Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR Reviews

Virtues

  • High rate of 16 frames / sec. Large zoom, Mechanical, not electric zoom. Folding screen Comfortable to hold in your hand. Video quality.

disadvantages

  • The matrix is noisy. Inconvenient connection of digital zoom. Inconvenient mode several frames in one frame The hardware rangefinder sometimes misses at infinity.

Comment
This model is purchased to replace the finepix HS10. Old glitches fixed. Now the device does not reset the settings when viewing frames and when turning off. Brand battery will take the disadvantages. Standard batteries are more convenient. The HS10 model retained a series of shots for a very long time, the new model of the series is saved instantly. For disadvantages, see above. The device is satisfied, except for the noise of the matrix.

Virtues

  • + The indisputable advantage of these Fujifilm models is of course the mechanical zoom ring like a DSLR camera, i.e. the speed at which the object is magnified depends on you, you wanted — they instantly increased the fast-moving object, and they wanted and made a slow influx in the video.I do not understand why in Panasonic and Canon, and in all the other ultrazoom do not do mechanical zoom control.
  • + Another advantage of this model is quite fast autofocus. It was already quite fast in the HS30, and in this model it was further improved by adding phase autofocus.
  • + Another plus is the abundance of manual settings.
  • It would seem that shooting in the RAW format is a definite plus, but this is not the case. I tried to process many photos of the X-S1, HS20 and HS30 with Silkipix, but all I received were only noise and lack of detail, and I even it seemed that using RAW processing it was not possible to achieve the same result as in Jpeg.
  • + I am glad that there is a connector for an external flash.
  • + A huge 42X zoom range and good aperture values, and the ability to attach a 2.2X teleconverter Rainox to it, which will make your focal length equal to 2200 mm in 35mm eq. as if you were shooting with a zoom of 92x at full resolution.
  • + Expanded ISO up to 12800 (although it's funny)
  • + The presence of a large number of add. accessories.
  • + Full HD video with stereo sound (well, on the other hand, where is it not now?)
  • + Good multishot 5 frames are shot at 11 frames per second, i.e. 5 frames in 0.5 seconds, although of course a series of 5 frames is very small, worse than that of competitors
  • + It is possible to shoot video at speeds of 120, 240 and 480 frames per second, but with a lower resolution.
  • I will not mention about all sorts of children's functions such as HDR, MFNR, auto panoramas, etc. The bottom line is that all these functions work at 3 points maximum and half of them are not needed if there is a normal RAW or when processing in Photoshop.
  • Talking about a larger matrix is useless, because its effect 0

disadvantages

  • The main and perhaps almost the only drawback is the one for which we buy photo equipment - picture quality. I must admit that, as it seemed to me, the HS30 had even better quality, it had less noise, and in the HS50 there was noise everywhere, there was always noise :( It’s a pity, apparently the sensor upgrade with phase autofocus only aggravated the quality of the photos. The photos became loose, noisy I’m afraid to imagine what is going on in RAW during processing, there’s probably a muddy, noisy rectangle on the screen in the editor, so the presence of RAW doesn’t really give you anything.

Comment
When buying a camera, first of all, think about what you want from him and at what price. If you want to have just a good camera for a little money and the main thing is the quality of the image, then you better look at mirrorless cameras, for example, the Panasonic G3-it now costs about 10-13t.r. And the quality of photos will be incomparably higher.
If you need a huge increase for little money, but you are not going to shoot a sporting event (because electric motors in all ultrazoom are too slow for this, they will not give you the opportunity to jump from wide angle to body in a second), then you can safely take Canon sx40, sx50 (to them, if anyone does not know, they have their own firmware, which allows 40-shke to record RAW (in the 50-tk it already exists) and greatly expand the capabilities of cameras), or take a Panasonic FZ150, it is not so expensive, like the 200th, but the image quality is much better than 100 and 38, and speed and the best at all on par with the 200 Coy. I do not advise taking Sony ultrazoom, there are a lot of megapixels and zero quality
If you need super-speed and super-autofocus for little money, then take Nikon1 or J or V, their quality and speed is much higher than that of ultrazoom, but lower resolution is 10 megapixels, but it is enough to print A3 even with ISO200-400.
BUT! If you need a huge, mechanical zoom for sports shooting and fast enough autofocus, and the quality of the pictures satisfies you at the level of prints in 10X15, 15X20, A4 format, you can safely take the HS50, the main thing is not to overpay for the just announced superphoto, it’s better to wait , until prices fall on it, read more reviews about it and only then buy. In my opinion, it costs no more than 12-15 thousand.in view of the very low image quality compared to competitors, you’re not only buying a large zoom, but also being able to get the quality of the picture corresponding to its advertising (and here marketers specifically deceive you). If in doubt between the HS30 and 50, then the 30 has better quality.

Virtues

  • Conveniently sits in your hand, good photos and videos, many modes for creativity. Really fast focus. Good zoom. There were enough batteries for 460 photos + several small video clips, although it was not 100% charged. An excellent viewfinder, a clear display. And of course the mechanical zoom ring is super.

disadvantages

  • Perhaps too heavy (but this is probably nagging). The videos are good (although I expected more). Price. The menu is a bit confusing for me, I haven't used Fuji before. And yet it would be a good alternative to power from the usual finger (dream) batteries, and then sat down and everything - to the house before the outlet.

