For the first test I recorded my voice, stuck Beyerdynamic dt770pro monitor studio headphones into the recorder and was stunned: in real life I would not have thought that it was possible to record SO voice on a portable device. And, in my opinion, Tascam writes a voice more honestly than Zoom H1, which adds a bit of bass to it and slightly colors the sound;
- - Excellent build quality. Compared with Zoom H1 - plastic is cheap and creaky, microphone protection is fragile in appearance, and here the body is straight monolithic, and the buttons are all pressed clearly, with a pleasant click;

- - Informative display with pleasant amber backlight;
- - There is a microphone input, i.e. videographers can record, for example, the signal from the microphone-gun is not in the camera, but in this device - it will turn out more qualitatively than immediately in the camera;

disadvantages
- Larger than Zoom H1 and runs on two, not one battery;
- You can not use via USB as, for example, a microphone for Skype;
- No windscreen included (but not one competitor either). If you buy it separately, then the plugged headphone plug makes it a bit difficult to pull the windscreen all the way. This truth does not affect the quality of the recording, and not everyone needs to monitor the sound when recording;
- It is better to immediately change the two-flash flash drive to a more voluminous one, since with the maximum settings it lasts only an hour;
- Price in Russia. But we generally have incomprehensible pricing: where does the figure 6500-7000 p. (and this is the minimum!) for this recorder, when its direct competitor Zoom h1 is cheaper - 4700-5000 p. Abroad, the situation is reversed: both of these models were initially announced at the same price - $ 99, but now there are even less requests for $ 49 for normal Tascam shops, and $ 99 for Zoom, and this that Zoom is objectively worse assembled and poorer functionally.

I am delighted with the recorder! All of these shortcomings are completely irrelevant. And about the price - I advise you to buy in foreign stores. If you combine the package with several purchases, you can very seriously save on delivery and get a better and cheaper item than the same Zoom H1.

Suitable for music. By default it writes 16-bit 44kHz in the WAV format.
Convenient button (quick) to access the context menu: when recording, this is a way to adjust the recording level: auto, manual, peak smoothing, etc.
The speaker is turned off programmatically, to avoid accidental switching on at the wrong moment, the default mode is off (i.e. pressing Play for the first time, you will not hear anything until you turn on the speaker).
Comes with a memory card, usb-cord and a pair of batteries. The instruction is in English.

p.s. Maybe someone will come in handy. I didn’t immediately understand that if you select a mode during recording, for example, auto level, then you need to press REC again to start recording. In principle, it is logical.

Recorder writes very high quality. The sensitivity is so high that you can make out speech of quietly speaking people at a distance of up to 10 meters!
Microphones are narrowly focused, from this the recorder works on the principle of a flashlight, where you direct it, then it will write. A good stereo picture is observed only within a dozen centimeters from the microphones; all that is further is to strive towards the center. I liked the function of indicating the operation of the limiter. When recording in a dark room or at night in nature, it is convenient to track overloads. Comfortable ergonomics and menu management. Everything is so intuitive that after 15 minutes of using the recorder, I could control it by touch. Another voice recorder quickly turns on, 2 seconds and is already recording.

I use it to record rehearsals in a group (playing Russian rock). I write in mp3 128 kbps - to save memory, and all-exactly, the recording quality (for rep. Material) is very high!
With the limiter function, you can safely write live drums without fear of overloading! Surprisingly pleased with the intelligibility in the recorded material: you can hear everything: who and where lazhanul! )
