Despite the fact that modern HBO systems for cars have become much more complicated and more expensive than the usual “cylinder-reducer-mixer” kits for old carburetor cars, with high seasonal runs their use remains very profitable. In addition, a well-regulated propane-butane or methane system is not only dangerous for the engine (as myths like to say), but also gives serious advantages in the form of a significant reduction in carbon buildup, a slowdown in the rate of aging of engine oil and no risk of killing the catalyst with “burned” fuel.

The most popular now are HBO 4th generation car systems. It uses the distributed injection of vaporized propane-butane (or compressed methane with reduced pressure is supplied) using electronically controlled nozzles and its own ECU, that is, a duplicate power supply system is installed on the injection motor. The ability to precisely control the gas supply gives both safety of work (re-exhausted gas mixture with incorrect ignition angles does not have the best effect on the service life of the valves), and additional efficiency. There are, of course, more advanced systems of the newest generations that supply directly liquefied gas to the injectors and in fact do not give an inevitable power loss on gas fuel, but they are more complicated and more expensive - and for the buyer of gas equipment the price still means more than a small loss speakers.

What gas equipment is better to choose?

The choice of GBO can be divided into two groups. In an unambiguous top will be the leading manufacturers of HBO systems (and all, as historically, with Italian roots). They either completely produce all the components for the installation whales, or use third-party parts to a minimum (most often they are electronic control units). At the exit, the kit is quite expensive, but reliable and of high quality.

But there are many companies that produce only individual parts of HBO - for example, from high-quality nozzles Hana to the Chinese "nouneym." So it is not surprising the emergence of companies-packagers, who simply collect whales from different parts. Without needing to create a network of branded representative offices and authorized services, which gives a significant increase in the prices of whales from top-level brands, compiler pickers can save money on the parts themselves. More critical, you can take more expensive, and less critical - cheaper. As a result, such a whale will be noticeably more attractive for the price. And, by the way, as is the case with manufacturers of high-grade HBO systems, geography is also well defined here: the majority of pickers in the Russian market are from Poland.

To contact or not to the collectors? In fact, when using quality parts, this will save without loss for the resource. But immediately familiarize yourself with the details that were used in a particular whale: one thing, to be honest, the brands are indicated, but “your brand” or its complete absence, most likely, indicate Chinese components of unknown quality.

Regardless of the brand of the whale, properly select it for your motor. The performance of the gearbox must match the engine power, otherwise at peak loads the motor will start to “choke”, not getting enough fuel. It is highly desirable to fine tune the fuel cards in the ECU gas equipment, this will allow you to get the best power and efficiency. If the opening time of regular gasoline nozzles at idle is less than 2 milliseconds, the “brains” of the HBO should be able to calibrate the opening / closing time of the gas nozzles, otherwise it will be difficult to rebuild the idle speed. Do not forget about the ignition variator: the gas burns completely differently from gasoline, and on the “gasoline” ignition corners it will burn out already in the exhaust manifold, overheating the catalyst and exhaust valves.In addition, the ignition variator gives a tangible increase in dynamics.
