Top 10 DVRs with navigator and radar detector
Even in its practical manifestations, gadzhetaniya nowhere does not harm as much as in the car: even the simplest set of DVR and radar detector, usually mistakenly called "radar detector" - this is the need for covert pulling two power wires, installing a cigarette lighter splitter. Without removing the wires, you will encounter ever interfering "snot" in the most inappropriate place, interfering with a splitter with a series of plugs sticking out of it.
Meanwhile, modern microprocessors and SOC-crystals (from the English System On Chip - chips, “sharpened” for a specific task, for example, processors with integrated multimedia decoders and DACs) have already reached the level when a small circuit is capable of handling complex tasks and large data volumes. Therefore, the idea to combine several devices in automotive electronics turned out to be just the way.
I must say that the combination of navigators with DVRs in a single device (double hybrid) has recently become quite a frequent phenomenon in the automotive market. But here the combination of three devices in one, namely: the navigator, the video recorder and the radar detector, very rarely enters the corresponding markets. The fact is that combining three devices at once into one hybrid in such a way that a gadget of gigantic size and price does not turn out is not an easy task, even for the leading manufacturers of such devices.

This is not the first attempt by Arena Pro to launch an all-in-one multi-function device. This time we were offered a fairly large (which is not surprising - it had to accommodate a 5-inch screen) rear-view mirror, in which the board is running Android. True, the interface from the proprietary shell is taken from Microsoft - although in this case the “tiles” are indeed the best solution.
So what do we have? The built-in navigator works only with GPS and can load actual traffic data via WiFi. Using Android allows the owner to replace the navigation program or install additional software if desired, but there is one “but” - it is inconvenient to use it on the high-end screen, besides combining the touch screen with a mirror will require constant wiping of fingerprints. The camera here, although it writes video in FullHD format, cannot boast of high resolution. Recording is also carried out only in AVI format. The radar detector really works, and it can “catch” the laser meter - this is very good, but the implementation of all functions as separate programs, rather than in a single envelope, will require more distraction ... And once again wipe the mirror. However, the developers didn’t stop at these functions and added the “mirror” to the principle of “walking so walking”:
As a result, you can put the device “five” for the idea, but the implementation is worthy of only the “troika” - none of the functions are implemented properly, and it is very inconvenient to use them. However, of the multifunctional DVRs with gps-navigator and radar detectors on the market, this turned out to be not only the best, but the only one worthy of recommendations — analogs, although they tempt with a low price (for example, Eplutus D68 costs a little more than 6,000) or quality for the money can not offer. The best video recorders with a radar detector

Sony matrix and glass 6-lens lens paired with an Ambarella A7 processor by modern standards of the premium segment are essentially a standard set, so there is not much to talk about the quality of the Neoline as a DVR: it is up-to-date, and the detailing of FullHD video , taken through a fairly narrow-angle (135 degrees) lens, does not cause censures. The recording format is, of course, MP4 (H.264), SDXC memory cards and all shooting automation modes (shock sensors, motion in the frame, and car movements) are supported. We especially note the presence of two slots for memory cards - it is unlikely to find another DVR capable of storing up to 256 (!) GB of video information on the current market. The ability to quickly duplicate an important file onto a “backup” card is an important advantage of the Neoline recorder.
More interesting quality rather expensive gadget as a radar detector. Well, here the manufacturer claims support for all relevant systems, including laser meters and the Avtodoria average speed meter that is especially “loved” by drivers, and the X-COP 9100 very accurately determines the distance to both cameras of the system. In addition to this, regularly updated roadmaps, GLONASS support and the ability to set user control points make X-COP the undisputed leader of our rating - the manufacturer managed to fit the almost perfect combination of a DVR, radar detector and GPS informer in one package. The ability to control gestures (for example, turning off the sound with a wave of the hand in front of the screen), taking out the charging socket on the bracket also became small but pleasant touches to the “portrait” of the device. Therefore, deserved first place in the ranking of the best DVRs with anti-radar - and according to experts, and according to reviews of car enthusiasts on forums and various sites. Main advantages:

