would like to draw attention to the fact that in this unit there is no FM-receiver. Well, wireless charging is not and never will.

About choosing: at first I thought about taking the S8, but holding it in my hands, I realized that I would break it very quickly and I needed a glass device on one side only.
