Compared with the old Kicx ICQ 300BA, the subwoofer has changed little in appearance - the same case is a “closed box”, the same 12-inch speaker in appearance. And, alas, the same purely symbolic grill, which practically does not protect the diffuser. However, the speaker is not really the same - sensitivity increased from 89 to 90 decibels, and the internal volume of the subwoofer box increased. The amplifier remained the same - with one hundred and twenty "fair" watts, high-level inputs and, alas, a primitive phase switch without smooth adjustment. If you directly compare the old model (also, by the way, previously included in our rating) and updated, then the “three hundred first” sounds more pleasant - the bass added in density, but did not lose in detail, got rid of excessive sharpness. Of course, the subwoofer never got a special musicality - but in the end, we are talking about a fairly budget model. What to look for when choosing a subwoofer?
Honestly, it is difficult to give specific recommendations when choosing acoustics of any kind - and the design of the speaker, and the method of installation in a particular car have too much influence on the final sound to neglect.
However, keep in mind that the indicated maximum power figures have no direct connection with sound quality, rather, vice versa: these watts rather indicate electrical power of the coil winding and mechanical - suspension, of two subwoofers of equal power, it will always be preferable to have or more speakers, or a loudspeaker of increased diameter - it “digests” the same power with less distortion.
Features of human perception of sound of different frequencies are particularly pronounced in the car, where they face a number of restrictions. If at home you can completely accommodate multi-component acoustics in the front, then there is simply no space in the car for low-frequency acoustics requiring a decent amount behind the speaker, and even installing midbass in the door requires a considerable amount of preparation. Fortunately, hearing localizes to low-frequency sound sources worst of all - therefore, if the tweeter up / down centimeter is already noticeably noticeable, then taking the trunk with the volume of the subwoofer during its normal tuning is possible without noticeable “spreading” the scene in directions (of course, not counting “Purely patsansky” installations, when the subwoofer is brought to the level of the rattle of everything that is possible).