The best DVR with anti-radar, justifies its price. Databases are updated frequently - on a long journey, an indispensable assistant. |
The rather high price of this registrar 2 in 1 involuntarily makes it necessary to inspect it closely and read the characteristics: I would like to expect a lot from it, but will it meet the expectations? Well, let's begin to disassemble "by the bones".
A lens with 6 glass lenses and a viewing angle of 170 degrees for the premium segment is the norm, but a removable filter was a pleasant surprise: it copes well with its task of eliminating glare and glare. The recorder matrix provides a clear and detailed image, the quality of which is supported by auto-tuning of the mode according to the overall illumination of the frame. There are no complaints about the registrar here. Note also the thoughtful design of the bracket: the power wire is connected directly to it, and to remove the recorder, you only need to make one hand movement. On registrars from other manufacturers, such a simple idea is not so common in general - and this is really convenient. In contrast to the sliding fasteners with wire contacts from the end face, the awe-inspiring jack is installed here. In combination with autonomy up to 40 minutes, the ability to quickly retrieve the recorder from the bracket deserves a solid five, and perhaps even with a plus. The very same bracket is glued to the glass on the 3M scotch tape - after the lovers fall off at the most inopportune moment of the suckers, this also pleases, but do not forget about the high-quality degreasing of glass before installation. Another unusual moment is the presence of two slots for memory cards (going, by the way, in the bundle!). The same solution was found only in the leader of the rating from the company Neoline. A couple of button presses you can always quickly copy the desired video to the second card and not be afraid that the card transferred to the parsing group with the accident record is “accidentally lost.” The only pity is that SDXC cards, whose capacity can reach up to 128 GB, are not supported: the maximum for each slot is 32 GB. Got a taste? Well, the NGO Datakam has prepared another surprise in the form of the ability to encrypt records. Of course, I do not in any way urge you to change your spouses (Olya, I love you and I don’t have such a thing in my thoughts!), But this unique opportunity cannot be noted in the DVR: whatever happens in your car, it is always can remain a secret. The GPS / GLONASS receiver of the device is integrated with the Speedk system - the coordinates of the vehicle are checked against the regularly updated road base when driving, and alerts about traffic police posts, cameras and dangerous road sections are displayed both on the device screen and voice. But the receiver of radar signals is not here at all, so the only warning about the "tripod" on the way will be unless the blinking of oncoming drivers. Therefore, our verdict will be simple: as a DVR, this gadget is great, but the radar detector came out of it clearly unsuccessful. Therefore, the initial hopes for a solid first place in the ranking of the best DVRs with anti-radar fail miserably. Main advantages:

A gadget man’s dream, but the lack of a radar receiver can pretty much let you down on the road and make you think about purchasing another model. |

In the recorder with a rather frivolous brand, which made Alice remember the Adventure Through the Looking Glass, attention was attracted by a lens, which from afar made us rely on large-size optics with a good aperture. Unfortunately, near this "pipe" was a fake, in which fit the sensor radar detector and not the most impressive lens.
There are no complaints about the quality of the matrix: its 4 megapixels allow you to shoot FullHD video with interpolation in the direction of decreasing resolution, reducing the level of noise. During the day, there are really very few of them; certain gaps of red noise (the common misfortune of CMOS-matrices with higher sensitivity in the lower part of the spectrum) can be found already in the twilight. The video is processed by the H.264 codec (thanks to the Ambarella A7 processor), and support for SDXC cards up to 64 GB allows you to record even long journeys without looping overwriting. The radar detector supports the reception of the signal of laser speed sensors in addition to the usual radio frequency, and this is an indisputable plus. It is a pity that the sensitivity of the optosensor is small, and on a cloudy day through the dusty glass it can skip the beam aimed at the car. Here it remains to hope for the hints of the GPS informer, which is quite readable duplicated on the 2.4-inch device screen. Contacts for the power cord at the Playme are placed on the mounting bracket - this makes it possible to remove it in one movement and facilitates concealed wiring. It is a pity that the contact block itself on the recorder is quite clumsy: the cylindrical "jack" of DATACAM, forced to give up this recorder in the rating, is much more reliable than the block with wire contacts. Nevertheless, by the ratio of the overall functionality of all systems to the price, this DVR with a radar detector honestly deserved a worthy place in the ranking of the best. Main advantages:

Combining several functions in one device is good, but the main thing is that everything as a whole works as it should. I like both the quality of the recording and the warning about the fixation cameras, plus the look of the DVR is cool and the controls are simple. |