Comment
I photographed myself and my wife and children, in different modes (only in the RAW have not tried yet) out of 460 photos in the trash about 130, and of them through the fault of the camera about 20 (taking the rest), in my opinion very well. About 50 photos were taken with a friend (from one point at the same time on the car) - he has HS30, and in my collection turned out to be more good shots, so the statement of the previous author - that 30-ka makes pictures of better quality, to put it mildly, not quite right. The camera is 2 days old, happy as an elephant, well, and fast focusing is a song, then we will see if any shoals come out.

Virtues

  • Ohhhh, sooo much of them! I will try to list at least the most delicious ...:
  • 1_transfer. 42x, or 24-1000mm in equ-FF
  • 2_DD as if hard for fans of FF cameras it did not sound, but the age of their monsters is coming to an end. And if at dusk and at night the sensor is still weak, then it can surpass 600D during the day, and even 70D by some parameters!
  • 3_intellectual zoom - and in fact - a digital imitation of the use of a teleconverter! There are even gradations like on TC - 1.4x and 2x.
  • 4_stage in the menu. And unlike the earlier models, the original is not overwritten! The power of the PC - 5-7x! In all cases, digital zoom is performed with maximum preservation of image details.
  • 5_intellectual exposure meter. You are given the possibility of some sort of overexposure of the scene, but you cannot prohibit the exorbitant parameters. If, when setting the shutter speed, you rested for example at 2 seconds, then this simply means that the cybersource considered further extension not advisable.
  • 6_II. For my rather rather small practice in the field of photography, this is the first camera with which you need ... to talk. The intelligence of the firmware is simply amazing! This is not just a stupid mechanism for making nishtyak-photos - this is an employee! And the employee is very talented and gifted.
  • 8_COLOR. This is something beyond all imaginable !!! If Fujis could make these colors on Croppa 5.2 ... So what will they create on Croppas 1.6? !!
  • 10_MONITOR high contrast and swivel. Just not touch.
  • 11_AVTOFOKUS. At Kenon, the hybrid AF appears only in 70D. And according to my data, it strongly depends on the class of the lens ... This AF should be thrown out into a squirrel - this should be specially tried !!!
  • 12_ Many infuriates the very presence of a crop index. I understand that large (geometrically and megapixels) sensors work through DD better ... They also noticeably surpass the crops in the detailing of small objects in the frame ... But there is one BUT: 3.5 diaphragms at night at infinity on the FF camera and on the crochet 5.2 are two completely different pictures. And unfortunately for fans of DSLRs does not win a mirror!
  •
  • About this camera and its goodies you can write war and peace! There's a lot of stuff stuffed there. The camera needs to dig. Dig long and hard.

disadvantages

  • Only two:
  • 1_for such a candy - the sensor is criminally weak!
  • 2_Video is superb in quality !!! The picture at the level of superprof camcorders costing under half a million tanks !!! Believe me - IT IS NECESSARY TO SEE !!! Stereo sound with incredible sensitivity, windscreen and noise reduction! But miracles do not happen.Miracles - in the church. In real life - they are impossible in principle.
  • The downside of a great video ...
  • That's right - MONEY BITRATE !!! This is unbelievable, but this camera writes video as a proxy from the channel RUSSIA-1 and with a bitrate comparable to a good licensed database! He does not need a memory card but a screw !!! There is only one single card that can drive such streams to write ... But at the time of writing this review, it costs from 3,500 to 7,000re!
  • Workflow data at 1080p - 35 megabits.
  • Ie need at least 60 to write!

Comment
Purchase date - April 19th of this year. In fact - I'm still in the excavation stage. But it is already clear: Fujifilm has created an atomic bomb! They have sensors with a cropping index of 1.6 and 51200po ISO. Docking this and that is not so difficult for the global leader of the photo industry ...
Now imagine what happens at the exit!
Add here the fact that Fuji has a 1.6 sensor in the class at least not inferior to the Canon 1Dx sensor! I saw a photo from a compact with this sensor - they are CRYSTALLY CLEAN! And DD just kills on felling!
the sun sets in the west Indian llamas as always right.
The camera, which is now to my right, is the prototype of the cameras of the future. And the future is not so distant.
And I'm not sure that there is a place for mirrors in this future. FF - this is not necessarily a SLR!

Virtues

  • Manual zoom. The ability to control the servo ring by manual focusing. PIKING! ! ! To help manual focus. Fast auto-focus with good lighting, and not only. Excellent optics! General ergonomics ala-mirror. Long-lasting battery. There is enough for 600-700 shots (without flash). A rotatable and high-quality display in its class. Quality in its class electronic viewfinder! With the display of all current settings as on the main display. Fn button to which you can assign the necessary function of the quick parameter from personal preferences (I set the ISO). Which is associated with the frame deletion system but only when viewed. The new generation matrix is like the EXR II processor itself .And much more.

disadvantages

  • small matrix.

Comment
For all the indignant .... Either you really got the curve of the apparatus, or the curve is no longer the apparatus! Everything is good in it except for the small size of the matrix. That’s the only thing that doesn’t allow framing. The whole result, when you understand this device and use it correctly, makes it possible to make an excellent picture. They say that you need to grow to a mirror device. I want to say that some people should be to grow. The device is EXCELLENT! just learn how to use it!
