Reviews of the Pentax K-3 SLR

Virtues

  • Below is all the details from the heart painted

disadvantages

  • I would like cheaper, but in general the price is more than adequate

Comment
What can I say ... really top among the whole crop. Something in which the camera can and with full-frame models of competitors, in something close to them. I just do not know that it can be further improved (in the sense of about enticing the matrix to 24 * 36 mm), well, except that the autofocus - to make it really predictive. Rico-Pentax engineers made a really new camera, but in the spirit of the K-7 / K-5 / K-5II line - the control is just perfect in my opinion; the shutter is simply a masterpiece - 8.3 fps and SILENT; the viewfinder is excellent - light, large, but matting allows the use of manual glasses; ergonomics such that the camera (like the K-5II) builds into my hand - everything is where it should; the quality of the case is traditionally excellent AT ALL no claims; metering and auto white balance are just freaky - keep the picture dug in, even in an exhibition with completely different light sources; 2 flash drives - great, finally done; The matrix is good, but I'm used to the 16 megapixel, which is in K-5II. And all this in a really compact package with dust and moisture protection! Tell me another modern system (which does not start on “Ley” and ends in “ka”), in which there is a brutally stuffed strong camera and a 50 / 1.2 lens that fit into the pocket of a winter jacket? And I went and shot in the sleet in the evening in the native city of Glazov, and believe me, it was both aesthetic pleasure and several pieces of “masterpieces”. Pentax is a VERY pleasant-to-use technician, you use it and you understand that it was made by ENGINEERS, and not by marketers.
I can recommend the camera to advanced and not very amateurs, as well as pros, who want quality and tired of carrying kilograms of glass and iron - to those who need something special and interesting, but at the same time very high quality. Well, not everyone wants to take the camera "like everyone else" of one of the 2-3 most famous photo brands, they are big and the optics for them are also big and heavy. And Pentax optics is usually compact, but at the same time very high quality.

Virtues

  • The best detail images, the absence of an anti-alias filter, internal stabilization.

disadvantages

  • Incomplete settings when shooting video, hot shoe with offset lock.

Comment
The camera is worth the money. In comparison with a full staffing camera, it makes sense to think about the K-3 because the dynamic range of the camera, ergonomics and built-in stabilization with moisture protection roll up to use the camera in difficult weather conditions!

Virtues

  • Easy to manage, many different functions.

disadvantages

  • Sometimes there are failures in work that are treated by switching off.

Comment
Filmed while not much. Compared with the K-5, the device feels much better. I liked the ability to customize HDR, and when converting from RAW to JPEG. And, of course, video features. For a long time I could not understand why in HD video mode there is an HDR item, but it is not available. It turned out that it is available during interval shooting (not yet verified).

Virtues

  • Moisture protection, dust protection, frost protection.
  • Optomechanical smoothing filter that can be turned on or off
  • Work with wi-fi and flu memory cards
  • A lot of settings to control video recording
  • Ergonomics is beyond praise
  • Shooting frequency up to 8.3 fps

disadvantages

  • I have not identified

Comment
Regarding the closest competitors in terms of price with full-frame matrices, the camera is much stronger: color rendition, ergonomics, a huge fleet of lenses, and protection from virtually any interference of nature.

Virtues

  • - Working ISO 3200. Maybe with 6400 too.
  • - Fast, accurate AF
  • - BB auto proved to be not bad
  • - 24 Mpx
  • - The case is dustproof and waterproof
  • - 2 memory card slots

disadvantages

  • The price is not small
  • After shooting, there is no exposure info on the screen. I used to see it right away.
  • On the second day it is frozen. The on / off button did not help. But maybe the memory card failed.

Comment
The choice was between Pentax K-3 and Canon 6D. Canon of course attracted full frame, but had previously been the owner of Canon. I wanted a new one. Pentax does an excellent job on ISO 3200, I don’t know yet how it will show itself in higher numbers, but this is already quite enough.
Do I need FF? I want to, but I do not know ... to each his own. AF is fast and accurate. I can't say anything about video filming, because I have not tried it and it does not interest me at all. I need a photo! Auto BB usually behaves correctly, but sometimes there are mistakes, you have to manually set or edit in the editor, which is done without any problems!
