Nikon Df SLR Reviews
Virtues
- I switched to this camera from the D300 in order to get a full and more sensitive matrix. The first was implied a priori, the second was fully justified. The picture on ISO 1600 as on D300 at ISO 400, respectively, when shooting with a flash, its charge is well saved. Almost all the necessary buttons are made on the body. The menu is familiar.
disadvantages
- Rather nagging:
- no built-in flash
- the lack of a protective screen - solved this problem with a sticker of protective film
- inconvenient to turn on the power button and auxiliary control dial with one finger, but you can get used
- the first time you tried to shoot an HDR image was superimposed obliquely, you really need to shoot from a tripod or add frames in programs designed for this purpose
- no autofocus backlight
Comment
Camera for those who like to think before they shoot.

Virtues
- Matrix. This camera uses a matrix from the flagship Nikon D4, for the sake of it and bought. This matrix has a very high working iso with a minimum level of noise, which allows you to take shots where you already use tripods and flashes.
- Convenient management. Everything important is taken out on the case and is at hand with protection against accidental switching by special clamps.
- Dimensions and weight. This is the smallest camera of their full-frame, which I just saw.
disadvantages
- Autofocus is used from Nikko 600go, which sometimes misses. Tests have shown that it smears infrequently, but the autofocus of the same Nikon 810 is clearly better.
- Lens in Kit-kit. Better buy 50 / 1.4G + black carcass. Photos will be clearly of better quality than from the KIT ligament.
- And finally, the camera is not very comfortable grip.
Comment
Camera pleased.A great option for those who love to always have a camera with them - it is small and light. And it also takes pleasure not from taking it and taking it off (the camera has no auto mode), but from the process of taking pictures. At the same time a bonus is attached to the camera in the form of excellent frames in low light conditions, which 750 and 800-810 cameras cannot boast.

Virtues
- Nikon D4 matrix, high sensitivity, full frame, support for all lenses that didn’t have time to fall apart and rust, rigid design, moderate rate of fire, good viewfinder, camera not for beginners, convenient and visual control, convenient resolution, no competitors and similar models
disadvantages
- Hipster design, annoying seams on the body, silvery visible in the crowd, price
Comment
The camera does not have auto mode, which is extremely correct - some cameras just have to be professional, and not just look like them. Styling in the old style will make it the lot of hipsters, and therefore it will quickly be removed from sale, as unsuccessful. Meanwhile, all that is needed in it is: a wonderful matrix. The autofocus is from the D7000, narrow across the field of view, but sufficient, considering the lock and pre-focus buttons. Tracking is, firm reliable Nikon. You quickly get used to the camera, and then you wonder “how I used to try to strangle myself in ISO 3200 in a dark room” when you can live outside of this perception. Fast focusing didn’t surprise me at all - standard for Nikon, works great in the dark, which is justified, given the capabilities of the matrix. But the 50-mm lens, sold in the kit - a weak likeness of lenses of the last century, just a stylized standard half a hundred bucks more expensive. The camera has no competitors or analogs - with a little humor it would be possible to pull up the Sony a7, but those two models are made for amateurs, while this one is absolutely professional (works correctly, focuses, does not suffer from falls, does not freeze, although it’s cold frost), which can be seen on the management features.

Virtues
- Excellent image quality. Great design (in my black version). Created both externally and internally for its intended purpose - photographing (a carefully thought-out control system, high-quality assembly, no video shooting). Fully allows almost any modern Nikon lens, unlike the D800. Silent matrix - today the leader among 35mm cameras. The excellent screen is bright, detailed, with the correct color reproduction, unlike the D800.
disadvantages
- Perhaps the disadvantages can be attributed perhaps uncomfortable grip (I think to solve with a cover or some other gadget), I think that this fact does not detract from the merits of this camera. I can't include the price here, since I consider this quality justified.
Comment
The first experience with Nikon in the form of d800 did not give the desired result and even disappointed, the transition to Df put everything in its place. The best part is that the excellent modern Nikon optics (I mean mostly the G series) is sharpened just under this unit, with its correct number of pixels for a 35mm camera. Well - an excellent tool for the photographer - I highly recommend!

Virtues
- Gorgeous matrix. ISO 3200 is 100% working, 6400 is tolerable noise (even without including the built-in noise suppressor). And this gives +4 steps from the standard 200 units (that is, the use of a teleconverter without a tripod becomes really possible in any weather). Weight and dimensions of the camera. Dual control of the main settings is constructively logical, verified by mechanical over the decades and has already become customary electronic disk-menu.
disadvantages
- With pleasure (even to the detriment of low weight) I would prefer a full metal case. Ideally, the Df stuffing in the D700 case ;-))).
Comment
The picture is great. Autofocus is fast and reliable. Only some frivolous lightness of the plastic case adds a spoonful of tar - more like the solidity of the D200 - D700.
Was with a camera in Prague on May. Great machine. The first day and evening the weather let us down - light rain, gray sky, a bit dark. I shot at ISO 800, sometimes leaving at 1600. Excellent shots, no noise. The picture is very lively, not hard. The color rendition is warm, very similar to the ancient CCD matrix from Nikon (D40-D200). Excellent dynamic range. Even relatively ruined frames are pulled out by photoshop in terms of light without any light distortion. In general, the further I use it, the more I fall in love with it.
If funds allow, take it. I am sure that you will not regret. I will not say about whale glass - I have my own park, verified and selected over the years.
