Top 10 solid fuel boilers
If you compare the various options for boilers for autonomous heating at home, then the option of buying a solid fuel boiler is often the most interesting. If only because of the utmost simplicity, unlike gas boilers, which provides not only reliability and safety (a gas leak is not a funny thing), but also reduces the price. Of course, the gas boiler uses cheaper fuel, and it “feeds” from the pipe itself, there would be only pressure - but if the building is not gasified, the supply of natural gas or the installation of a gas-holder will pay for itself for a long time.
The only thing that can definitely be called a minus of such boilers is the need for regular fuel loading and cleaning. Therefore, creating this rating, we paid attention not only to the overall quality of manufacture of solid fuel boilers, but also to the convenience of their operation: for how long a single load lasts, how cleaning is organized.

The best solid fuel boilers long burning
115 900
When choosing a solid fuel boiler, it is reasonable to look first at the most “omnivorous” models, and in this regard, the U (Universal) line from Stropuva looks attractive: the manufacturer claims that there will be enough coal loading for up to 130 hours, briquettes for up to 72 hours, firewood - up to 31 hours. And originally Lithuanian boilers are now manufactured for our market in St. Petersburg, although this mainly affects only the price - the quality is generally comparable, the difference is that the assemblers now prefer not “Shvyturys”, but “Baltika”. And the fact that the Lithuanian site will be more honorable than the Russian: the Lithuanians in the list of characteristics directly write that the burning duration is indicated for the minimum load, and the figures for the maximum are given. And here it becomes immediately clear that coal is not as convenient for actual operation as you might think from the "advertising" numbers - they say, poured a bag and do not fit for several days. “At the limit,” coal loading is burned out in 27 hours (a good difference?), But briquettes “work” in the same way for 72 hours. Now it’s clear why owners complain in forums that coal is being consumed much faster than advertising promises. The efficiency of the boiler is stated at 85%, which is quite good. Moreover, the power of 40 kilowatts will allow you to be sure that it will not be cold in winter. But the developers should blame the barrel shape - if coal doesn’t hinder the fall of coal, then try to put firewood here normally (which the central air supply pipe and the distributor also interfere with). It is immediately clear that universality here with certain restrictions - even though the boiler “eats” and that’s it, he does not like everything equally. Yes, and clean it, too, do not say that it is convenient. In general, something interesting is conceived ... but the implementation is some kind of "sprats". Main advantages:

I bought it for the sake of a long burning ... Well, in principle, yes, it is. But enough inconvenience. |
98 500
This cylinder-shaped boiler has an interesting principle of operation: only a small upper layer of the laid fuel burns (usually it is firewood or wood briquettes). Therefore, one bookmark you enough for at least 7 hours. And if it is very cold outside, and there is a need for longer maintenance of temperature, the boiler can operate continuously for about one and a half days. It is also convenient that, despite its height (over one and a half meters), this unit will not clutter the room - it is narrow and elegant. Dear, but quality. Main advantages:

The best pyrolysis solid fuel boilers

The German company hardly needs notions: it has been producing heating boilers since the end of the 19th century. Well, specifically, this 50-kilowatt boiler, capable of “eating” wood up to 58 cm long, will be an excellent, albeit not cheap, solution for heating due to efficiency reaching 90% and reliability (but bear in mind that the heat exchanger is still steel! ). In addition, the electronics of the boiler allows you to control an external boiler - you get a sort of modular "double-circuit". The duration of burning of dry wood at full load is up to three hours. The ability to control via GSM and even integration into the “smart home” system via Ethernet is available (optional modules are needed). Loading and cleaning are conveniently organized, which is logical - whatever one may say, they ask for a lot of money. But immediately get ready to work thoroughly on hardening the floor - the boiler weighs all 466 kg! Main advantages:

