16 top laser levels
Repair is an occupation that, in addition to considerable patience, in many respects also requires accuracy. At least the simplest bubble level will be needed here: the work "by eye", when this eye rest from zamylivaniya, will show itself in all its unsightly "beauty." So the author is still thinking of correcting the "achievements" of Soviet home builders, but he doesn’t gather his courage. But modern laser levels are much more functional than primitive levels - they will not only catch the horizontal and vertical, but also set a complex markup, and for one installation over a large area: they can already measure "range" in tens of meters.
Moreover, the laser level has long ceased to be a lot of exclusively professionals: low-cost levels, ensuring sufficient accuracy and functionality, will not so much raise the cost of home repairs in comparison with other costs. But the quality of the work done just will not make then regret the useless labor.

Top Point Laser Levels
FLUKE 3PG
13 210
The brand itself has long been associated with accurate measurements, so I already want to trust the 3PG level, the main characteristics of which are encrypted in the name itself (3-Point Green, three-point green). Well, 6 millimeters of error at the maximum 30 meters is really quite good (0.2 mm / m), while the level has decent mechanical strength and easily survives the usual building turmoil with jolts, falls, vibrations from a powerful power tool working nearby. The self-leveling system on a mechanical hinge allows you to set the level on a plane that is deviated from ideally horizontal or vertical by plus or minus six degrees - in the first case, a floor stand or tripod is used, in the second case a wall-mounted magnetic bracket. The bright laser gives clearly visible marks when working in confined spaces and in the open air. Three emitters are installed in the case - two form the zenith / nadir marks for vertical alignment, the third serves for marking the contours. The power source - three AA batteries, which, unfortunately, will have to be bought with a margin - the “green” 3PG sucks them out for 10-12 hours of work, although the “red” 3PR will last them for 30. But, on the other hand, the model with red radiators is ineffective outdoors , so that for the universality will have to pay. Main advantages:

Popular with finishers and builders dealing with floor laying, laser level. With it, you can check the flatness of the surface, the quality of the screed and so on. The remote control that comes in the kit and the swivel base makes working with the device much more comfortable. There is also a wide rubberized sole for stability. The range of the beam - 20 meters, this is quite enough to perform the necessary functions. The price of Bosch GSL 2 Professional is quite high, but by purchasing it, you definitely will not regret. Stabila LA-5P
19 380
With the same “range” of 30 meters, the laser level of the Stabila is inferior in accuracy to the “Fluka”: 0.2 mm / m are provided only for the 90-degree marking angle, it gives out only 0.3 mm / m horizontally and the top point , and at the lowest point - altogether 0.4 mm / m. But already the mention of the number of points makes it possible to understand the peculiarity of this device - it uses five lasers, which allow you to immediately get two additional points in the horizontal plane, to the right and to the left of the “central” - so they can quickly mark not only the straight line, but pivot points for a plane on three walls, set right angles.
Another useful feature is a built-in retractable bracket for mounting on profiles, in addition to traditional magnetic brackets and a quarter-inch tripod socket. It's a pity that the range of self-leveling at plus or minus 4.5 degrees is not particularly large. We will pay tribute to the developer of the case: it is compact and durable, well tolerates shocks and falls due to the lining. Dust and moisture protection, however, is not the best (IP 54), when working on the street, it is worth considering. The power source is three AA batteries, lasts about 20 hours, which is not bad if we recall that they power five lasers. Main advantages:

The main advantage of this laser level is mobility. No, not in the sense that it is easy to carry it back and forth (although it really weighs quite a bit). DeWalt DW 083 rotates around its axis at all 180 degrees, so that you can mark even the opposite walls, without moving it from its place and not reinstalling it. In the disconnected form, the pendulum plummet is blocked and you will not damage the device during transportation. But even without this, the housing is very durable, and thanks to its wide base, the device is stable on almost any surface. Main advantages:

Top Linear Laser Levels
Stabila LA180L
125 270
This professional tool: although it projects visible lines at a distance of only 20 meters, with a receiver its “range” grows to 100 m. At the same time, the servo drive maintains a self-leveling accuracy of 0.07 mm / m.
The device projects three verticals and one horizontal, supports use as a plumb. Together with the standard receiver, it becomes a great helper on the construction site, and it is especially convenient that the receiver controls the exact settings over the radio channel - you can set the level, move to the desired distance, and the auto-calibration will occur automatically at the beginning of the laser line “catching” the receiver. Add to this the shape of the case, very convenient when installed in the corners, and we get a level that really justifies its considerable price with the possibilities and convenience. The only pity is that the battery pack for it is offered only optionally - in the “out of the box” state, the level uses batteries of size D. Main advantages:

