Top 15 scooters
Owners of cars and SUVs can laugh at the drivers of light motorcycles for as long as they want, overtaking or pressing them to the curb, but only until a small scooter wakes up in a traffic jam while they stand for hours in a traffic jam. It was at such moments that the hasty driver of a steep jeep would happily have exchanged with a driver-scooter driver.
The first "fifty dollars", which gave rise to the now popular class of motorcycles, was released in Italy in 1963 (Vespa 50N). In Russia, the peak of the prevalence of scooters was already at the time of the beginning of the import of used vehicles from Japan and new Chinese scooters - with all their drawbacks, these devices were cheap, did not require rights, were easy to learn. And even now, when the 50-cubic equipment is out of the “disenfranchised” category, and the traditional set of “beer-slaps-scooter” on the roads diminished, popularity with light technology for short trips and “flashing” traffic jams is not lost. The fashion for retro-style did not stand aside: what else should a city hipster ride on, if not on a clone of the original Vespa?
The concept of “scooter” has already gone beyond the scope of this cubage: in the scooter layout, quite serious equipment is produced, comfortable and having good dynamics. Spring is already around the corner, and why not drive a comfortable “stool” into your garage, especially since in 2018 you will definitely have something to choose from?
We note that when compiling the ranking of the best scooters, we faced a clear problem: even before the crisis, it was practically impossible to buy a new Japanese “fifty dollars” from us - dealers didn’t take them because of low demand. With the crisis disappeared from the Russian-language official sites and medium scooters. Therefore, if the “Chinese” in our ranking of the best scooters are represented by new models, then the small and medium equipment from Japan is quite “fresh” scooters imported into Russia already with mileage.

SYM Symphony SR 50
100 000
What is a problem for the “fifty kopeks”? That's right, microscopic wheels for 10-12 inches, which are extremely disliked by road bumps. Well, then the Symphony SR scooter will definitely not disappoint you - the wheels for 16-inch tires will make trips noticeably more comfortable.
The scooter itself looks quite “grown-up” - the unification with the 125-cc model affects. True, the weight is inherited from it the same as the plus and minus - of course, it is hard to write out a “snake” on a 100-kilogram scooter, and the lack of dynamics in comparison with lighter scooters can be felt, but, as Boris Razor said: heaviness is reliability. ” The durable frame of the Symphony SR 50 looks much more convincing than the flimsy designs of various “racers” and their ilk. The brakes are also quite good: the front petal brake disc with a diameter of 226 mm is equipped with a two-piston caliper, the rear one (of the same diameter) is single-piston. Rear shock absorbers - two, which is more reliable, and reduces the “baptism” of the rear axle when the silent blocks wear. Front - a traditional telescopic fork. Suspension, it should be noted, is harsh “from novya” - the calculation is clearly made for a full-fledged two-seat model of a larger cubic capacity, and not for a “fifty-kopeck”, which, according to our traffic regulations, cannot transport passengers anyway. Plastic is noticeably better than usual for cheap Chinese technology: of course, this is not a real endurous body kit, which calmly survives flights and coups, but doesn’t fly away along the whole road from falling from the footboard either. Not bad and analog-digital "tidy" - readable and quite informative, without frank kitsch. I would also like to see the neck of the gas tank not under the saddle - who ever had to spill gasoline while refueling in the luggage space, will understand what we are talking about. The best scooter for the city - you don’t strike a puck on a recumbent (on the past scooter you blew the exhaust pipe off like that), it’s good, it crawls everywhere. |
Sym Jet SportX 50SR
105 000
This model is designed for those who like to drive - it’s not for nothing that a two-stroke motor is used here that can accelerate the scooter quite brightly, even taking into account that it doesn’t weigh a lot (98 kg). On the other hand, overweight is not a minus here - a more durable and rigid frame gives a big plus to safety. Well, and in skillful hands the two-tactic man “extinguishes” easily — there would be a good drill. The standard exhaust is a “saxophone”, in contrast to cheap two-tactics with a “can”, which during tuning would have to be thrown out first.
Both scooter brakes use a hydraulic drive, the front flap disc has a diameter of 160 mm. The rear disc is both simpler and smaller (140 mm), in general they are matched to the weight and speed capabilities of the scooter adequately. Yes, and the suspension is not bad, except for the use of a lateral mono-shock absorber from behind: after all, in our conditions, the suspension with two shock absorbers “lives” longer, and it unloads the silent blocks of the “legs”, eliminating the torque twisting in the transverse plane. Amused dashboard: if you do not have money for a Japanese sport bike, then at least the panel will allow you to imagine that the motor is not under the “fifth point”, but between the legs. Both the tachometer and the speedometer are electronic, realized on a segment liquid crystal display. It seems that there is no reference to any specific motorcycle model, but, looking at it, you certainly begin to scratch your head in the thoughts “I have seen it somewhere”. Is that the highlight it would be worth making it brighter, in the afternoon it does not read as well as we would like. The warranty is provided for two years, but with a limit on the mileage of 10 thousand kilometers. Here, of course, the author himself personally contemptuously writhes (such runs and quietly rolled over the season, albeit on motorcycles), but for a city scooter the figure is, in principle, reasonable. In the future, the problems with the repair should not be expected - the design is not fraught with "surprises" or non-standard design solutions. Main advantages:

