Septic tanks are of two types. A “normal” septic tank is simple. storage device, which works primarily as a sediment bowl. Plus - absolute simplicity, but his degree of purification is low. At the same time, anaerobic bacteria "work" in septic tanks, which even need not be populated - they get there directly from you. But you can do without aeration, at the same time getting rid of the compressor: and cheaper, and more reliable at first glance. Can be used biofilter - this is either a mesh or a cassette with porous granules. Here, at the same time, the sludge is removed, and the bacteria “live”. One pass of the drain through the filter is not particularly efficient; therefore, recirculation is applied by a special pump.Even if you accidentally pour something vigorous-chemical into the sewage system and arrange a total Holocaust for microscopic coprophiles, at least the mechanical cleaning will remain. The septic tank on the biofilter can be made quite compact. The minus is obvious - the filter is inevitably polluted and requires maintenance, while it is enough to pump out the sludge from the aerator from time to time.
