But we first go through the performance. The screen is relatively large - this is good. But this is a budget TN + film, which is already worse - viewing angles, color rendition especially budget. The cooling system under load copes well, but after a few hours of play, especially in summer, the fans will already be brought out of the limits of acoustic comfort. The laptop battery is sucked up in games for a maximum of a couple of hours, there is no need to talk about serious autonomy. Cheap equipment without SSD noticeably sags in “hard” games in terms of performance during hard disk calls, and this spoils the picture the most. To summarize - the laptop is beautiful, well-assembled and pleasant tactile ... but, alas, in some places too budget.

If we meet “on clothes”, then we clearly have a game series - deliberately chopped lines of the case, red inserts and red lights, plastic textured carbon. Fortunately, the laptop is still not so vyglaglazen as often happens (yes, the author is traditionally infuriated by "game design", as it is usually understood).

Screen - 15.6 inches diagonally with FullHD resolution IPS-matrix. He has good viewing angles, but the lights, like many other "state employees", are blind for bright light. The color rendition, perhaps, is somewhat accentuated - this is often done to emphasize the game "beauty."

To access the drive bay and RAM there are hatches, there is no need to risk a guarantee for the upgrade. And the upgrade does not hurt - only 8 GB of RAM in one bar, the drive is a terabyte HDD paired with the frankly “sickly” 128GB SSD by today's standards.

Stop, but we're talking about a gaming laptop! Yes, alas, the assembly performance is not the best, especially in processor-dependent games - while the battery still withstands just over an hour of play, despite the "economical" processor. So we cut down the processor-specific settings of the games and do not forget the power supply - well, and the laptop itself crawls down the rating, whatever one may say.

It looks, yes, and this notebook weighs impressively, but what about its gaming capabilities? First of all, naturally, it “drags” the GTX 1070 with 8 GB of video memory - games with “heavy” textures do not eat off some of the slower “RAM”, which is also not much (16 GB). However, there are four slots for strips, so there will be no problems with increasing the volume. But the i5-8300H quad-core processor is not enough by today's standards, so the laptop is more suitable for "video-dependent" scripted games, and not for the open-world games with a large number of NPCs (yes, the number of Novigrad residents in settings better limit).

A screen with G-Sync support and an update rate of 144 Hz is undoubtedly good. For games, it is great. Pleases and execution of the case - the laptop is nice just to feel, not to mention the games. But the dimensions, solid by notebook standards, made it possible to install a decent cooling system in performance - the video card can even be overclocked without the risk of critical overheating, which is an excellent indicator. True, the battery charge at the same time ... Well, let's not talk about the bad.

But about the shortcomings still say. The disk subsystem is definitely an upgrade: a 128 GB SSD is not enough. The laptop comes preloaded with Linux, which, despite the improvement of the situation in recent years, still looks funny to the game segment (well, let's not specify where we usually come from in Windows, for which we don’t need to pay extra). With its installation, by the way, will have to tinker.

The new gaming laptop from MSI, of course, is inferior to the more expensive in terms of the “stuffing”, but it can immediately boast a fresh GTC 1660 Ti video card. The older processor is what the model marking hints at - the eight in “8SDK” indicates exactly the eighth generation of Intel, but this made it possible to reduce the price. Saved and on RAM - it is installed only 8 GB, but, unlike the "younger" complete sets of the 8SDK line, it is installed with one bar, not two, that is, you can add a second one and get an acceptable 16 GB, rather than changing both which is more profitable.

A video card with 6 gigabytes of GDDR5 "on board" compared to the old "tenth" series of GTX copes with the loads much better. In fact, the card shows the level of GTX 1070 - and for a laptop is cheaper than 100 thousand, this is very nice.

The island keyboard is traditional for MSI - from SteelSeries, comfortable, with a good tactile response. RGB-backlight flexibly configured for different scenarios. From the "snacks" we note the presence of a network controller Killer and high-quality sound.

The overall impression of the laptop is twofold. On the one hand, he clearly needs at least an increase in RAM for modern games, and the screen could be better. So, do we pay extra only for the "sly" screen on a hinge? Not only. This screen itself with a multi-touch sensor also has 4K resolution - it can unscrew video settings in games even higher ... But only Asus has a better screen, and increasing the load on the video card is ruining the system’s energy balance - here’s only one power supply, 330 W, compared with the total 560 W "Chimera" it looks already not enough. And, frankly, is there any sense in 4K on the screen with a diagonal of 17.3 inches?

In general, the laptop came out controversial, designed more for gadget lovers than for “pure gamers”. Therefore, the first place in the ranking of the best gaming laptops he definitely does not shine.

So, and if we want exactly the same performance, but with normal transportability, that is, with a weight of less than 3 kg? Then we’ll look in the direction of the GS75 Stealth - this laptop is compact enough, it doesn’t suffer from a particular design (stealth), and inside it has all the same i7-8750H and RTX 2080. Plus, 32 GB of RAM, terabytes of solid-state drives, 144-hertz FullHD IPS-matrix. And all this weighs only 2.25 kg, even with the metal case.

But here immediately Winnie the Pooh wakes up in his head, mumbling under his breath "this is not without purpose." How to cool all this? After removing the bottom cover, you can see as many as three fans with a low profile - two are working on a video card, and, fortunately, the air is thrown back, but the third, the processor, drives the air to the right hand. And the video card itself is trimmed by the heat pack (and, accordingly, by power), so in reality, alas, the MSI laptop in games loses to the models that took the first places in the rating. Especially the gap is noticeable in demanding games. But under load, the laptop "eats" only a little more than 200 W, so even with the maximum load on the processor and video card, its battery can last for an hour, and not only will have time to find a free socket (or two - giggle in the direction of "Chimera" from Asus ).

The acoustics also suffered due to the compactness of the case - the speakers, whatever one may say, need a volume. Expectedly particularly affected bass. So how do you want us to load heavy artillery? You have to fork out for good headphones or external acoustics. And the case itself suffered from compactness - it is clearly flimsy. Therefore, above the third place, summing up, we will not put MSI.

The laptop, named after the notorious family of rifles with a butt in the form of ugg, is assembled on the same i7 8750H, but the video card is no longer RTX 2080, but RTX 2070. True, it was not affected by the "circumcision". More frankly, the performance is affected by the fact that only 16 gigabytes of RAM is installed in the laptop - and, alas, the slats occupy both slots, so when upgrading you will have to change both at once.

The screen is made in accordance with the current requirements - high-quality IPS-matrix with high hertska, low response time and one hundred percent coating of the "red-green" range. He's worth his money, but of course he is inferior in terms of brightness and contrast.

Cooling - on two fans, blowing air strictly back. Moreover, two wide heat pipes combine the video card and processor chips and go to both radiators, and the third one is separate for the video accelerator. This improves the heat balance — with a high load on the video accelerator and a low load on the processor, the processor cooling takes over some of the load.
