This is my fifth laptop in the last 10 years. I carefully chose all the previous ones to suit my requirements and enjoyed using them ... Three of them are still alive. And now delight my loved ones.
DELL XPS 13 attracted its design and ergonomics: nice to see and especially to take in hand. The sturdy case and high-quality design instill reliability. Specifications at the level and c reserve cover my requirements. We were pleased with a large number of pleasant and non-obvious trifles that do not open immediately, but gradually ... Dell designers and designers thought a little ahead and every time you find such a chip, it becomes pleasant that not only your expectations but also what you get more than expected. I will hope that this laptop will live with me for a long time and will delight as well as the previous ones.

The previous laptop was a Dell V13 - after it the XPS 13 seems to me a step forward in design and sideways in usability, so to speak.
Of course, some of the drawbacks are obvious before the purchase and you internally put up with them - that is, you are morally preparing for the lack of Ethernet and an insufficient number of ports. The keys are also understandable, already almost used to Home clamping Fn, but this is still a little annoying.
What is really sad is heating and noise. V13 lived quietly on his knees - here it creates a certain discomfort. Maybe i5 is cooler (I have i7), but nonetheless.
When using a processor anywhere from 25%, the fan is at least MI-8. Flashing the BIOS, alas, did not remove the problem.
The power plug constantly drops out - the socket is loose, the plug is not angular, the hook is light - and now you are in energy-saving mode. They stuck back, the mode switched - and the backlight did not return! To poke into the backlight keys is useless - the laptop believes that it is at its maximum. It is necessary to climb into the windows settings and pull the slider, and with decreasing the backlight recalls that it is not at all at the maximum, and the brightness increases.
The touchpad on the V13, although less able, but it was much more predictable.
What I want to point out from the positive is that my top configuration (software engineer) is enough for my eyes and ears. True, modern games, of course, will not work. The design and build quality is beyond praise, a pleasure to hold, a pleasure to use. Excellent keyboard backlight (two levels of brightness) - but - attention - not in all trim levels, be sure to check. Good keys.

Very thin and compact, well-made (materials: aluminum, magnesium alloy, carbon, glass), almost silent (even under load). Power is enough for the eyes (I have on i-5 with a hard at 256), thanks to the SSD, very fast system loading and work. The buttons of the keyboard are very pleasantly pressed, it is also waterproof, the work of its backlight is interesting - it turns on automatically depending on the lighting, by the way, the screen brightness also changes (there is a light sensor in the upper frame). There is a built-in Wi-fi transmitter - you can organize your network without a router, though there is no RJ-45 input - you need an adapter.
Conclusion: one of the best options for those who primarily use the laptop on trips, traveling and who do not bother the lack of familiar inputs and drive.

I chose a presentable, small and high-quality laptop that would be able to hold out for a day with me on the road without any supporting plan. Do not miss! Touchpad, keyboard, materials in general - everything is on the level! It really keeps the stated time - I already worked on it for 8 hours, the brightness is slightly below average, Wi-Fi is on all the time. And it is now winter, cold !! I chose a laptop purely by technical specifications, and with the ones I needed (8gb / 256gb / win8 / FullHD) there was practically nothing to choose from. It was planned that I would be engaged in web development.
I did not see a laptop before I bought it live, there are practically no reviews on the 2013 model.
As a result of use, I can see that I am satisfied with the purchase. It is not for nothing that the model has awards for design - competitors by comparison look rather faded and angular.