KEEWAY Street 50
55 000
What exactly "fifty dollars" will never be much? That's right - the dynamics. Alas, four-stroke low-engined motors do not differ in special nimbleness (but they provide good opportunities for an “imperceptible” increase in cubic capacity, hehe), but two-stroke scooters have always been valued precisely for pickup at the “tops”. Well, a “type of racing” exhaust with a separate “saxophone” resonator on Keeway Street 50 immediately suggests that we are facing a two-stroke player.
Having dimensions normal for a European driver's build, the scooter has good dynamics and loves to turn the engine. Alas, the brakes are significantly worse here than Sym - only a single piston bracket is in front. Certain vatnost in comparison makes lower rating points. Suspension - classic: front "telescope", rear - mono-shock absorber with adjustable preload springs. On the move, Keeway is perhaps more comfortable (special thanks for the wide tires - 130 mm at the rear and 120 mm at the front), but in maneuvering it feels that the Sim has much better torsional stiffness. When the “feet” suspension silent blocks are worn out, it will become even more noticeable. However, in general, the device came out quite decent for its price range - “there are not enough stars”, but it is strong enough, and there are no “smart-minded” parts in it. Well, with the help of Dremel and direct hands, he will also become noticeably "more fun" on the go - so the two-stroke workers have enough of that to refine the cylinders. Main advantages:

ABM Gust S 50
52 000
Hmm ... Somewhere we saw it. The Chinese, represented in Russia by AvtoVeloMoto from St. Petersburg, decided not to rack their brains with the design and carefully copied the famous Yamaha BWs. Well, everything has its advantages - the people “Beavis” and its clones have already been fallen in love at the expense of some “off-road”: no matter how cool you are, our scooters are operated not only on urban asphalt.
In motion, the scooter is driven by a six-wheeled two-stroke player - the motor loves to spin, and for a vehicle that is tempted to jump over bumps, this is only a plus. The main thing is not to confuse it with a four-stroke “just thick”. Not only is the design different (although the Gust S headlights on the headlights are still for beauty), but the wheels are also weaker, and there is no second shock absorber in the rear suspension. Perhaps, if a petal brake disc had been rearranged from it on Gust S (here it is normal), it would have been “the most it”. Main advantages:

Top 50cc Japanese scooters
Honda Zoomer
175 000
In its homeland, Zoomer (aka Ruckus) is already in fact an element of the subculture and one of the most popular youth scooters. If on a Japanese street you see a long and low something on a broad rubber, muttering in a forward flow - then this will be the tuned “Zoomer”. Well, on the basis of interest in Japan in general and in the local auto-mode in particular, the Honda Zoomer scooter will be the best way to stand out with us. In the end, not only for the sake of trips to the store buy scooters.
With "stand out" problems just will not. The extreme minimalism of the design immediately distinguishes the Zoomer from the usual "remnants", and the combination of puffy wheels with a 145-mm clearance is also practical. The AF69E engine is nothing but a four-stroke "edema" with electronic fuel injection capable of spinning up to 8500 rpm ... but, alas, with a speed limit of 60 km / h stitched in the "brains". Problems with access to the motor for maintenance here, you know, no. And everything would be fine, but it slows it down with ordinary drum brakes. No, Japanese logic is sometimes difficult to understand. But, if you are a fan of JDM and “near-JDM” ... Then why have you not bought Zoomer so far? Main advantages:

Suzuki ZZ
65 000
For the unpretentious appearance of this scooter (alas, removed from the release according to the requirements of environmentalists) hides an unexpected agility. Judge for yourself - in the 80-pound scooter there is a 7.2-strong “two-stroke”, which was one of the most powerful among the “fifty dollars” in Japan. Given the compactness and maneuverability of the scooter, this makes it an excellent “plug-in driver”: it will always be able to whip briskly into the open space between the cars (although this will not be approved by the traffic rules). With a sharp unscrewing of the gas, the outwardly peaceful scooter tangibly “kozlit”, especially with the tuning variator - and, you know, tuning parts for this technique are always there, both “inside-country” and more affordable. At a minimum, a regular switch usually always changes, getting rid of the speed limit inherent in it.
The disadvantages stem from the advantages: it is better to keep an eye on the ZZ, not saving on the quality of fuel and oil. But it's worth it. Main advantages:

Honda Jazz / Forza 250
230 000
Here, by tradition, the name is double: a scooter, known in Japan as Forza, was sold in Europe as Jazz.
Practically the “square” MF10E motor (piston stroke only 0.5 mm larger than its diameter) is the best fit for scooters of this type - it spins well and does not lose moment on the “bottoms”. Moreover, he manages to accelerate the 200-pound scooter to 160 km / h - a very solid figure for a modest cubic capacity. Considerable merit in this belongs to well-thought-out aerodynamics - low frontal resistance not only allows accelerating and saving fuel faster, but also encloses the driver in a kind of “cocoon”. The owner of Forza will definitely not have any complaints about “something blowing” if it has less than 120 kilograms. An interesting feature of the scooter is the ability to switch “virtual gears” on the variator: if you don’t perceive scooters as a matter of fact for not having the ability to click on the gears, Forza will be able to reconcile you a little. Add a plus and for security: ABS appeared here in the early 2000s. And the brakes themselves are not bad - the front three-piston bracket Nissin clings "five", providing transparent feedback. Since 2007, set the combined brake system. However, tuning can not be done without the traditional for these cubicures: well, the Japanese like to put overly soft springs in the plug, with the regular ones with hard braking the scooter literally "nodding". Another “trick” of the model is the presence of a built-in multimedia system: before Forza, it was only the top models of max-scrammers that flaunted it. And the "music" is very good here, we note. Suzuki Burgman / Skywave 250
170 000
Almost the youngest in the Burmans line (Skywave) is one of the most popular mid-size scooters in Europe and Japan. Comfortable seats for the driver and passenger, effective windscreen - what else is needed for a leisurely journey?
The engine is single-cylinder, with fuel injection. You should not worry about reliability: it is enough to change the oil in time and maintain the air filter. 23 “horses” confidently take out the driver with the passenger, who has not forgotten to load the rather bulky trunk with belongings. Of course, the owners of max-scooters and motorcyclists are now scornfully grimacing, but there is enough power for many.You can drive a scooter up to 140 km / h, but with a practically chopper fit, it somehow does not pull. The brake system is combined, that is, when braking with the rear brake lever, one of the pistons in the front caliper is also activated. For beginners, middling scooters are a good solution - getting used to using the “fifty kopeck” brake on the rear axle to avoid pecking the primitive fork, here the beginner will be safer as the braking distance is reduced compared to rear wheel braking without a combined system. Yamaha NMAX 150
262 000
Scooter especially urban, compact, narrow and nimble - narrow streets, flashing traffic jams, overloaded parking will be his element. Already in the standard, an effective ABS system has been introduced, which is rare for this class - and no, it is not “supposedly ABS”, which can be seen on Chinese scooters. There it is - just a reducing valve, dropping pressure in the brake circuit when it exceeds a predetermined threshold, so that on a slippery road "decompose" it does not hurt. Yamaha also fully controls the speed of the front and rear 230-mm brake discs, not allowing them to go skidding on any surface.
The engine of the scooter, belonging to the “energy-saving” Blue Core line, has an almost “square” dimension of 58x58.7 mm, and does not fold at the bottoms, and does not choke to the tops, even though only one upper camshaft is used. Cooling - liquid, effectively coping with its task even in the heat when driving "to the fullest." The engine, as laid down in the very idea of Blue Core, is very economical - it “eats” 2.4 liters of fuel per “hundred”, less than fifty dollars of Vespa! The chassis, assembled from thin-walled pipes, due to the competent design of the spatial structure, has received good rigidity, this is also hinted at by the "hump" of the central tunnel. In turns, the scooter does not “baptize”, clings tenaciously to the asphalt and retains the predictability of control. And, if we take into account 11 “horses”, a smooth torque curve and a well-tuned CVT, it drives us to drive on it. Main advantages:

SYM JOYRIDE 200i EVO
220 000
Of course, the Sino-Taiwanese brand is hard to fight with the Japanese. But they are obviously striving for this: in the Sym model lineup, there are already 600-cubic “maxiki”, but the Joyride model now flaunts fuel injection, which has replaced the old carburetor.
The engine, however, with a small “snag” - its real volume is 175 cc, not a full-fledged 200. But at the cylinder there is a nickle covering and water cooling - if not “to beat” the oil in the engine, it passes for a very long time. Power - 16 "horses", which is not bad for a scooter, which is not so large in size. For a city, this combination of size and dynamic capabilities is very well suited. The design of the brakes is a bit unconventional: the front disc is attached to the wheel hub not by the inner diameter, but by the outer diameter. However, this is not reflected in the effectiveness of the brakes either in the plus or in the minus; Conveniently organized luggage compartment under the saddle: it leans not forward, but to the side, so that it does not have to keep from constant attempts to fall. Best Maxiscooter
Honda Silver Wing
650 000
If the “Gold Wing” (Honda Gold Wing) is rightfully considered the king of luxury touring motorcycles, the Silver Wing is uniquely claiming the throne in the kingdom of maxiscooters. The 50-strong two-cylinder engine here is perfectly coordinated with the settings of the transmission, and the designers thought about the convenience of the driver and passenger almost first of all: all you have to do is turn the key to the start and choose the speed to your liking. In this case, the motor is not at the same time part of the pendulum, which best affects the operation of the rear suspension: the unsprung masses have been significantly reduced.
What else might you need to travel? Big trunk! And with this you will definitely not get lost by choosing Silver Wing - by the volume of luggage space this max-scooter has been leading in its class since the creation of the first generation. The manufacturer has not forgotten about safety either - Nissin combined tenacious brakes (two three-piston calipers in front) with a “kombibreyk” and ABS, perfectly luminous headlights (by the way, the power of the 450 W generator allows lighting tuning if you often roll in the evenings). A rigid frame with a ridge in a tunnel does not make one nervous when maneuvering and abrupt braking. In a word, having introduced the notion of a “luxury max-scooter” 18 years ago, Honda continues to hold the bar, and it's still not easy for competitors to compete with Silver Wing. Main advantages:

Yamaha TMAX DX
936 000
Now the sixth generation of the top scooter from Yamaha is on the market, and, of course, with the current prices this technique is an amateur: to give almost a million for a luxury “stool” in the maxi format, only a true fan of max-scooters will decide.
But, of course, the scooter is good even externally - it’s not for nothing that this model received the Red Dot Award last year: Product Design for its exterior. The scooter was stuffed with the elements of comfort, even the windshield is regulated by a servo drive - well, and the heating of the handles and the seats in the basic configuration naturally goes without saying. The luggage compartment, as befits a “maxiku”, is quite a lot - for example, two helmets integrals easily fit into it. The gain in volume is achieved by the horizontal layout of everything and everything — not only the two-cylinder engine, but also the shock absorber “laid” parallel to the ground. By the way, about the engine. It is very interesting, combining chetyrehklapannye heads with overhead camshafts, which promises good "breathing" at high speeds, with a long-stroke layout (piston diameter - 68 mm, stroke - 73 mm). As a result, he pulls perfectly already from the bottom, fully “waking up” after 5000 rpm, when the moment reaches 53 N * m. Even with a passenger (and better, of course, with a passenger) and a fully stuffed trunk, the acceleration goes smoothly, without failures and jerking. Another feature of the engine is dry sump lubrication, which made it as flat as possible. And the list of technologies implemented in the engine management system is more appropriate for a sportbike - here both traction control, engine mode switching, and even the YCC-T system, which was originally developed for the erok sports line, was taken directly from the sportbike. Using the Smart Key is another lazy assistant; now, to turn off the anti-theft system, it is enough to go to the scooter just by keeping the keys in your pocket.The anti-theft, by the way, even blocks the central tripping, not allowing just to remove the scooter from it and roll into a secluded place. True, a self-respecting motor-thuger still has a skateboard in stock ... The suspension and brakes didn’t pump up either - the front “Changeling” has a stroke of 120 mm, which is not bad for scooter crawlers, it has good characteristics of stiffness and damping. The rear suspension is only 3 mm short, the lever system implements a progressive response. For braking at the front there are two discs with a diameter of 267 mm, the rear axle “precipitates” a 282-mm disc. The scooter is quite economical - a fifteen-liter gas tank is enough for 300-350 km, depending on driving style. So TMAX DX can be fully used in travels - of course, purely asphalt and on normal roads, this is not a tourist enduro. Main advantages:

A scooter is not necessarily an inexpensive and / or practical vehicle for the city. For some, this is also a full-fledged image accessory, it is not for nothing that the popularity of retro-style is growing and even has reached the Chinese factories. Well, what could be "retro" than the good old Vespa? The very name Verde of this scooter clearly refers us to Italy. And, although it cannot be called a copy of the Vespa, it undoubtedly represents a magnificent stylization for the sixties technique: the difference is striking only close by, plastic panels imitate even stamping on the metal of scooters more than half a century ago. According to the canons of those times and design: two-stroke air cooling, lever fork, drum brakes. But given the fact that Verde is both lighter and more powerful than Italian classics, it will fit better into modern urban realities. Best European 50cc scooters
Vespa Primavera 50 S
279 000
The legendary Italian brand, as an example to other "Europeans", is officially represented in Russia. So a new Vespa can be taken for a test drive, and there will be no problems with the guarantee. Of course, they don’t call the price of a “fifty-fifty” democratic (for the same money, Yamaha, for example, offers a much more sophisticated model of a scooter with a working volume three times larger), but in the end, for Vespa scooter drivers "Lake" for photographers: what is worth one name! And, whatever one may say, it was this brand that the first scooters carried on themselves, which began to drive on the roads of post-war Italy, and from there conquered the whole world. The new Vespa diligently continues the classic style set by the “same” model, which, by the way, also had its clone (“Vyatka”) in our Soviet realities. Given the current retro-style fashion, get an open helmet, comb a beard, tuck up your pants ... Stop, not only hipsters ride Vespes, in fact. But inside modern “Wasps” (this is how Vespa is translated from Italian) have gone very far from the original model. The engine is now a four-stroke fuel injection with a three-valve head and a catalyst on release.Peaks and power, and torque are at one point - 7500 r / min, the scooter accelerates perfectly, without losing the "bottom" and not "dull" after approaching the speed to the maximum. One liter of fuel will be enough for him for 30 kilometers, so the eight-liter tank will not have to be opened often. A characteristic feature of the Vespa from 1946 to this day is the cantilever front-wheel suspension, as well as the steel welded monocoque bearing body instead of the tubular frame. Of course, at first glance this does not look very reliable, but do not forget - it was with such a “wrong” fork that the brand shone in sports, where the requirements for torsional rigidity are much higher than for urban “pokatushki”. But on what other scooter can you change the front tire, even without removing the wheel? The only thing you can regret is that the drum brake is still installed from behind. Anyway, now even the budgetary “Chinese” use both disc brakes and hydraulics “in a circle”. But for some reason, I still want to forgive this scooter - that’s what charisma is. Main advantages:

Peugeot Speedfight 4
125 000
Let the “lion” of the French triad is better known for its cars, but Peugeot is one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. As for the third-generation Speedfight, this is one of the most popular urban scooters in Europe, and such recognition is worthy of respect.
Unfortunately, we will have to look for it on the secondary market: the French market is not interested in low-technology equipment to the French, the “official” Peugeot does not import scooters. Therefore, the latest generation of Speedfight 4 in Russia will be very difficult to find, and we have included the “top three” in the rating of the best scooters - since the announcement of this model in 2009, they have fallen into our country enough. The “stuffing” of a French scooter, which even now does not seem outdated in design, immediately catches the eye - for example, the openwork front brake disc works in tandem with a monoblock radial brace, as if we have a sport bike, and this is all suspended on a strong inverted fork. Motors, fortunately, were developed at a time when European ecologists had not hung over low-maintenance motorcycles - it is carburetor, easy to maintain. In the line of "fifty dollars" there were three of them - two two-stroke with air and water cooling, one "air" four-stroke. So a fan will find his option, and who wants to just economically move around the city. The scooter’s gas tank moved under its feet - this, of course, required the introduction of a fuel pump into the design, but it significantly increased the amount of luggage, which is only a plus for the compact “fifty dollars”. In general, we summarize: if you happen to stumble on such a scooter, and its condition will be satisfied, then such a purchase can not be called vain. The model came out very successful, and its design to this day is more than relevant. Main advantages:

Which scooter is better to buy?
When choosing the best scooter, first of all you should answer a few questions in order not to be disappointed in your “iron friend”:
- the purpose of the acquisition;
- operating conditions (city or countryside);
- single or with passenger seat;
- engine capacity;
- budget.
Despite the common name “scooters”, the equipment of this class is very versatile. By the way, the choice between a used Japanese model and a new Chinese one is not always unequivocal.
Let's start with "Fifty dollars" - in their assets the most simple obtaining rights, do not need insurance and inspection. If the extremely limited dynamic capabilities of the four-stroke workers of this volume suit you, then the fuel consumption per season will be scanty. The two-tactic will be faster, but the appetite will increase accordingly. Let's not forget about the possibility of “almost legal” tuning with an increase in the working volume, which actually takes the 50-cc scooter to the category of full-fledged scooters - here the four-tactics clearly lead.
However, the choice here is small - either “Chinese” (including half-dead scooters “from hands” almost at the price of a couple of bottles), or “Japanese” thoroughly battered by time. Both those and others have a difficult resource to predict - the quality of spare parts due to the traditional lottery, the second because of the turbulent biography (many scooters have long passed the threshold of majority). Of course, spare parts for Chinese scooters are in bulk, but even the Delphic Oracle does not foresee compatibility: buying a cylinder for the same 139QMBYou can never be sure that it will fit on YOUR 139QMB.
Cubicures higher - this is already a registration, and numbers, and insurance ... but where the best dynamics are, and what else is there - just the opportunity to get behind the wheel of people “more than average” normally. And the dispute "new Chinese-old Japanese" here is much sharper. The Japanese scooter of this class will already be suitable for long journeys, comfortable, incomparably more reliable, if it is chosen by a knowledgeable person. The Chinese will remain a lottery, the top Chinese models are far from cheap.
In the segment maxiscooters it’s still difficult to argue with the Japanese neighbors - of course, they are trying, but so far the popularity of “Silver Wing” or “Burgman” is hard to shake: they require comfort, reliability and, what’s there, a certain status in motorcycle driving, which is badly associated with brands like GuanLiao Motors.