Externally, this car gadget from the company Artway, which managed to be noted in our rating of ordinary DVRs - and quite well - resembles a classic radar detector, with the exception of a 2-inch screen located on the back of the device. By the standards of DVRs, the “stuffing” is quite appropriate for the price - a fairly high-quality CMOS matrix of 2 megapixels, which allows you to shoot FullHD video without increasing interpolation, automatically recording video based on the G-sensor signal and the SOS function (file overwrite lock). Glass optics has a viewing angle of 140 degrees. Alas, the night mode is purely conditional here: there is no additional IR illumination on the MD-102, and there is no extended range (WDR) either. But in the characteristics of the device, the eye immediately clings to the statement of support for the H.264 codec - for devices in this price category, such a “bonus” from the manufacturer was a pleasant surprise. The GPS module of the system warns the driver about approaching the points indicated on the map or independently entered into the device’s memory. If desired, the settings can be set to automatically record the coordinates of the car and its speed in the subtitles of the video. Additionally, a compass display is provided - this is a bit, but on a two-inch screen it is difficult to place something else. As for the radar detector, it is made on the modern level and is able to receive a signal from both radio frequency systems and to detect the radiation of laser speed detectors. The sensitivity level can be configured in several ways (3 levels “City” and maximum sensitivity in the “Track” mode). Reception of signals of LISD-2 type laser systems relevant in large cities (laser velocity meter) is undoubtedly a great advantage of the gadget. And customer reviews about this DVR with radar detector are very good. Main advantages:

A variety of electronics under the brand of Sho-Me, perhaps, will pay for a long time for the low-quality xenon of this brand that flooded the car markets in the 2000s: alas, nothing spoils the image as well as “clear basins” with high-powered searchlights instead of headlights. Fortunately, now the company offers better and more useful products in automobile shops, but there is still some skepticism about its products. What do we have in this case? A fairly compact monoblock with a screen of a non-standard 2.31 diagonal diagonal, at the front end of which the lens of the recorder settled. The registrar, even though it claims FullHD resolution, became a victim of either low-cost optics or image interpolation from a low-resolution matrix: even during the day the number in front of the traveling car can be disassembled from no more than 5 meters, and on the highway it is close to a dangerous distance . At night, the low sensitivity of the matrix and the lack of IR illumination, which could improve the situation, have an effect. The low supported card capacity (up to 32 GB) is also not in the best way combined with the “heavy” AVI digitization format. The “number one” radar detector is also outdated: modern LISD-type laser meters are already too tough for him, so the owner of the device in megalopolises may run into an unpleasant surprise. Unless, of course, he will follow the prompts of the GPS informant, whose database, fortunately, is updated quite often, and the voice alerts are complemented by visual ones. Given the price, significantly higher than the more modern Artway, the rating clearly deserves a decline. A separate “phi” in the direction of the developer is the answer to his idea to release a device weighing almost half a kilogram (to be more exact - 420 g) on a regular suction cup bracket: I don’t know how in China, but in Russia the roads clearly don’t appreciate the strength of such mounts. The best navigators with video recorder

The mention of two animals is firmly rooted in the slang of lovers of all kinds of gadgets. If Khomyak enthusiastically revels in the list of characteristics of each novelty and, with ecstasy following the reviews, he is treading on the owner to buy a new object of admiration for himself, then Toad diligently discourages him from spending another money. In the case of the Garmin NuviCam navigator, the confrontation of these chthonic monsters promises to be particularly hot: the recognized masters of the production of navigation systems managed to create a truly high-quality and multifunctional "combine", but its price ... Well, let's see what more than 40 thousand are asking for us. The hamster squeaked greedily, looking around at the main unit of the device with a 6-inch touchscreen. The quality of the Garmin navigation shell has long been known - here it was crossed with a portable compact camera, which, in addition to recording road video, was assigned to implement the functions of lane control and collision warning. Garmin receives up-to-date information about the traffic situation from Yandex through a plug-in RDS receiver, if the smartphone owner with the Smartphone Link application is installed, the gadget can use its Internet traffic to get more detailed data where the RDS signal is not transmitted. At the same time, the Hands-Free function works: the navigator can receive incoming calls from the phone paired with it. The DVR, despite the small size of the camera, “writes” a picture of a very good quality, when approaching important objects on the map, automatically switching the display on the camera and pointing the right direction with an arrow (here Khomyak began to fight in the paroxysm of passion, clawing his hands with all his strength ). Naturally, the device provides for the automation of recording by accelerometer, which tracks a sharp slowdown, and most control commands can be entered by voice. It is a pity that the device supports memory cards with a capacity of no more than 64 GB, and the bundle includes a card of only 4 GB - here Toad slyly grinned and began to beat the position of the Hamster. However, this can be called the only real drawback of the device - it is not just a mixture of the navigator with the recorder, but a full-fledged complex with functionality worthy of premium class. If in the battle of Hamster and Toad the leader of the rating of the best navigators with the DVR lost last, now their confrontation may resume: DriveAssist from the same company Garmin is also able to attract close attention. It is made in the traditional avtonavigator format 5-inch tablet with built-in camera, which, by the way, although it loses the camera NuviCam, but few.
The entire functionality of the flagship model has been transferred here, including interaction with the smartphone through the Smartphone Link application, control of the lane and the distance to the vehicles in front (by the way, when you turn on the GO! Function, the navigator in traffic will automatically remind you that the traffic has started time will be distracted). As an additional option, the BC 30 wireless rear-view camera or the BabyCam baby monitor can be purchased. In general, Garmin managed to significantly reduce the price while maintaining almost all the functionality of the "older" model - here the Toad will be much more difficult to defeat the Hamster. If the first two leaders in the ranking of the best Navigator-Recorders are appropriate in the cabin of an expensive sedan or sports coupe, then it’s enough to take Montana 680 in hand to understand that this is a device for a serious jeep. And it's not just a shockproof, waterproof case - the very vertical orientation of the device with a 4-inch screen that conveniently and securely fits in your hand hints that it is easy to get it out of the mount and go on foot behind the tractor in search of the nearest village. The case, manufactured according to the strictest protection standard (IPX7), will allow you to even drown the navigator in the swamp during the journey during the search - a long dive to the depth of one meter is absolutely safe for him.
In addition to GPS, the device version delivered to Russia also supports GLONASS - well, this is another plus to off-road operation. Unexpectedly, for a compact case, there is a very high-quality camera in an 8-megapixel matrix: creating an excellent navigator for the toughest operation, Garmin did not save on its functionality as a recorder. Let's add here autonomy up to 16 hours, the built-in altimeter and accurate topographic maps of Russia with measurements of the depths of reservoirs and understand that for lovers of extreme autotravel this navigator-recorder will be the best choice. It is a pity that for such characteristics you have to pay literally - standing at the cashier of the store. Main advantages:

