This was my first DSLR, from which I switched to FF and it fully justified itself as a reporting camera for every day. The focusing system of this device is very sophisticated, compared to the tenth and hundredth series, as well as, with an affordable 5D mark II.
The device is well suited for shooting sports events, moving people, animals, running children are well caught in the frame. Due to the fact that it is cropped, a larger number of inexpensive lenses are available here, which make it possible to assemble the necessary set for all occasions and for any genre for little money.
According to the DXO tests, the matrix, if noisy, is no more than the other Kenon Crop matrices in other cameras and is very different only from full-frame ones. The 70D has a bit less noise, because there is a new matrix there, but it doesn’t have to be full frame, which means there’s no need to talk about a qualitative jump.
I consider this camera to be one of the best in ergonomics, especially since its body is identical to the 5D Mark III, as is the autofocus system and most of the settings too. At the same time, in the seven there are no all these pontovy GPS, WiFi, turntables and other things, which increases the price of the device.
As a memory card, there is CF, not SD, which allows us to save a lot on high-speed memory cards (4 years ago I already had a card, 90/60 mb. Ps for less than $ 100, and now they are still cheaper), Unlike the XXD series, which uses SD cards.
For those who complain about noises, flat pictures, colors, etc., I recommend not picking up the ISO more than you need and visiting photo courses for beginners. The 7D has a working ISO 3200, which is enough for the eyes for any filming, especially with high-aperture fixes. The possibilities of micro autofocus tuning in a carcass make it possible to save on lens alignment, and this is a sore subject for all cheap carcasses.
As I already wrote, in the new Kenon cameras there is no qualitative jump in noise, so the 7-ka wins them in terms of the totality of parameters and price. Or take the 70D.

Virtues
- Excellent autofocus. Visibly better than the 40D / 50D. Zone focusing is a very convenient thing. The rate of fire is great, almost like in 1D. Light viewfinder with bold focus points. Chic screen. Presets C1, C2, C3 on the wheel. There are a lot of minor improvements to the settings that previously were only in 1D. Built-in flash finally became the lead. Excellent video shooting. New button for LiveView / Video. Many shots per charge.
disadvantages
- No sound comments to the photo, although there is a microphone. Well, they should have added such a function to the menu? New Chip rechargeable batteries. If you buy third-party batteries, then you need your own charger and the camera will not display their charge. But will shoot, at least for that thanks. Unfinished horizontal handle (you need to do, like Nikon, so that 3 batteries are inserted). Custom buttons have few options for choosing functions. Noises ugly, dirty, not like film grain. If you pull up, the noise in the shadows climb too high. If you do not pull - fine. When shooting a video camera heats up. Grip slightly decreased compared to 40D / 50D. Anyway, I don't really like this sleek design.

I myself own the 1D mark III. A colleague bought a 7D, on this occasion, they began to compare cameras on their own. I was pleasantly surprised. In the following autofocus, the 7D is not inferior to 1Dmk3. Sometimes it seems to me that even surpasses. In terms of noise up to ISO 3200, the 7D has a small loss, which is almost leveled by a larger image size. At ISO 6400, on the contrary, the 7D noise is slightly lower. Viewfinders are the same. Switching to presets C1, C2, C3 for the 7D is even more convenient than for the 1D. Well, the screen is much better, there's nothing to say. In short, for reportage - a very practical purchase.

It took a little over two years after the acquisition of this model. Since the seven was announced, I realized that I need a camera. I love creative, artistic photography, and I understand perfectly well that for this you need a full frame, respectively, 5d mark 2 I still want, and this camera will be my next acquisition. But it turned out that I earn mainly on the report. And when I first started using the seven, I was completely satisfied with the performance of this camera.Focusing + rate of fire - I was killed on the spot and this is taking into account the fact that at the beginning I had the usual tamronchik 17-50 without yusm motor, well, and canon 85 1.8 ysm - then I, of course, just dumbfounded on speed. I bought the memory card is not the most thieves, but I received 6 frames per second exactly and it was enough for me, then I took the card even faster and received 8 frames clearly. Specifically, in my work, super-detailing is not spongy important, so I’m quite satisfied with any ISO up to 1600. But if you seriously find fault with it, then the detailing is excellent in the range of 160-400. 100 soapy, 500 and beyond - the picture is not perfect. Surely much depends on the lens. At the moment I have only 70-200 F4 Elk - according to his pictures, the details on various ISOs and judgments ...
I did not try the video for a long time, but as soon as I tried it - it went nuts. Buy fixes and shoot a movie, without autofocus you have to suffer, of course, but the video is very creative and professional at the same time! I rarely use this video function, but it was done just fine.
I would especially like to highlight ergonomics. He did not hold a more convenient thing in his hands. Everything is very thoughtful, the fastest access to any zamorochku even with closed eyes.
In general, if you need a report - 7d still has no analogues in its price range - I am just sure of that.
I have no desire to change this camera. I'm going to buy a top five, but already as a second camera.

It is very convenient to shoot for sports and other things where the speed of the focus is important, take a picture!
I use with telephoto lenses of type 70-200 and 100-400, portrait painters, where cropping is not very important. For landscapes, it is better to use something like 5dm *. If you use the device as a reportage, I recommend not to skimp and put a fast memory card.

- I've been using it for almost a year now. Everything is relative, the sevens were up to seven, so I decided to describe a few differences. In comparison with the 40D, the viewfinder is really better, just a fairy tale! I was scared when I couldn't charge the battery by charging for the first day of purchase for sharpness, the presence of a battery in the camera turned out to be necessary. The grid and 100% frame coverage is very convenient! Autofocus speed, the choice of focus points is also super, although in 40D everything was fine, but in the seven it was an order of magnitude more convenient, thanks to the additional button. Detail This is better, but, alas, the noise at low ISOs is much more noticeable, the unjustifiably large number of pixels also influenced the dynamic range, the light and shade were far less distant from each other. The battery life is significantly lower, but I think it’s not important at all. as well as with the forty, I always had the second with me. In many reviews they write that the rear screen is glass and does not scratch, and so it is scratched, especially about the metal buttons on the clothes. I practically do not use video recordings, this is not mine, and the processor on my own kinds of computer Well, I just don’t draw full hd :) and the upgrade has no time, no need, no money. But nevertheless, a very convenient video button pleases, maybe sometime I will make a movie :) Ergonomic conveniences on 40D were also at a height, but here, it seems to be weather proof, but if necessary, to take off in the rain, it was not worth putting an ordinary transparent plastic bag on the forgings. Rubber around the tripod mount is much larger than in 40D, respectively, much more reliable connection with a tripod site, once, in an upright position, the 40D almost flew off the state va becauseadvantage of the lens and a small area of contact with the pad. So, I wanted to write a few lines, but it turns out you can write and write :) And in one word, if you have 40 or 50D and you take pictures for the soul and not for money and you don’t need much video, then I would not recommend to change them for the seven.