Top classic solid fuel boilers

Here, both versatility and “lazy dream” to you: this boiler with an efficiency of 82% works on any fuel, and it is also equipped with an automatic feed bunker - they promise more than a week of work on one backfill! Naturally, such a trick will not give up with firewood (just don’t remember the anecdote about the juicer and birch sap), so that if you take the boiler with the bunker, the firewood will be more likely a backup power option. In general, Krasnoyarsk residents clearly decided to play out “for everything” - here you will have both automatic feeding, and the possibility of installing heating elements, and even optional control via GSM. To control the boiler, a digital remote control is used, located, we note, very inconvenient - at the very top of the boiler, and its height - meter sixty. It personally will not hurt the author, but not all the same by two meters in height - someone will need a stool to adjust. And there is something to adjust: the temperature, and the air supply by the fan, and the speed of the screw, in total more than 10 parameters. In short, “at random” is better not to climb. The abundance of mechanics, of course, reduces reliability, especially the teeth of the rotary retort drive suffer, which is not surprising - the gears in the “hot” place have a hard time. Well and, obviously, the boiler is volatile. So we can’t give him the maximum score: although the idea is interesting, not everyone will like such a boiler. Main advantages:

Pig-iron and simple as a hammer - what else is needed from a classical solid-fuel boiler, by and large? And the Italians did not spare the iron — the kettle weighs three and a half centners.Capacity on coal reaches 45 kilowatts, on wood - up to 40. So even on not very high-quality fuel there is a decent margin. Thermostatic combustion control is "out of the box", you just need to install the boiler and start it, without buying anything. A good feature of this whole line is that the coolant circulates in the channels inside the grate, protecting it from burning out over time. The dimensions of the loading door and the door for cleaning are large - it is convenient to operate the boiler. Main advantages:

In terms of efficiency, the boiler came out not to say that it was successful: 71.65% is on coal, and 63.15% is on wood. In our market, there are more efficient solid fuel boilers than this 32-kilowatt (hmm ... Strange, they rounded it up to 40 in the name). In this case, the name is quite appropriate - he literally “nibbles” the firewood, it will be necessary to pawn them every two hours. As for the advantages, this is first of all, of course, “meat”, the boiler weighs three centners. The heat exchanger is durable and durable; in operation, solid Protherm (unlike gas counterparts) performs well. Main advantages:

Yes, Bosch does and boilers. Specifically, this top-loading model has a power of 27 kW and can work on any kind of solid fuel, even when simultaneously loading several, which is directly indicated by the manufacturer. Efficiency - 76%, traditional for boilers of this type. It is loaded and cleaned conveniently, does not require frequent "refueling". However, despite the fact that the solid fuel boiler as a whole is both conceived and done well, please note that it has a steel heat exchanger and its maximum working pressure is only 2 bar. In addition, weakly seals on the doors - with time begins to cut air, but "treated" is not difficult. Main advantages:

Kentatsu ELEGANT-03
35 950
It would seem that a good contender for a high place in the ranking of solid fuel boilers is a Japanese company Kentatsu Denki for more than a century, and what it did not release (as usual for Japan): from typewriters to defense, which the censor did not order to write about. But not everything is so rosy - for some reason, the information about this is not something that is in Japanese, but even in English is not confirmed anywhere. Well, we are no longer used to seeing allegedly “foreign cars” on the market, which in reality turn out to be the fruit of the fantasy of domestic advertisers.
But okay, let's not escalate. In fact, this is not the worst boiler with a water-cooled grate, which develops up to 17 kilowatts of power. The manufacturer's economy is felt only by weight - specifically, this model “pulls” only by 166 kg (after all, cast iron is declared!), And even more powerful models are lightweight for “cast iron”. But for an attempt to mix under the “firm” we will essentially set the rating “below the baseboard”. They asked for it themselves. Main advantages:

The best double-circuit solid fuel boilers
35 950
This boiler from South Korea is as versatile as possible and certainly will not leave your home without heating and hot water: it is able to use not only briquettes, wood or coal as fuel, but also diesel. On the heating circuit is given 35 kilowatts of power, for hot water - 19.8 kW. When heated to forty degrees drinking water flow - up to 6.5 liters per minute.Given the good power reserve, the heating circuit is an excellent option for a private house, where the water supply is already provided by the pump station or well pump with external automation. The diesel fuel, of course, “eats” it is decent - up to 2 liters per hour, so it’s worth leaving it as a backup option: if you forget to add coal to the furnace in time, the boiler will automatically switch to the supply of liquid fuel. The combustion chambers for each fuel are separate, that is, during long-term operation on coal, one should not fear clogging of the nozzle for diesel fuel. However, it is worth considering that with its weight of 170 kg you should not even dream of cast-iron heat exchangers - only steel, alas. Of course, their quality is good, but you should not go overboard with pressure. Main advantages:

The best combined solid fuel boilers
40 860
The 20-kilowatt boiler “out of the box” is designed to work only with coal or firewood, but it also allows modernization — for example, you can install a brand set of heating elements with a capacity of 3 to 15 kW and transfer it to gas, diesel, pellets. An interesting design of the boiler: in order to eliminate the risk of warping, a water shirt was introduced into it, reaching as far as the ash pan. Of course, this complication increases the risk of leakage of welding, but the quality of the boilers of this model can be called decent. But we will still cut the rating - “out of the box” is an ordinary solid fuel, it will turn into a combined one only with a surcharge. Main advantages:

This inexpensive solid fuel boiler is designed primarily for coal - due to the small size of the loading door, it is inconvenient to throw up firewood, but you will have to do it quite often. At the same angle, you can get by with three loads per day, while the boiler delivers up to 22 kW. A heater unit is installed to help the boiler, adding another 6 kilowatts of heat output — if you run out of fuel and burn out, there will be no risk to freeze the house and defrost the heating, even if there is ordinary water in the system, not propylene glycol. In addition, the manufacturer offers the ability to install a gas or pellet burner - choose the fuel to taste. The water grate of the grate used here is not only durable, but also provides additional heat removal when converting to gas or pellets, since the burner is mounted under the grate. Main advantages:

How to choose a good solid fuel boiler?
We begin, naturally, with maximum power. No need to think that if the characteristics of the boiler reads "10 kW / 100 m2", then it will be enough for a small house with a margin. Firstly, the power of any solid fuel boiler is very much dependent on the quality of the fuel, moreover, it is indicated in the characteristics for coal (heat transfer is the highest on it). Try to throw firewood and the house will immediately become colder, well, and if the firewood is also damp ... In addition, the boiler of greater power will have a larger firebox - which means it will have to be drowned less often.
At all, the need for frequent fuel addition is a common problem for solid fuel boilers. There are several ways to solve it:
- Bunker boilers - they from a separate tank (bunker) automatically “feed up” the firebox.Developed such systems primarily for pellets (fuel pellets), which are very convenient to serve auger, but now there are models that can operate on coal.
- Long burning boilers have an increased volume of loading, and the combustion process itself is not quite common there - the fuel burns from the top down. But they also have their own not always convenient features - we wrote about this higher in the ranking.
But in any case, the “long-playing” boiler will become more difficult and more expensive, especially with a bunker. Then how about combined boiler? In them, heating is provided not only by burning fuel, but also by heating elements installed inside - if the boiler goes out, electricity will continue to maintain at least some temperature. It is convenient to leave such boilers at night - in the morning you will not wake up, feeling that the tooth does not fall into one's teeth. Often for such boilers are offered and sets of additional equipment for gas or diesel. Some models even initially provide for automatic switching to liquid or gaseous fuel, if there is no fire in the firebox. In general, this option is interesting at least in that when the opportunity arises to connect the house to the gas, you do not have to change the boiler, buy a new one, redo the connection: you can simply put the gas burner on the old one.
The important point is heat exchanger design. The ideal option is cast iron: a thick-walled monolithic heat exchanger, if the manufacturer does not “miss” the shells and microcracks in the casting, will be truly eternal, besides, it will withstand the increased pressure without problems. But such a boiler will be more expensive (you can not fit into the budget), and harder (the question of the strength of the floor, you may have to strengthen it). Steel heat exchangers have an inevitable risk of leakage through welding, and the walls are usually thinner. Therefore, it is worthwhile to at least take the boiler heavier, and look at the specific model before buying - it’s true, the reviews themselves have been buying for a long time ... So, you should better choose solid fuels on forums and not on popular sites for reviews that have occupied paid praises.
Enjoy the shopping!
