Reviews of the camera Olympus OM-D E-M1 Kit

Virtues

  • Indeed, very tenacious, tolerates frost. Good battery. Perhaps the best electronic viewfinder of all mirrorless. One of the fastest autofocusing systems among both DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Convenience and ergonomics. Many buttons, all programmable. Foldable screen. Good video quality. Stabilizer, not inferior to other stediku. The ability to quickly throw pictures on the iPad via Wi-Fi.

disadvantages

  • It is necessary to get used to the menu, but it is better to memorize it by heart. Without RAW, you should not go above ISO 1250. With RAW, it’s better to limit ISO 3200. When shooting video, the ceiling is 30 frames per second. I suspect that the matrix itself would have coped well with 60 f / s, and the restriction was introduced artificially. I consider the price tag both on the camera and on the lenses a bit too high. The most high-aperture lenses existing under this camera (f / 0.95-f / 1.4) come without autofocus, which somewhat limits the scope of their use.

Comment
In general, I liked the camera, and I can recommend it for purchase. The main disadvantage I see is still the price. As for the choice of the lens, then, in order to completely abandon the full frame, I would like to see not too expensive glass with f / 1.2-1.4 and autofocus. A regular 12-40 f / 2.8 gives excellent sharpness (both in the center and at the edges, and not only in the center as on most mirrorless). However, I see f / 1.8 fixes more preferable for me because of the greater flexibility in volume creation. They really do well, and without loss of sharpness for an object - I have not yet taken a ruler, but visually the picture is at least as interesting as on FF f / 4.

Virtues

  • Sample factory high-tech - the highest quality material and assembly, fineness. Metal is not only on the dials and switches, but even on the lens cap and hood! Clear metal sensations of the switches, tight plastic movement of the folding screen and lens rings, switchable mode dial, juicy touchscreen screen, on the lens a manual switch ring in MF, shutter speed 1/8000, BB one touch on the Fn button, large and raised joystick (not like the X-T1), a large grip, the possibility of hidden descent by clicking on the screen, the rate of fire, 5-axis stabilizer on the matrix. Really keeps the color up to ISO 25600. High sharpness across the field.

disadvantages

  • The size of the matrix does not quite fit such a serious carcass. 4 * 3 format for printing is not very convenient, you have to switch to 2 * 3. On the shoe already two stubs (would not lose).

Comment
I first bought the X-T1 (X-T1 and E-M1 all the time in a comparison pair), then picked up this one and ... changed it to it. Let a bit to the detriment of the picture (APSC is a bit more sensitive, but 12-40 compensates for its luminosity). Tight plastic metal in the hands (instead of the artisanal sensation of plastic), the imprint of a high-tech - give a new quality from owning a quality tool.

  • Excellent ergonomics, excellent color reproduction, excellent touch screen, build quality at height.

disadvantages

  • No critical

Comment
The device is nice to use. Management is convenient. The quality of materials pleases. And, of course, beautiful olipmusovskaya color rendition. In most cases, camera images do not need to be edited.

Virtues

  • The coolest ergonomics and build quality of all system cameras will give odds to very many ordinary mirrorless ones!
  • Opening the electronic viewfinder is amazing. And if you look at the photos in it on the street, it seems like you are watching a movie.
  • Very raw RAW-files, excellent dynamic range, and of course compactness! Well, the juice is a stabilizer. You can shoot up to 18 c hands, the main thing is not to suffer crooked hands!

disadvantages

  • I would like a 4k video and more turning screen

Comment
Perhaps the most top 43 - system camera!
If you are confused by the size of the matrix, I advise you to rely on the Zuiko optics,
With it, you will have such a detailed and plastic picture that Canon and other SLRs will smoke very nervously. Examples can be found on the link in the VC.
If you are shooting an item, then just take the Em-1 and connect to the smartphone via WI-FI and take a picture while sitting in a chair, let the assistant swap the lots! Well, or you can spy on someone =)))
Compared with the Sony A7 mirrorless, after Sony ergonomics, no full frame is needed, comfort is still above all!
And of course, if you want to have a cool wedding set, you can buy Em-1, as the second camera, with a Zuiko 12-40 2.8pro staffer and you will be happy!
In general, I myself was very much afraid of Crop 2.0 at first, but now I understand what the salt is - in optics! And Olympus has never had a problem with it. That is why everything is now attached to its Canon Mark 2 Zuykovskaya optics. And here everything is much better, and even in a more compact package!
In general, I advise! All development and so that all in focus! =)

Virtues

  • Excellent photo quality, superb 5-axis image stabilizer, smart and best electronic viewfinder to date, instant autofocus, swivel touchscreen, 10 frames per second rate of fire, huge and best RAW buffer in mirrorless glass and before filling the card in JPEG , high ergonomics of the camera (unlike Fuji X-T1, where the twists and levers are made incredibly inconvenient), weather resistance, a huge selection of optics, support through the adapter at a decent speed of the legendary lenses systems 4/3 s (35-100mm f / 2.0, 150mm f / 2.0), Wi-Fi, HDR, LiveComposite, a bunch of artistic effects built into the camera, and in firmware 2.0 there is also a USB live control via a computer.

disadvantages

  • I do not like how the compartment for the memory card is made.

Comment
The OM-D E-M1 is currently the best mirrorless in its class. Photo quality, speed and ergonomics just on top. Having bought E-M5 almost 2 years ago - I was very pleased with it, I only needed 1/8000 shutter speed and a more comfortable grip, and in E-M1 I got it all. It turned out the perfect camera. Compared with FujiX-T1 and Sony7, but all this is not that. Fuji is very slow and it’s impossible to shoot a small child, besides his twists and levers are made quite poorly, twist iso, touch metering, etc., and the Fn buttons are made for people with children's fingers, again the minimum shutter speed is 1/4000 100 available only for jpeg. The viewfinder at fudzhik also worse - dazzled with artificial light and noise appears when there is insufficient light. Yes, and tactile OLYMPUS is much more pleasant to hold. Although Sony and FF, but this is a raw and naked system in terms of lenses (large and dark lenses) and a bunch of jambs (colorshift and soap corners) due to FF and a short working segment. In general, I think that I chose the best camera (SLR for me in the past) for today!

Virtues

  • Compact size, 5 axial image stabilizer, speed autofocus

disadvantages

  • Sorry for the pun, but really worth the lenses are expensive. Custom settings could be nicer.

Comment
Very pleased with the purchase. After its old DSLR, it's a breath of fresh air. Easy and fast, while having all sorts of settings. That is suitable for both beginner and advanced photographer. There are no complaints about the color and quality of the picture.