Although the market for cheap car navigators is gradually giving way to Android’s “green robot”, this Prology model runs on the “good old” Windows CE, which is satisfied with a 500 MHz single-core processor and a 1050 mAh lithium-polymer battery this is more than enough for fast and stable operation with decent autonomy.
The mapping used is provided by Navitel, and this is an excellent recommendation for the device, although a more powerful GPS receiver antenna would be most welcome here. Information about traffic jams can be uploaded via a Bluetooth connection with a paired smartphone. Of course, a high-quality camera cannot be installed in a device of this format. Therefore, in the role of the DVR, the iMap-580TR is comparable to the cheapest models, yielding a rather mediocre 720p video detail. An interesting solution is used for data storage: the device has two slots for memory cards, one of them is used by the navigator, the second is recorded video. The recording format is, of course, AVI: at the same time working with navigation and more resource-consuming codecs would be problematic to the Prology processor even considering the incredibly low by modern standards resource consumption by the operating system itself. Constructive. How to choose hybrids navigator, DVR and radar detector?
So, today we are considering the best multifunctional DVRs equipped with GPS modules and speed sensor detectors used by the traffic police.
Consider each node separately to understand the main criteria by which you need to choose a navigator with a DVR and a radar detector.
Requirements to video recorder Standard: high-quality glass optics, high-resolution matrix with low noise, video encoding with high compression. Alas, the use of the most optimal H.264 codec requires a fair amount of computational power, and so far remains a typical feature of premium-class DVRs. Considering that in our case an additional load is placed on the device's processor, it is not surprising that most models on the market store video at best in MOV format, more often in the banal AVI, which eats gigabytes of memory on a flash card in FullHD resolution.
- Module radar detector must satisfy contradictory conditions: on the one hand, high sensitivity is required of it, which allows to detect radiation of DPS radars from the maximum distance, on the other hand, the higher the sensitivity, the more false alarms. Especially “sin” in this regard is the K range (24.15 GHz), which is blocked in the city by automatic door sensors in shopping centers and car dealerships. As a result, the manufacturer has to enter into the device program quite complex algorithms for processing the received signal.
- Call navigator The GPS subsystem of the video recorder is not quite true, but in everyday use this term is firmly ingrained in the language. In fact, full navigation with detailed map display and route miscalculation in the registrar format cannot be realized: the display is too small, and installing it in a convenient place for viewing is not compatible with the optimal location of the recorder. In fact, the task of the GPS receiver is to track the coordinates of the car and compare them with the recorded map, which contains the labels of speed limits and fixed cameras. When speeding, such a device warns the driver about this, also informing about the presence of “shooting in the back” cameras in the area of movement that the radar detector cannot find, since their radiation is directed in the direction of the flow of movement, and not against it, as usual.
On the other hand, nothing prevents to combine the navigator with the DVR: it is enough to add a camera to it, to entrust the video signal processing to the program working in the device’s operating system. Applications of this kind are also available for tablets and smartphones; However, if you need a navigator as a separate device, it will also be a good solution to purchase a navigator with a built-in recorder.
However, full-fledged “combines” in our market are still rare, although there is some progress - and our current rating gives examples.
