TEAC UD-501 Reviews

Evaluation 5
Comment: The device works fine, is in listening mode. The sound is smooth, rich, moderately detailed, worth the money. While it was not possible to assess the quality of sound on the files DSD.

Comment: Appearance and workmanship as expected - good. It’s too early to talk about the sound, I’m waiting for the completion of the "warm up" So far - the detail, as expected, the dynamics is not enough. In general, the impressions are positive.

Comment: I chose the TEAC UD-501, because is the most affordable with requirements for a future DAC (192 kHz, coax + opt + usb, switchable upsampling, internal power supply ...).
In short:
Improved - everything. Delivered in front of Denon pma-520 + Ma Bx5. This pair is considered by many "low-bass" (because they bought). For me, there was even a lot of bass, I listen only in Direct mode (amplifier). From the test disk you can now hear all 20 Hz - 20 kHz.
And the most beloved (appropriate in this case) phrase in the reviews - "We now have to listen to the entire collection."

Comment: The DAC is connected to the computer via USB. Since my acoustics are weak, I listen to music through Sennhaiser 650 headphones. I like the sound.
So I'm happy with the purchase.

Comment: I read reviews about the fact that the UD-501 poorly builds the scene and that something is bad in lower case ...
Probably people who write are testing DACs, measuring their capabilities, etc., with a lot of experience, I’m an ordinary lover of listening to music - I am very pleased with the purchase: Great design, everything was done very soundly, it’s pleasant to touch the pens =) Just put in the usb and select this DAC ALL in the settings !!! He builds the scene beautifully, does not contribute anything and does not embellish, is now connected by wires rca kimber timble to parasound, acoustics B & W, I want to try to connect via xlr and listen, generally I advise you to play with the wires if something does not suit you.
Of the minuses:
1) Orange backlight (it turns off completely in the menu), but I like the frequency to be written - it reminded old siemens phones =)
2) Remote - how it is not enough to switch between inputs
3) The headphone volume control knob, I don’t understand why it is needed, because there is an amplifier in this series, and why the mediocre shove into the central unit.
But this is all nagging about the appearance, not the sound !!! With sound, everything is in order and in this price category there are simply no competitors !!!

Comment: A successful solution to the issue of integrating a personal computer into the Hi_Fi system. Of course, we are pleased with the possibility of working with DSD files, as well as the presence of balanced (symmetric) outputs. When listening to high-quality digitized music, the sound of naturalness approaches vinyl.

Comment: There is always something better, so a rating of "good." DAC suits me perfectly. For this money, somehow I do not want to look for flaws.
It’s too early to talk about sound, it's still warming, but I already like the way it sounds now. Moderately light, pleased the bass, still the scene would be a little wider ... The ear amplifier is not bad in power (for AT-A900X), but there is not enough head, dynamics, I listen through MCAudio FHA1.4. Well, okay, I took it from - for DSD, but this is already impressive.
