Stretch ceilings give a lot: great views, practicality (hiding communications, protection from flooding), durability, quick installation ... Instead, they only require skillful care, which will allow you to enjoy an impeccable aesthetic look for much longer.
The question arises: how often do you have to do this? Stretch ceilings - antistatic, cloth, from which they are made, do not attract dust. Therefore, if there is no other pollution, for example, nicotine gum, construction dust and stains, kitchen grease, then they can be cared for twice a year. In this case, the cleaning method is determined by the type of stretch ceiling.
Care for stretch ceilings based on PVC film
Stretch ceilings on a film basis are strong, durable and elastic. They can be cleaned with just plain clean water (optimum temperature 30-40 ° C), and with the addition of detergents. The following rules will help to do it right:
• Stretch ceilings are washed, adjusting the force of pressure, as with a minimum distance from the base ceiling of 2-3.5 cm the canvas can be damaged as a result of their contact. At the same time, it is not necessary to be afraid of touching the ceiling with your hands, it is durable, like a drum, and will easily withstand it.
• If ordinary water is not enough for cleaning, then dilute detergent or some washing powder in it, mixing the solution well until the granules disappear. Moistening the cloth in the solution, the pollution is cleaned with light movements parallel to the seam (if any). Then the remains of the soap solution is removed with a damp cloth and wipe the ceiling dry.
• For cleaning, it is recommended to use flannel, suede, terry, microfiber fabrics or soft sponges (the main thing is that there should be no lint on the cleaning napkins and they should absorb moisture well). Hard fabrics and sponges can leave stains, and the work will have to be redone.
• It is possible to return several lost shine with 10% solution of ammonia, after wiping the surface dry.
• Do not use abrasives, kerosene, alkalis, acids, or acetone for cleaning - they damage the surface.
• The best option would be to use a sponge and degreasing agent recommended by the manufacturer. Today, special polishes are popular, which can be purchased in hardware stores or departments of household chemicals. All of them contain alcohol, so they can be successfully replaced by means of washing windows on a spirit basis, which is especially good for glossy stretch ceilings, where divorces are especially noticeable. Cleaning is simple: sprinkle a little detergent and gently wipe with a cloth.
• When using mops and brushes, make sure that they do not have cutting and piercing protrusions that can scratch or even cut the film. If this does happen, then a small incision can be glued with a piece of film or tape. And if the damage is significant, you will need to contact a specialist.
• Paint splashes hit the stretch ceiling. What to do? If it is water-based paint, it is soaked with water and gently tried to remove it mechanically (with a small rubber or plastic spatula). If it is an oil and pentaphthalic paint, then you can very carefully touch the ceiling soaking 646 with a solvent or nail polish remover (in no case rub with a cloth moistened with a solvent).
• You can try to remove individual small stains with a regular school eraser, grease stains in the kitchen with dishwashing detergent. Spots of ballpoint pens, markers and markers can be cleaned with medical or boric alcohol, which are sold in a pharmacy.
I would also like to note that if you decide to stick stars and butterflies to the ceiling on double-sided tape, then you should know: it is not washed off!
Care for fabric-based stretch ceilings
With regard to fabric stretch ceilings, we can say that they need more careful handling and careful maintenance.
• Such ceilings can be washed (preferably with a damp white cloth). Strong contamination is removed using a powder solution.
• In no case should the fabric ceilings be washed with glass cleaner. Such a tool corrodes the impregnation of fabric, which has in its composition dyes.
• It is better to use special formulations and aerosols recommended by manufacturers.
• Suede stretch ceilings should be cleaned with soft brushes.
As you can see, in the care of the stretch ceilings there are no special tricks, ease of use - one of their advantages. Every hostess will be happy for this.
