I will not say that this is the most convenient solution - on the surface, then drips form, leading to the waste of the composition (its benefit is in the packaging of half a liter), then the dust is almost not absorbed into rust. However, when switching to a narrow jet with an Autoprofi transducer, it is possible to get even to very deeply hidden corrosion centers - this is an indisputable plus to the piggy bank.
Given the low price of this rust converter, its composition is simple - basically it is a good old phosphoric acid with a number of additives. Here, the manufacturer clearly turned sour, indicating that after processing it is enough to wipe the surface: we strongly recommend carrying out a full wash with water, preferably with a little addition of soda to effectively quench the acid residues. Nothing supernatural, armed with a brush, you will not see - the rust will not disappear, a layer of zinc will not arise by the wave of a magic wand. Given the fact that it is convenient to apply it on the plane with a spatula, and the applied layer does not flow anywhere, the high price of the paste cannot be considered a serious drawback.
At the same time, the composition works fairly quickly, although the speed has never been the trump card of gel converters (the liquid composition is easier to absorb): the treatment is performed in two layers with a break of 20-30 minutes. There is only one “but” in the list of advantages of Permatex: if you use it before painting the car, the dried layer will still have to be cleaned, with automotive primers its compatibility may turn out to be a lottery. How to choose a rust converter?
Before buying a rust converter, carefully read the description on the package. If you need to treat the surface before painting, choose less concentrated formulations without lubricating components - such converters are used only in the plumbing work to unscrew heavily rusted fasteners!
The compositions that do not require washing are significantly more expensive, but their use will significantly save their time. When processing a large area, aerosol packaging will be most effective, but with point corrosion it is more convenient to work with a brush. But in any case, do not neglect the protection: even a small drop of acid solution can cause serious damage to the eye, while working with aerosols in the fresh air, there is a considerable risk of breathing the “cloud” during an unexpected gust of wind.
