The amount of occupied memory is displayed in dark brown color and is called "Other files". That is, if it shows 2 GB, then the memory will be already full and only 500 MB will remain just for personal files. All other indicators - light brown (system memory), dark green (busy), turquoise (cached data) - can be ignored, they are completely uninformative. That is, you need to follow the column "Other files" and do not exceed the size of 2 GB, otherwise then you will not be able to install anything in the internal memory. I don’t use a memory card for now while 2 GB on the device is enough, I don’t watch videos and don’t listen to music. I contacted Samsung specialists through the site via chat, they said that all the memory should be available for any operations (installation and storage of files), and the fact that I have is a software failure and you need to bang and reinstall everything. But I recently did it. So, by experience, this is not the case, but in fact 2 GB + 500 MB is available.At the same time, the tablet itself sometimes lies and gets confused in the "Busy" and "Other files" columns and shows untruthful information, that is, it distributes the memory over these two columns, and as a result, in the "Busy" column it can show less, and in the "Other files "more, for example, 2.95 GB, but this is an illusion, exit the settings and go back and in the column" Other files "will show less than 2 GB (if you do not have a memory full).

The fact is that kitkat focuses on ensuring the protection of personal data of tablet users and for this, the ability of applications to write something to an external memory card is severely limited. As a result, applications can only be partially transferred from internal memory to an external memory card, many application data and caches cannot be transferred at all, third-party file dispatchers are useless, and the dispatcher embedded in the system is inconvenient. The result is a constant shortage of internal memory, constant torment with its clearing and the use of clumsy built-in file manager. All this can be avoided by getting a root, but the root has its drawbacks.

Comment: If you are going to put many programs on this tablet, and even games with large caches - this tablet is not for you. Perhaps asus only. BUT - engineers of the asus, guys are expensive, in 2013-2014 even the notorious nonamey Chinese do not make such a framework. And the 3G version is five rubles more expensive.
Cons - camera. Complete bullshit. If critical - do not take. She is here just from the time of Nokia-3310. And many applications, even the most innocent and undemanding, for some reason are not available in the market. And the rest - a very, very good device. Choose.

Tab 4 is perfect as a gift to parents and babushka-m. They are little concerned about the cores, viewing angles, smooth interface, the number of points in AnTuTu, and other phallometry. But bezglyuchnost, "pretty display", a good battery, which is often forgotten to charge and the fact that he "enters the handbag", just will not leave indifferent. And if the gluteus of fortune in the late train takes you a tablet, or gravity calls him on the final journey, then you will not cry for a long time, huddled in a corner ...)
In general, as the former owner of a small park of 7 "tablets, I decided ... to leave it.
And the last. The tablet silently ate a 32GB card formatted in exFAT, that is, the tablet should eat a 64GB card as well ... So use and have fun. But most importantly - be healthy! Everything else you can buy ...)

Advantages: It is pleasant in the hand, compact (I compare only with iPad 3 and iPad 4) because there were no other tablets. Pretty smart.I did not check on "heavy" games, but all sorts of quests and casual logic, such as "find the object" or "three in a row", run without complaints.
For surfing the Internet (both via wifi and 3G), reading books, watching movies and listening to music is quite a decent version of the tablet on android os.
There were small dances with a tambourine when setting up the device "by itself". But this does not apply to the model itself, rather to the features of the system :)
The price is adequate, in my opinion.

Disadvantages: Since I have a tablet for nearly two weeks, I didn’t see any problems.
But ... upset the situation with Android 4.4 KitKat. Namely, the fact that this pre-installed version restricts applications access to the SD memory card. That is, Google hints that the data should be stored on the internal memory of the tablet. It's sad. Of course, the brave craftsmen found a way out, but one cannot do without regular dances with a tambourine.
But then again, is it not a question for samsung ... or nevertheless? ..
Another moment is unpleasant - when the battery charge is below 5-10% (I can't remember for sure), the brightness of the screen drops dramatically, that is, so that almost nothing will be visible.

Comment: Unfortunately, about the "vitality" of the battery I can not bring any special criticism, although if compared with the same iPad, the latter works longer. While with all the "shamanism" in the applications to improve the work of android, my animal keeps charge for a day. With its adequate use, and disconnection without the need for data transmission over the cellular network, wifi, geodata and other "hungry" processes of the system. I did not conduct any special tests, as there is no time for this, and there is no special desire either.