Makita SK312GDZ
99 990
Makita Pepelas, even without installing gravitsapy, is capable of measuring accuracy of 0.1 mm / m (although only up to 20 meters) for a whole set of vertical and horizontal lines (circular horizontal, 3 verticals), all emitters except the plumb line - green, perfectly distinguishable in the room. Horizontal rotation is allowed to all 360 degrees relative to the base, so that vertical lines can be quickly transferred within full rotation. As a result, we get an accurate and functional linear level for interior work, which also works from standard "Makitov" lithium-ion batteries 10.8 V or even from USB via an adapter, although traditionally batteries and chargers are not included. But not without its drawbacks - the level of self-leveling at the level is narrow, just plus or minus 2 degrees. Because of this, the initial setup during installation may require more time, you will have to “catch” the built-in float level, and only then turn on the device. Assembly of a level - Japanese. It is possible to argue for a long time whether the Makit became worse than the British and especially the Chinese assembly, but the fact remains: the company continues to assemble professional tools of a high class precisely at home. This device was created specifically to help with tile laying. Ask any dresser - he will tell you that the laser level Bosch GTL 3 is best suited for such purposes. The laser projects rays with a 90 degree angle and a bisector between them. You will immediately see how flat your floor is and with what deviation from the vertical your walls are built on which you are going to lay tiles. The working range of the device - up to 20 meters, this is enough. The price is adequate to the quality. If you are against compromises when laying tiles - you have to take. Main advantages:

DeWALT DCE089D1G

The economical level, calculated on the use of standard DeWALT batteries at 10.8 V (which, together with the charger, are included in the set), draws two verticals (shifted by 90 degrees) and one horizontal line, all in a circle, continues our rating of the best laser levels. Without a receiver, its green laser can be used at distances of up to 35 m, the use of a receiver expands the range of use to 60 meters. The housing with radiators mounted on it can rotate on the original corner bracket, which makes installation on both horizontal and vertical planes easy.
Self-alignment is possible in the range of plus or minus 4 degrees, and there is no separate indicator of excessive deflection - the lasers themselves begin to flicker. This is quite convenient - you can set the level, immediately looking at the wall and not risking to catch the eye "direct illumination" from the laser. But his accuracy is not the best - for the horizontal in the transverse plane it is only 0.33 mm / m, and in the transverse it is 0.66 mm / m, which is why the level significantly loses to the competitors. FLUKE 180LG SYSTEM
23 050
Not the most successful model for Fluke - although even without a receiver, the level can operate at distances of up to 60 m, ensuring an accuracy of 0.3 mm / m, it gives only two lines (horizontal and vertical) with a 180-degree angle, and its control is for minimalism is not very convenient, the modes are switched by the same button that controls the power. For example, pressing once activates only a horizontal beam, twice pressing only vertical, three and four, respectively, turn on both lasers with automatic and manual alignment. When using both lasers, the battery pack is enough for no more than 6 hours - AA elements, although they provided the level with small dimensions and weight, were definitely not the best choice for autonomy. Here the self-alignment angle is not bad - 6 degrees with a roll in any direction, but this does not compensate for the inconvenience associated with the lack of a second vertical or rotary base with graduation and a micrometric screw.
Of course, the device is reliable and qualitatively assembled, but given its shortcomings, we still have to lower the rating score. Main advantages:

X-Line Helper 2D is a self-leveling device capable of projecting perpendicular planes at a distance of up to 70 meters with a special receiver. It looks like a laser cross on a wall. An intuitive control is implemented in the device: press the button and the indicator lights up next to the selected mode. Main advantages:

The best rotational laser levels
BOSCH GRL 300 HVG SET
89 250
Without a receiver, this level is able to work at distances of up to 50 meters, so that even in spacious rooms, it will be able to expand the plane. With the receiver, the “range” also grows to 150 m. The horizontal line is one, the laser is green, the accuracy is 0.1 mm / m. Not always laser levels are obtained from Bosch interesting against the background of competitors, but this model came out definitely successful.
The set, in addition to the level itself, includes a receiver, remote control, universal holder, network power supply and other "little things". Conveniently, the power supply uses nickel-metal hydride batteries, which are immediately included in the package - of course, they charge more slowly than lithium-ion batteries, but they tolerate cold well: not always similar tools are used in heated premises. However, he also eats batteries of size D. The level supports self-leveling in the range of 5 degrees in all directions - this is not a record figure, but, nevertheless, sufficient for ease of installation. In addition, vibration protection is provided, and given such a "long range" vibrations caused by the effects of vibrations are already able to give a serious error. Main advantages:

Top Combined Laser Levels
Stabila LAX 400
34 500
Our ranking of the best laser levels continues with a very interesting device that combines a rotary head for a 360-degree horizontal sweep with a prism system that gives two vertical lines at a 90-degree angle and a vertical plumb up and down. Moreover, the vertical lines can be synchronously shifted to the sides, without knocking down the plumb point, that is, in one installation you can get as many crosses on the walls as you like.Tiling walls, marking under the electrics, installation of pipes, marking and installation of parts of large furniture - in general, the applications of such a combined level many. And at the same time, note that its price for a professional is more than lifting.
Of course, the format of it is purely indoor (up to 20 meters), this is not a Bosch GRL 300 HVG. But in its radius of action the device is really very practical, and its accuracy is not bad - 0.3 mm / m with a straightness in the tolerance of 0.2 mm / m. Main advantages:

Nivelir very much simplified to us almost all the work - put in the middle of the room, and at least lay out the communications, even though the tile is luggage. |
Leica Lino L2P5
25 680
Leica and optics are ... well, let's say, like McDonald's and hamburgers: an unambiguous associative connection. Alas, the combined linear-dot laser level with a loud name looks at the level of competitors palely, which is even strange. It projects two lines - 180-degree vertical and horizontal, and the “range” even with the receiver is only 30 meters, without it it drops to 15 m. In addition to the two lines of the cross, Leica also gives us five points, which is understandable by marking (2 Lines 5 Points), however, only 4 of them are “physical”, formed by separate emitters (up-down-left-right), the fifth is the center of the cross formed by prisms. Accuracy of 0.3 mm / m is not bad, but no more than that - more was expected from “Leika”.
The level is powered by four AA batteries, and they are inconvenient to change - first, two are inserted into the depth of the compartment, then on top of them two more. It is enough for 10-12 hours, and it is not always possible to change them without knocking down the installation - the compartment is located on the bottom plane. In general, alas, the idea is pursuing that a big part of the price is formed by a big name, and not by functionality or reliability. Main advantages:

ADA instruments ULTRALiner 360 4V Set
21 990
Rotational-prism level from ADA Instruments, of course, is somewhat inferior as recognized “masters of the genre”, but for its price it provides very interesting opportunities. In addition to the horizontal plane, it allows you to display four verticals, separated by 90 degrees relative to each other. The adjustment knob at the base, having a marking with an accuracy of 1 degree, allows you to adjust the location of the verticals relative to the installation point. Without a receiver, the "range" reaches 20 meters, with a complete receiver - up to 70.
Verticals are drawn with good accuracy (0.2 mm / m), but the horizontal in comparison with them slightly pumped up (0.3 mm / m). But this is a good indicator, at least for a new level - as the bearings of the rotary head are worn, the accuracy will inevitably decrease. Here is the battery charge when turning on all four lines is not the most pleasant - in 8 hours the whole set will “go away”. Considering that the level itself is quite large, it would be worthwhile to “carve out” a place in it for something more serious than four finger-type batteries. Main advantages:

The best low-cost laser level
800
This level does not have “bells and whistles” in the form of a line switching in different planes, but it allows to get a highly accurate result. Due to the long range (30 meters), it can be used both in enclosed spaces and on construction sites. Great for example for landscape works.Powered by two "little finger" batteries, and from one set works for a long time. The device can be used with a tripod. There is a shock-resistant horizontal "eye", which increases the life of the laser. Need a reliable low-cost option primarily for residential use? Take it safely.

How to choose a good level?
Let's start traditionally with the basic design features. First of all, according to the principle of operation of the level, it is customary to divide into line builders and on plotters. The first (point levels) are able to give us, when marking out, successively two or more points on a plane, which allow us to build a straight line, the classic use for them is the derivation of horizontals and verticals. Plane builder able to give either a few lines on different walls of the room, or fully expand the cutting plane - this is convenient, for example, when installing stretch or multi-tiered ceilings. In such levels, a sweep is created either statically by a prism system (respectively, prismatic they are also called), or rotating heads (rotational levels). The prism system is good in simplicity and reliability, but is capable of projecting only a set of rays, and the accuracy of processing and adjustment of prisms seriously affects the result. The rotating head, of course, will make the level more sensitive to external influences, but it will give an opportunity to "draw" a full-fledged cutting plane. The most sophisticated prism models are capable of rendering the plane in the same way as rotational ones do - but with such levels, the “wisdom” of the optics eliminates the absence of a rotating head, forgive the involuntary pun.
Summarize: if you just need to have points to manually build a horizontal-vertical cross or draw a straight line, then the usual point level will be enough. More complex work with the orientation of the planes already require the use of a rotational or prism level. Combined models, on the other hand, either give a cross from lines with additional points to build, or combine a rotary head with prisms to build additional lines: here you can choose according to your needs. For example, when facing a wall with tiles, the presence of horizontals in a circle and several verticals is very convenient.
But in order to accurately build a line, even a plane, you need to know the direction of the true vertical. I.e the level before the start of the markup itself must be reconciled. The simplest option is a bubble level: cheap, angry, but inconvenient, especially if the level has to be tolerated often. Self-leveling mechanisms, at least based on the pendulum (their radiator is set primitively, due to gravity) is more convenient, but have a limited tilt angle of the body, in which self-installation is possible (the swing amplitude of the pendulum is limited by the design), due to friction in the mechanism may give additional error ,and for intentional installation at an angle, they need to lock the pendulum. More complex levels use a system of inclinometer sensors and servo drives, they are more accurate and have a wider range of installation angles, but, of course, more expensive.
Have a good shopping!
